Alex hummed lightly, thinking in his normal manner. "Definitely true, they are never this cool. Take today for instance: completely upsetting and with no good hero moment scenes or anything. As for elbows, I get more bashed knees. I seem to have a penchant for falling on them." He chuckled, which was quickly drowned out by popcorn.
"Anyway, it would be so rewarding to just have one James Bond style battle, and...I don't know...swing on a rope or something and kick the guy in the head."

She nodded morosely. "There is a serious lack of ropes when you need them. Also, it is not that easy to get up after being clocked in the head." She dug her hand back into the popcorn bag, coming out with a handful of heaven and buttery fingers. "And I only wish henchmen went down that easily in real life. Or maybe I don't, since I'm kind of a henchman..." She flicked popcorn up in the air and caught it in her mouth on the way down.

"Yeah I suppose that's the downside to things," He mused, licking a fingertip, "that if heroes were cooler, villains would be worse, and if fight scenes were more epic, worse things would happen. What a shame. Not to mention the scraped knees." Alex nodded knowingly, as the movie transitioned into some hushed dialogue and intense scenes. "This, however, can stay well out of real life." He commented.

"And elbows," she reminded him, positive that just by mentioning them new bruises throbbed a little bit as a friendly reminder she'd been in a fight recently where she had banged them up again. Maybe joints were just susceptible to more wear-and-tear than other parts.

"Life cannot be all action and fighting," she replied to his comment. "Diversity is good. This is good diversity." She gestured at the screen.

Alex laughed. "I guess that would be the girl's view of it. We want fight scenes and food, you strange creatures want emotion and talking and all that difficult stuff. I really don't see the attraction." He was, of course, joking more or less. Maybe a bit less. "No, I guess this is bearable enough. But truth be told I do prefer movement and action. I can't stand sitting still."

She crossed her arms and huffed with theatrical indignantly. "How sexist of you, Alex. Thanks a lot for stereotyping. And I always thought better of you" She uncrossed her legs long enough to nudge him with her toes, retracting the foot and curling it back up beneath her on the couch. "Besides, it's emotion that puts us apart...you know...from them. The products. And," she added with dead sincerity, "Bond has to get the girl; you cannot cut the intimate, emotional scenes out of a Bond movie. To do would be sin."

She knew her hidden sarcasm would get through. Alex didn't have a history of taking her deadpan declarations seriously like Sven did.

He laughed, replying though with an equally serious expression. "God forbid you should remove the girl OR the scenes. Gotta have the chick, I mean, he has to do all the hard stuff for areason, right?" He reached over and nudged her, tipping Keeli off balance in hopes of making her fall sideways. "I believe the products still have emotions! Well, some of them are completely re-wired, but I mean, most of them still have their human characteristics. Didn't this new one seem to?" Alex stared up at the ceiling, ignoring the movie momentarily in his random thought train. It was amazingly interesting how many patterns you could find in ceiling stucco, he realized.

She teetered, regaining balance by shooting her hand out to stop on the cushions. "I think that one glitched. The point of the product is to have a human robot. Emotions are not part of the equation. In their effed up utopia they would be able to shut off anybody's emotions with the click of a button," she said, aware that some did, indeed, show emotional capabilities, but the good ones, the ones they sent to take care of real business were devoid of personal wants besides finishing the mission.

She caught Alex's suddenly blank expression and waved her hand in front of his face. "You still in there, or am I just talking to myself now?" Sometimes Alex had the amazing capability of zoning off to places she could never dream of reaching.

Alex batted her hand away, coming back into focus. "Stop that, I swear you're like seven and a half." He grinned, obviously joking. "But no, you aren't talking to yourself. I mean that does make sense. I just wonder, are they totally re-configured? Or is there a person trapped inside that's screaming to get out, with all kinds of pent up emotion? They can't just die inside...can they?" The idea of human robots completely disturbed Alex, who esteemed freewill over just about anything else. He ran a hand through his hair, mussing it completely, and wondering how they got on such a serious topic.

She tucked her hand back. "I could make you guilty by telling you that it's my subconscious trying to reclaim the shreds of childhood that I completely missed out on being homeless half the time and all, but I think my sunny disposition would shed its rays even if I had a childhood with both parents, a dog, and a picket fence," she said offhandedly, shrugging.

"And there is such thing as brain washing. Usually they call it a cult. People erase each other all the time, not just at the asylum. You think suicide bombers get that way because they think rationally on their own terms? Brain washing, I'm telling you." she insisted, using the first example that popped into her head.

"Yeah, somehow I think you'd still be an unstoppable ray of sunshine no matter what your childhood may have been." Alex laughed, stretching back to ease the kinks forming in his back, probably ones emerging from the day's madness.

He frowned. "You really think they just lose it all? Wow, that really is something. Be pretty interesting to know for sure."

{{Yikes....we've been at this for....a couple months? And we haven't even completed a full day yet? That's beyond frightening. Where the hell is everyone!?!?}}

"What better soldiers than ones that totally and absolutely believe in the cause? If I was an evil overlord gathering an army, I'd brainwash them, too," she replied flippantly. "And I'd probably harness my bubbly sunshine power to do it. I don't know how, but I'd find a way."

((I know what you mean. It's actually kind of funny. We should have Alex and Keeli go do something crazy. Like go to Disneyland! Who could stop us!?))

Alex couldn't help laughing, picturing a bunch of brain-washed,.happy-go-lucky 'soldiers' running around. "Oh I bet, and you'd probably arm them with bubble-guns. And candy....and really fast cars."
The movie had finally ended, the credits rolling up the black screen. "Well, glad I paid attention to that." He mused, shaking his head.

((Oh definitely. They could just own the whole thing. We could go sabotage the Asylum, and none of them would stop us!! Muahahaha!))
PostPosted: Sun Apr 19, 2009 6:04 pm

"I'm sure it was a great movie, what with all the action I didn't watch," she agreed. "I think that my brainwashed army would put the phrase 'killing with kindness' into literal action for the first time ever, too," she mused, twirling a piece of hair around her index finger and gazing out at the ceiling.

((They could even take over the Asylum and turn it into a 5 star hotel with its colorful background as a gimmick to draw in customers.))

Alex chuckled, standing up to flick the lights back on and turn off the DVD player. "Yeah, I can see them smiling and apologizing as they cut the enemy to pieces. Very effective, I wonder it hasn't been thought of before."

((Ooohh man, now we're getting crazy. Can we call it "The Looney Bin"?))
