"Ugh, alright," Magmafang said after a pause.
He really didn't like the idea of going back to camp to possibly be questioned, but Shimmerflight was right. Cats suspected her more than him. Maybe he could actually cover for her...
Anyway, at least he wouldn't have to stay out all night.
"Now for some hunting."

Soon Shimmerflight's memorable white coat was shining once more, contrasting her from the rest of her surroundings. She whispered to Magmafang as she hunted alongside of him, "what are you gonna say to everyone when you get back?" Hopefully he was a better liar than in the other areas of skills she has shown her so far. What would she say? She had been at fourtrees? Then she would need proof, and she didn't exactly have any connections in other clans, not enough to get them to say they saw a white figure at the gathering place if she somehow persuaded Moonstar to take the time to make a visit. So what would she say in that case then...? They needed to come to a conclusion that they hadn't been together this night at all, so he could say that he saw her doing not suspicious stuff while he was in the middle of hunting, so when she'd go back and they'd ask what she's been up to she'd have a common story.

As soon as Magmafang saw Shimmerflight's white pelt again, he realized he still had mud all over him. Yeah, that's not suspicious.
As he worked to get the mud off, he tried to decide what he would say. He could definitely say he was out hunting. But what could he say about Shimmerflight?
"I can say I went out to hunt by myself... since I wanted some alone time to think about things and thought I could feed the clan at the same time. Then I can say I saw you..."
What would be the best thing he could say he saw Shimmerflight doing? Was she hunting like him? Eh... What about a border patrol? But by herself? What about practicing battle moves? But that kind of thing would best be done with a partner...
"Gah, I can't think of anything..."

Good, so they had the same thought process. "I was looking for snow, to throw at other cats." Yes, there was still some snow out since it was still leaf-bare. "Say I was hoarding a big pile of it, and when you went over to ask what in the name of Starclan I was doing, I threw a snowball sat you, and you left. So when I arrive at camp I'll also have witnesses, and they'll be like, "oh, so that's why you were so protective of the area you were prowling about before, you were preparing some snow to throw at unsuspecting cats" and I'll be like, yeah, but when I heard yowling I abandoned it to see what was going on, but they were already gone, but when I got back to my snow pile it was all trampled up with mud and stuff, so I spent the night trying to make another, which I couldn't cause there wasn't enough snow." She felt a pang of guilt when she said Starclan, feeling terrible about lying, but it was for the better, right?

"That sounds good," Magmafang agreed.
He stopped, hearing a croak a little ways off. Creeping closer, he found a frog, hopping around the mud. Dashing for it, he caught it by its leg as it tried to flee. He slashed its throat and brought it back to Shimmerflight.
"We're going to need a lot more than just one frog."

Shimmerflight nodded, and opened her mouth as she drank in the crisp night air. She caught a faint smell of prey, she couldn't tell if it was stale or not from where she was, but it was worth a check. Nimbly slinking off she follow the confirmed fresh scent of mouse, and was soon back with the scrawny kill. Burying not far off from Magmafang's kill she continued hunting.

Magmafang crept off to continue hunting, keeping his mouth open and his ears perked. Soon he caught a scrawny mouse. Then, after a while, he caught sight of a bird. Carefully, he made his way towards it, but a twig snapped under his paw, and the bird took off. Cursing, Magmafang looked around, hoping Shimmerflight hadn't seen that, and continued hunting.
As he hunted, a few times he caught a glimpse of Shimmerflight's pelt in the distance. He started to like the way it was white like snow, and the way the purple markings were playfully dyed onto her pelt.
But he shook his, remembering there were more important things to do than to stare like an idiot, and he continued searching for prey.

Shimmerflight had either not seen it, or pretended not to, but either way she had her share of mistakes too; a frog she was after almost escaping. As she continued to hunt she could not help but smile. Magmafang was a good comrade, perhaps even more trustworthy than Snowberry. At this point she wanted to ask him two things. One was who he liked better; Harbringersight or her. It was obvious he hated him, but he always seemed to embroiled in the feud, that she wasn't sure how many more times she'd be able to entangle him into one of her trickery crafts that didn't happen to involve Harbringerslight again. It wasn't everyday that she found a comrade, and even more so a friend.
Killing an already half-dead mouse, she counted up the prey they had so far. 1 2 3... 5. That'd be impressive at this time of the year, especially for a single warrior. He may have had a lot of time to hunt, and the cloak of night, but still being able to gather up this much would be quite distracting.
Pouncing on Magmafang, though making her presence well known before she even got near him so he wouldn't be surprised, she played with his ears. "I think you have enough prey for it to be excusable. You might even have trouble carrying it all back to camp. Just make sure that if any have my scent on them you try and remove it."

Magmafang was a little irritated at how Shimmerflight was playing with his ears, as if he was some kind of kit, but he didn't say anything. He had had fun that day and started to count Shimmerflight as his friend.
"Mmhmm," he answered.
Then he started to gather up all the prey, sniffing each one to make sure Shimmerflight's scent wasn't on it. A few did have her scent, so Magmafang covered it with a little mud, making sure that didn't look too suspicious. After he gathered all the prey, he attempted to hold them all in his mouth. He felt like they were going to tumble out at any moment. He hoped he didn't look too silly with his mouth so stuffed...

Shimmerflight tried to not giggle at how Magmafang looked, "like a true warrior." She nodded then yawned, "anyways, you should get back to camp, who knows, they may be taking this as a serious offense and counting up cats that were out and cats that were in camp right now.~" She had a feeling she'd be proven guilty either way, so might as well try help Magmafang go Scott-free since nobody wants a bad experience on their first big prank. Hopefully any of her other trouble making allies were in camp already also.
Stretching she decided to rest now and continue hunting later.

Magmafang blinked his reply, not wanting to risk prey falling out by his nodding. Then he was off, as quickly as he could without spilling prey, towards the camp. It was hard to hold on, and a few times he had to stop to readjust the prey. As he went, he allowed himself to think. He wondered what cats would think of him if they found out he was involved with the prank. He wondered what Shimmerflight already thought about him.
Soon the camp came into sight, shifting his thoughts. He hoped he'd be able to get some rest after the day he had, instead of being interrogated, but he doubted it...

Shimmerflight yawned, and padded over to a less marshy area. Finding a good spot she curled up to rest and think. Hopefully she wouldn't catch a cold by being out here for so long... Her blue eyes scanned the terrain, and she wondered if another patrol would be sent out. Hopefully not. Sighing, she flicked her tail and tried to shuffle her paws a little more under her for warmth.
((Should we make a new thread for interrogations or just continue here? |D Or not rp the interrogations at all? -Brick'd.-))
