Allister stood and looked at the man named Marshall, he didn't want to be rude, so he extended his hand and shook the father's for a second before he stuffed his hands into his pockets once more. He felt awkward right now, should he speak or not? Allister moved his hands up and grabbed onto the headphones, slipping them around his neck.

"Hello Father Marshall Atkins, thanks for the letter...I was told by a...reliable source that this place could...well, show me something I could use", he explained in a long winded response.

God, he was so annoyed now, he hated, absolutely hated talking to people. He pulled his MP3 out and turned it off as quickly as he could. "Might you give us some information on this place? that is, if you know anything about it?".

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Christina opened one eye and looked over at Marshal speaking to Allister, "talking is useless...he doesn't even bother-", she paused as Allister took off his headphones and took the priest's hand. She looked over at him and frowned, 'you little a**hole...', she yelled in her head. She straightened her shirt and opened the front pocket of her bag and slipped out her small package. She ripped the cellophane off of the square pack and slipped the crush in between her lips. It had been a few days since she had one, and she just caved.
"I'll be right back boys and girls", she said aloud as she walked towards the nearest door and pulled the lighter out. She flicked it to life and sucked in the harmful smoke. God it felt good.
She looked around and thought for a moment, questioning why she was even there, did she really believe a possessed kid? did she belive that that place could answer her questions? She pushed them aside and thought from a different perspective, it was her job, and she would file a report when they were finished, go back to Alex, and finish thier little...game.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"...and please do not worry about not talking to me Father, I don't have a cell phone, I don't see the need for one. If I am out of my house, out doing something, I obviously don't want to be bothered...", Allister said a bit quickly. He rummaged through his own pockets as Christina had, looking for the exact same thing. He wouldn't go for one until he had finished talking with the father. He waved his hand to the seats nearby and asked politely, "do you mind if we sit? My legs are kind of rubber after my fall".

“I really like you. I feel like well not like I have felt in a long time. When we left that place I was really upset about what I had let it…what I let it do.” She paused closing her eyes thinking back to the wall swallowing up Jastin and she had just stood there letting it take him. She took a deep breath and shook her head. “Well I was really upset that you never tried to get in touch with me. I know I should have tried but I figured that if you would have wanted something more with me…” she shrugged and looked at him. She started to fidget her fingers instantly going to the necklace he gave her. Her new nervous habit.

“I know maybe you’re a little self conscious but. It doesn’t matter to me. I told you that it didn’t when we met, and it never has and it never will. I know I might not seem like the best or most beautiful person… but I just I guess that is all I have to say.” She nodded. She waited a few seconds for him to start talking and then started to pace back and forth a couple steps. She wished she wasn’t wearing this crappy perfume or these stupid gloves. What was the purpose of trying to hide from him if she was just going to blurt it out the second she saw him.

Marshall watched Christina walk silently away, perhaps not as silently as he would have like to assume, but it was enough. He could tell that this was going to be as interesting as it was appearing. Father Atkins for the first time since leaving the church had his hands filled beyond what he was usually capable; he welcomed the challange with open arms. Christina went off to smoke, he had wondered how that would work out seeing as how they would most likely be no where near the outside for many days on end. He would have to designate a room, if it were possible.

'Sit?' As if having to think about it, he opened his arms out to the seats nearest Bethany who had busied herself with something of her own creation, and smiled. "By all means, please do. Pardon me if I don't, been sitting far too long." It had registered that Allister had said the word fall, and he decided he should investigate that further. There was another one of his habits breaking his shell. "Fall? I am dreadfully sorry. Not to venture from that matter, the young lady beside you is Bethany. She will be joining us as well." Marshall stared at her while she drew, those beautiful locks of dark hair falling ever so gently in her face. Then there was that bright red lipstick that kept drawing his pupils in that direction.

The more that he stared at her the more it became apparent. With those big beautiful doe eyes of hers, she could be a child of his own creation if he ever had one. Their features were similar, even some of her innocent mannerisms were something nostalgic. Father Atkins would want to get to know this girl even more just for that simple reason. He had read her casefile over and over again and each time he wished he could fly to her and hold her. Tell Bethany that he was sorry that the justice system had failed her.

There they were! Those death-grip words escaping the lips of this seemingly perfect angel. How they stabbed his heart more times than he dare count, and even more strange, was how badly he wanted her to do it again. The cold steel between his ribs, the blood rushing to escape. It was a lovely death indeed, and he had prayed it been her the entire time since they had met. And here she was saying things Hunter never dreamed she would say. Though stuttered and half understood, they were poetic and visually stunning.

It was then that Hunter began to laugh. Again, not at her. More at the irony of the situation at hand. Here Robin had thought the entire time he had dedicated to his own life, and how she wrong she was for thinking so, or even slightly hinting at the possibility. It had felt like a lifetime had gone by the instant Hunter made Robin his sole inspiration and purpose in life. He wanted to scream it to her, atop a mountain or something equal in romanticness, since he was so out of practice with the stuff. Whatever it was that lovers screamed from when confessing their desires for another, that's where he wanted to be.

"I am sorry to laugh Robin, but, you seem to be.. quite mistaken. You have no idea how many times I have jumped on a plane, flown to where you lived got to your door. And just... couldn't bring myself to knock. I am just surprised you never find the pile of flowers I was going to give you in that little bush beside your door? But, I was there at all your book signings. I just never... could bring myself to talk to you." Hunter lowered his head to the floor, why he did not know. The carpet was nothing incomparison to Robin, by far she was the most beautiful thing in this whole damn world.

His hand reached up and brushed the soft flesh of her face just at the jawline, something he never saw himself doing in a million years had she not relayed to him such things. "Most beautiful? Best person? Robin.." Hunter half chuckled, half smiled, allowing a soft sigh to escape through his teeth. "You ARE those things. Always have been. Always will be. You are right, I should have made contact with you. You can call me charmingly idiotic."

“Maybe I should just call you a creeper. Or would coward suffice?” she asked wetting her lips. Had he really been there and just to petrified of what she would say to him. “Of course I will just call you mine instead and not tease you like that.” She smiled caressing his hand with her cheek. “I am sorry, had I been more approachable, maybe would have given me some flowers instead of trashing them. Now I know why the door man was always so pissed.” She smiled.

After a few seconds she inserted her index finger into her mouth and removed the glove from that hand. She opened her mouth letting it fall to the ground and took his wrist encompassing it with her hand. She took his hand and brushed his fingers across her face. “We should go, you should meet with Marshall.” She said softly. It was the right thing to say, they were here for business. Yet she stood there relishing the feel of his fingers brushing her lips, even the French were gazing at them as if it were slightly pornographic. See couldn’t help it, she wanted him to know, wanted him to know the shape of her face. He could pick her voice out from a crowd; she wanted him to know every centimeter of her flesh like he did her voice. Only propriety and time would allow him to memorize her face.

"Coward, creeper, Creepy Coward. Whatever suits your fancy, I can play follower too you know. Just show me where to sign!" Hunter was back to his old self yet again. Though he had been that romantic thing every woman wanted to meet atleast once in his life, he had to be his own person. Robin was a woman who respected his true nature and did not hate him in the process. Such as the flight attendant he would soon have to fire for flipping him off. Good looks were nothing if your personality was as ugly as a hairless dog.

"Marshall? Who the hell--oh, how rude of me to forget the reason why I am here! That is you all over again. Being all stunning and perfect and not even trying. Stop that!" Hunter loved the feeling of her skin. It was soft where needed and worked through as well. They were the hands a woman who had accomplished a lot in her lifetime. What the hell had he done lately? Hated his job, his new boss, yes, Hunter now had a boss. As strange as that sounded. It was more of a image consultant than anything. Her job was to plaster his face all over the world to get his name out there whether people wanted to hear it or not.

"Yes. You are right. I should meet him. Lead the way my dear." He would allow Robin to lead her, since it was the whole, him being blind thing, having no strength to tell her otherwise.

Robin lead him to little group Marshall was pulling together and nodded at him. “Sorry Padre, it is my distinct pleasure to introduce Hunter Valentine. World’s premier spirit medium.” She looked back at Hunter and smiled. She really would call him her own for as long as she lived, even if he would only have her for a second. “Hunter Valentine. Marshall Atkins, owner of a scary as ******** house we are going to work the kinks out of.” She nodded then scrunched her nose. “Well I am not sure it is that scary, but that is what I hear.”

She failed to mention that it had called to her. It had haunted her dreams, plagued her. she looked at hunter and wondered if it had called to him? His power was so much greater then hers, she looked like a child. She relied on her green magic, his was just innate. If it had called to him had it been tenfold the pain it had been for her? His warm hand in her now bare hand reminded her he could feel everything she was thinking. ‘At least you weren’t thinking about something way off base like Hunter, and kissing him.’ She reassured herself. She let his hand slip from her own and shook her head. Business now, kiss the brains of the sexy medium later.

Allister smiled slightly and sat down, hie eyes wandering up to the father's face. This guy was nice. Well, nicer than most he had met, or bothered to talk to. He crossed his arms across his chest as the other's got closer, 'exit stage left' he thought as he again stood. He couldn't stand being near this many people. He walked closer to the priest and patted his shoulder slightly.

"I'm sorry Marshall, but, I don't like being around people. Don't take this personally, please?", he whispered into the other man's ear. He did not want to be rude, but it was the way he was.

He followed the same path Christina took and exited only to find her standing there with a cigarette in hand, and small phone held tightly in the other. He could only wonder why she was gripping it so tightly, but overall it didn't matter, not to him. He looked over and took a step towards her, to this she turned and smirked at him.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Christina heard a door open and close behind her, it was probably some dolt that was sneaking out for a smoke like she had. She turned to look and see who it was. Of all the people she expected to see, it was the mute, Allister. She smirked and stifled a bit of laughter, she didn't see him as one to smoke, though no one would expect her to, either. She walked towards him slowly, menacingly, and then pulled a cigarette from her pack and pushed it into his lips.

"That is what you were looking for, right?", she said with a a big smile now. She wasn't trying to be funny or anything, but she had just expected him to light one of his own up.

She pulled out her lighter and held it out for him, the smile never fading from her face, maybe she could get him to tell her more about himself. It was a simple gesture that could maybe open up this book to her prying eyes, at least, that was what she hoped for.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

She pushed the filter between his lips and spoke softly to him, what was her aim? he wondered. He didn't question it further as she produced a lighter. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a box of matches, and looked up at her and smile softly. Perhaps he could say a few words to make her feel better, couldn't hurt, right? Well, it could, but, it was worth a try.

Allister opened his mouth to speak, but couldn't think of the right words. Then in a sudden flash as he struck the match, he figure it all out. He put the flame to the end of the cancer stick. He took a deep breath of it and smiled, it was killing him slowly, draining his life like everything else seemed to do lately.

"Yeah, thanks...by the way...I'm sorry about earlier, don't take it to heart, I'm...quiet, is all", he said as he took another drag from it with a smile.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Christina laughed a bit, he may be a recluse but he was a nice person at heart, it seemed. She reached out toward his soft lips and crushed the filter with her forefinger and thumb. Her cigarettes were special, they started off normal and after you crushed the filter, they became Menthol. Hence the name of them, Camel Crush. She smiled as he took another drag, he would feel the cooling smoke filling his lungs, chilling him from the inside out. It hit everyone pretty hard when it changed that suddenly.

She turned back to the doors and snuck one more look at Allister, spending time with all of those people, and this one guy would be fun. Though, her interest was only in how he worked, nothing else. Right? Yeah, it had to be, she was Alexander's, at least, she was thinking that way now. He was special to her, and she wanted to be his, even if she was a manipulator, he was one of the only people that saw through her and still loved her, in more ways than one.

"I'll see you inside Mute, okay?", she said as she dropped the nearly gone cig and crushed it underneath her foot. She pointed inside at where the other's would be, and then walked out of view.

Because, I've been wondering a lot lately...
Could it be love or merely a dream?

[[ 'ooc Gomen! I'm in the midst of finals, so I'm a bit slow on the reply! I've got 'til Wednesday, and I'm free!!! Yay! But yeah, I am sorry for being so slow with this!!! ]]

Serena had shrugged off her boots and lain back down, still tired when she heard the door open, and Devon's warm voice calling out to her. Picking her head up from the pillow, her golden locks of hair fallign askew, momentarily, across her face, she looked up and smiled, getting up and brushing herself off before running up to him to give him a tight hug. She took the moment in time to bury her head in his chest, allowing herself to be enveloped in his scent, something that, to her, was still as mysterious and tantalizing as the day they met. Serena, though she knew she was already in love with this man, always wondered how many times she would "fall in love with him" before she could actually be around him without going all lovey-goo-goo, as Beth teased. It was as if every time she saw him, held him, touched him, kissed him... She fell in love all over again, and all the falling, Serena knew, could bring pain if Devon wasn't. Luckily, for now, he was always catching her...

"Hey you... How was your breakfast with Beth?" she asked him, pulling away momentarily to look up into his eyes. She always wondered why she always felt that it had been so long since she had last seen him... Every time she saw him, she wanted to rush to him and hold on tight, as if something might spring up and steal him away from her... And to Serena, a life was not worth living if she couldn't be with him... After all, after the Blackbird Manor... After all Devon had given to help her through it... She owed her life to him... He was her savior... Her guardian angel... And he brought a light into her life that had doused out so long ago...

Looking to her sides, she frowned momentarily. "Hun, where's Beth?" she asked curiously, knowing the two barely ever separated. An almost frantic look came into her eyes as she tried to look around Devon's figure to find the girl whom she had already deemed her sister. Was she safe, Serena wondered, as she gave up trying to look around them, and now was looking past Devon to see if Beth was standing, perhaps, down the hall, smiling at her, waving to hurry up. Serena knew they had to hurry to the airport, after all... If they were late, well, who knew what information they could miss out on if they were late... "Devon, is everything alright?" she asked him curiously.

Her angelic arms were about him now, before he had time to extinguish any more of his convoluted thoughts. The feeling of her fragile body pressed against his own was enough to weaken his entire system, had it not been for the fear of tearing them to the floor, his knees would have given out on the exact instant she made physical contact with him. A woman with this much power of a man should be locked away in a cave, had she asked, he would have taken the world into his clutches and handed it to her red ribbon and all. There was no such thing as the power of love, love did not have power, it had everything, power was just the added bonus. And though it's grip held him by the neck and shook him rampent, he would have nothing more.

The glorious aroma of Serena's golden strands as more than he could take, as it filled his lungs, since he often took time to take in these small pleasentries she probably had no idea she was giving him. How could he not fall in love with such a lovely creature like Serena? She was his gift from God, and even if there was a return policy, he would rip up the reciept and burn the remains of it's existence. Devon would keep Serena for as long as she would be his. Then there was the matter of the ring. If Devon did not act quickly a beautiful frenchman might take her away with words of love and conquest, though in Devon's character, he was not entirely so entirely eloquently unique at expressing his love. He was a coward so the story goes. Had Devon been like the knights in shining armor in the books Serena had read as a little girl, that ring would be around that finger of hers and off into the sunset he would be carrying her.... But at his own gentle pace...

"Excellent. As usual. You know Beth, she made the waitor cry a few times, made a mockery of the whole place, and skipped out like a kid with a lollipop. I had to beg the guy to take my extra tip." Devon softly kissed the side of her temple, and felt the warmth of her skin underneath his lips. She was a Goddess... How could he ever compare? "Oh yes." He exclaimed, reaching into his pocket and retrieved the message Bethany had sent to him just minutes before. "She's at the airport. I told her to go on ahead. You know her anciness, we wouldn't have been able to pack to save our lives."

Instantly, at the sound of her very own name, Bethany lifted her head from her drawings, about to open her mouth and speak but was once again interrupted. The same exact movements away from her general being that seemed to crush louder than words could say. It was as if someone was placing an invisible sheet over her body so that others would pass her by; even with how much she struggled, it meant nothing, just another vain effort to stop blending in with the background. Bethany should just put a potted plant on her head and call herself a decorative end table. 'Cute...' Bethany thought to herself, returning to her drawings as if the entire interruption had never happened.

This time she was sketching herself as said end table. It was quite funny, having to chuckle ever so lightly under her breath to keep the joke to herself at all measures. 'Don't sweat it. New friends come a dime a dozen, they are fun for like all of six seconds and then...' Well, she knew what the rest was, though she hated the idea of admitting it. Bethany had acquired no new friends since the Blackbird manor. Aside from Devon and Serena, there was no one, and as much as an anti-hero, social butterfly she was, it was preferable to have just those two in her life. Bethany was fearing that the closer Devon got to putting a ring on Serena's finger was less time she had to share with him before his husband duties took him away for long periods of time. What would she do then? Where would she go? Devon wants children of his own, what does he need a twenty-some-odd living in his house taking up space?

After this whole problem, Bethany would get out, find her own place. Have her own things. Though what she was going to do with the rest of her life was a complete mystery. Sure she could live on her own, pay for her own things, but what about the lonliness the night often brought along with it? A cat. Yes, a cat will do.... "Whatever..." Bethany said out loud, not really caring if anyone heard or not. "Screw off to you too..." Adding before continuing her drawing.

It was almost too difficult to keep this charade up, especially for this long. When could he reveal that he was able to see before he made things worse. Robin was as tempermental as he was, he could imagine what she might do if he were to reveal late in the week that he had been watching her through his own eyes? It seemed as though he was lying to her, but there was nothing that he could do to change his feelings about keeping his sight a complete secret. The world had to leave him alone about before they began to ask questions, then he would be in trouble like he never knew before. That's not to say he does not have a mile-wide stack of parking tickets that could get his dumb a** thrown in jail...

Before idiotically extending his hand as if able to see the Father and his own extended arm, Devon bowed handsomely and stared off into nothingness. Watching a pair of young girls play ring around the rosie with their elder brother. It was a lovely sight, and atleast it was keeping him from doing something stupid that he would later regret. They were giggling, making faces, singing lyrics to a song he had never heard of before but his sight touched them. It was hard not too, this mind just sort of had that curiosity, that desire to know. And he knew. April and Kaylee were born in June as twins, Kaylee is three minutes older, and April has ADD. Mother died when they were two, so they have no memory of her. The brother, Bryan, took care of them when their father was at work. It was a cute little family struggling to survive. Grandma was coming to visit.

'World Premium.' Robin had called him. It was a nice sound indeed, how she flattered his vanity! "Oh yes. Marshall, we have talked many times on the phone prior to this. I hope that you have taken my advice in the matter of your cohort?" Hunter smiled sweetly those his eyes watched intently the girls running about being girls as usual. "I have seen the case file after you e-mailed it to me. The bits and pieces of course. I went through them, I find it strange that I cannot see everything. I suppose that is going to be explained?" Hunter asked, curiosity filling his expression, though his eyes he left completly vacant of all thought.

Robin’s eyes narrowed. There was something that she should be seeing right now. She replayed the conversation back. Hunter had gone over the parts he had seen and wondered about the parts he hadn’t been given. That sounded right, she had also only been give snid bits of the picture, a puzzle with half of the pieces missing. But that wasn’t it, it had had nothing to do with what she was missing. She used to be so good at this, reaching out into thin air and grabbing the intangible. Her power of observation was so usually keen, so what was she missing.

It was something big, she could feel it. Something that would change her life was hovering invisible right in front of her eyes, all she had to do was grab it. She looked at hunter and frowned, did he have it in his grasp, was that why she couldn’t grasp it because he already had. She reached for his hand, he could skim things from her by touch, she had some gift and he had a lot. Maybe she could try to rework the connection and skim from him. She cradled his hand in hers and closed her eyes trying to pick up something from him. Inside she met a huge wall of Hunter’s psyche. She took a deep breath and let her eyes open slowly and track to Marshall. Business now personal later, she reminded herself despite that her hand was still holding Hunter’s.

"Ah yes Mr. Valentine, I was looking forward to putting a face to the voice. Though I have seen your photographs, it's nice to finally be able to meet you in person." Marshall had extended his hand, but what good would that have done? The man could not see to save his life! He may have just insulted Robin by having done so, but that little piece of information just seemed trivial. Retracting his outstretched hand Marshall cleared his throat and took a seat on the empty chairs. "I believe we have a few more guests that need to arrive, but if you all would like, my cohort." Atkins pointed to the man standing beside the coffee counter conversing with the woman behind serving the latte's. "He could stand here and keep a look out, I will make sure to hand him my clip board, and if those of you who are here would like, I have a conference room rented out in which I would like to give you some information. But that is entirely up to all of you."

Marshall took a long look around, spying Miss Christina coming around the bend from being outside. Someone would have to gather the other in order from them to proceed to the conference room. Everyone needed to hear this one way or the other. Marshall himself had listened and read all of the information himself, staying up late at night just to assure himself that he had heard everything. The tapes had been mixed up, and some of them even destoyed. Even Marshall may have been missing huge pieces of the grand puzzle that was his house. HIS house...

"Bethany, would you be so kind as to alert Allister that we will be heading into hall, 'A,' just beyond that platform? Thank you dear." Marshall pointed towards the door, and smiled at Bethany. She was not a happy camper right now, perhaps this would get her mind off of everything.
