Not What She Expected: Tempy meets Lit
** It was Lit's 9th straight day of working - the curse of being your own boss, more often than not you needed to be at your job. Every. Single. Day. And when you're the head chef, it was even more demanding. Lit liked the guy he'd hired to pick up when the red skinned Spawn couldn't be there, but there were some recipes he just didn't trust with anyone. Anyway, he was more than a little stressed, frayed around the edges...and despite his want to keep working through the small rush, he was almost shoved outside by his staff and told to take a much needed break.
As usual, he found a spot on the wall to rest against. He really needed to invest on a bench for out here. He'd been on his feet all day, and with a sigh he realized all he really wanted to do was sit down.~
**It was a long car ride back to the restaurant and the red head got lost over three times getting back to the area. Temperance was sleeping with the baby in the back seat. The baby was strapped into a baby seat, and she was cuddled over it. Marcy kept taking a peek at her and smiling. It was worth being late to see the mother, son bonding time. She looked around “Ok, I have no clue where I am” she parked her car.
She picked up her cell phone and found the restaurant number in her address book “Hey, could you give me directions” she chatted with the person for a bit. She explained the area she was in, and the worker was able to give her directions. Once Marcy was able to find her way she quickly parked her car. She saw Lit “Hello there, sorry we are late, I got lost….” She giggled. Temperance opened her eyes “Are we here” she asked. Marcy nodded.
Temperance got herself ready. Marcy smiled “I have to get the baby out, he is the cutest thing ever” she opened the car door and picked him up. “Hello there sleepy” she spoke softly and he kept his eyes asleep. Tempy saw Lit and waved at him. “I can see both his traits through his dna” she noted to Marcy. The red head shook her head.
** See, the problem was that when Lit met Marcy...well, he'd thought she was older. So when Marcy had mentioned a friend, he'd assumed this friend was also an adult, perfectly capable of making the choice to have a baby. However, what he saw instead was a child, only a few years older than Auryn. It hit him like a ton of bricks, right in his gut...and his skin turned a noticeable shade of green. Bile rose in the back of his throat, which was hard to swallow back, and he winced as it burned on the way back down. What had he gotten himself into?
This was bad....this was very, very bad. He couldn't even find his voice to speak...not that he had to. His third eye looked about ready to jump off his forehead and maul both the child and Marcy's friend.~
**Marcy could sense something was wrong, her smile turned to just a smirk she placed the baby on her right arm and went to grab the diaper bag. Temperance went over to Marcy “I can hold him if you want” she stated. Marcy shook her head “No, I can hold him” she kept her eyes on Lit. Temperance nodded and walked over to Lit “Hello I am Temperance Capino , I am sorry we couldn’t come here sooner, thank you for meeting me” she said in her professional tone.
** He kept glancing down at Tempy...then to the child, to Marcy, before back to Tempy. He didn't like that smirk on Marcy's face...and he didn't like the mixed signals about the kid. There was something off about this - he vaguely remembered Marcy mentioning before that this kid was special, some new experiment from the facility. Whatever it was, he had to do a lot of counting, a lot of focusing...to keep from vomiting right on Tempy's shoes. "Sure," he responded to the gratitude, his voice flat and more than a bit shaky. He didn't need this...not now, not after the day he'd had. And his day wasn't even done yet.~
** “Did we come at a bad time , I’m soo sorry I should of called more in advance” Marcy wasn’t sure how to feel right now. As for Temperance she wasn’t picking up on any of the signals. Josiah woke up and smiled at Marcy. He reached his fingers up and touched her mouth as baby often do. Marcy gave his little fingers a kiss “You are a perfect little man, aren’t you” she voiced loud enough for both of them to hear. Tempy looked at Marcy “No one is perfect Marcy, all species have flaws” she nodded “Do you want to have our chat in the facility?” Temperance asked. Marcy looked down at the baby “well your practically perfect” she stated. The baby easily distracted Marcy.
** "Please tell me you're talking about my restaurant and not that hell hole..."
Her question had caught Lit off-guard, again, and he nearly spat his comment at her. His third eye rolled about in its socket as she and Marcy exchanged words about the child, and Lit actually had to place his hand over it to keep himself from getting dizzy. Do you know how hard it is to have a third eye giving you a difference perspective of the entire world? Damn annoying, especially when it operated almost entirely on its own. "Either way, no. If I go back in there...I won't be able to talk to you, I'll have to work." He just had to get this over with...answer whatever questions she had, and get them to leave. "What did you want to know?"~
**“Well I would like to know how your Wrath DNA affects your everyday life? I find with myself I don’t have any real anger problems since my Abstinence DNA is much more prevalent. The only other person I know well with Wrath DNA is my sister. Her DNA was affected differently than mine do to her choices, making me realize how different each person from Seven is. I want to give my child the best possible life, so understanding others with Wrath DNA will be helpful” she stated.
**There was something about what she said that struck true with Lit...all of them were different, yes. How did you explain, though, what it's like being one of Shar's children? No one knew, not even the Wrath's Spawn...because their strand was different. "Let me put it to you this way..." he said, slowly. "Right now, there is a very dark, angry...hateful part of me that would like nothing more than to simply attack you, and your child, simply because he exists." He'd uncovered his third eye, and motioned to it. It bore a hole into Tempy's face, wishing it possessed death-ray like abilities. "This - I fight with this every day. Literally, I can't control the damn thing." A hand covered the eye again. "But I know killing you and your son is wrong. I know that would get me into a shitload of trouble. So I deal with it, I transfer my anger into other things." His free hand motioned to his bar. "But it is something that has taken me my *entire* life to learn to control."~
**The wrath teen got out her computer “That is truly fascinating, your third eye, I am guessing is a trait passed down from Shar? Has its own being. My sister was affected by a spirit that controlled a lot of her thoughts and feelings. That’s why I said her DNA was greatly affected by her choices. Her Wrath DNA grew stronger because of the sprit and its negative presence in her life” as she talked she opened up a computer program. It typed what they were saying.”So do you find your chastity DNA to be hindrance or positive? The studies I have done on myself show my abstinence DNA is morphing with my Wrath DNA. As far as how it affects my personality, the variables are too wide for me to do a precise study” she stated. “So as of now I can only do a physical analysis on myself, but on a spiritual level I’m not sure if it could be studied” she nodded. She was also opening a program to specifically remind her to research beings like his “Third Eye”.
Marcy slowly inched back to the car she whispered positive things into Jo’s ear. She had no respect for what Lit was saying. She couldn’t understand what a accomplishment Lit was making even talking to Tempy. She was also feeling this was a bad idea.
**"You really think you can analyze this into being a good mom?" he sneered. "There is no planning for something like this. Ask you guardian...ask anyone who's raised a Spawn." He was getting frustrated. She was treating him like an experiment. "This is why somebody your age shouldn't be having kids. You don't know what the hell you've gotten yourself into." His words were meant to bite and sting...and for the first time since they arrived, his third eye actually started to look pleased.~
**Marcy watched Lit and she opened the car door placing Jo back into his car seat. As Temperance listened then spoke “Yes the variables are unknown, I have talked to many parents and guardians about parenthood. It seems you have adopted modern view points of the age someone should give birth. I understand your views, but many civilizations started breeding at even younger ages. I feel with a well balanced family environment, stable income, and the research I have done chances of successes are high, though I will make sure to keep your concerns in mind” she highlighted what Lit said.
Marcy wanted to pull Temperance away from this sinking conversation and leave. She was sorry she ever spoke to him. Couldn’t he see the beauty in Jo, couldn’t he see what good could come from something bad. If he was that narrow minded Marcy wanted nothing to do with him. She couldn’t wait for a moment to split this chat up and leave.
**Breeding*?" That struck him silent. Breeding...data and research... His mouth contorted with a nasty, nasty growl. "You're no better than those assholes back at the facility. He's just some science project for you, isn't he? How could you *dare* call yourself a parent," This was a new point of view for him. He'd never seen someone outside of Sevens talk about a child this way, and certainly never expected a Spawn to say this about one of their own. Lit could only think of Mara, and Auryn. They were such beautiful girls, full of promise to be something more than what their DNA said they should be. "We're done here," he finally stated, standing up straight from the wall. His wings were puffed, the feathers on edge. "I'm not going to waste my time with a wanna-be child scientist on a doomed mission to pretend they're a parent."~
** "Good, You go with your judgment, You have no idea who Tempy is or what a wonderful mother she is, If you could only see the time she spends with Josiah, it’s just the way she talks that’s all, and you know what you’re just like them heartless cruel, you might have some problems but that gives you no right to talk to her like that” a few tears streamed down Marcie’s face. “Temperance is way better then the people at Seven, and way better then you” she said in a strong voice “AND there is no way I’m placing my Mary Poppins poster here , not with someone as hateful as you owning it” she stated. She once had similar views as Lit, some of her words were guilt for once thinking them.
The wrath girl kind of shrugged “Thank you for your time, I have learned a lot” she walked back to car. Marcy had closed the back seat door of the car as she spoke, but stayed near the baby. Both girls got back in car. Marcy decided to go to lake nearby. She needed to calm herself down. She didn’t talk the whole time in the car. She just couldn’t believe what she just saw and heard. Tempy fed her baby as Marcy took a dip in the water. She felt better now, but she had no plans on coming back and seeing Lit. On the way back to the farm the two girls talked a little bit about what happened. Marcy apologized to Tempy, but she was pleased with the meeting.
