Journal Entry by Orpheus
Maria impresses me sometimes, how studious she can be. She is taking after Ligeia in that manner more then she does Ter or myself, the two of us are a bit more lax when it comes to such things. The only time I seem to get into my studies is when I need to set up a skills class so I will bury myself in books to learn more about the species of the child I will be teaching on a particular day.

Maria though, Maria is different in that she seems to be quite interested in learning, always following along after Ligeia and Vorel wanting to learn from them how to speak Draconic more fluidly. She knows her numbers by heart and I hear her often counting things using them. She also knows a lot of words that she can use to speak to Vorel and she can understand the Frost well enough which seems to be something that is quite important to her. I think, perhaps, she is planning for the future in case she get a dragon that isn't able to learn English. At least that is what I gather from what she is doing. I am curious to learn what sort of dragon she will be getting, so that I am aware of what the dragon will require of our family.

Vorel is a big dragon and as such Ligeia took the room with the double doors to let him inside. Baroness took over an entire deck on the house as 'her' space that few others are allowed in. I find myself wondering if perhaps the next one might take over the pool. I suppose that we will see soon enough, once we get the letter from D-Corp telling us the breed. What's one more dragon when we already have two, right? Should be interesting... though is it bad for me to hope that the dragon is male? I really don't want another egg scare like with Baroness. I think that... well... this is going to sound bad but I really hope that is the closest to babies I have to deal with. Geia I don't worry about, he's dating a boy, but Ter on the other hand... I am begging any deity that might be listening that he doesn't go the way of his dragon. I love him and I like his girlfriend well enough but... I hope they can keep their hands to themselves.

This journal entry got away from me didn't it... I love my children and just want to make sure that they are all alright and get what they need. Today I need to go out and pick up some notebooks for Ligeia, colored pencils for Maria, and for Ter... well he hasn't actually asked me to pick anything up to though he has been asking for money here and there. I do question what he is doing with the extra cash but he's yet to be arrested so I suppose that's something for him. They are all very different in what they are into, how they spend their time, and their attitudes but they are all my children. As much as I love them though I think three is enough. haha

It Lives

The letter that arrived from D-Corp was labeled like any other making Orpheus thing that it was merely another letter from his work giving him various details about his job, about an activity coming up at the main building, or about a new project that had come forth from the incubation phase that he would one day be teaching. He got a lot of mail from him, and it had it's own special pile in his office even, though as he tore into this one and read it over he found his eyes going rather wide as he read it and upon finishing the letter he read it through again as though to make sure that he'd read it right. He did.

"Oh... damn it..." He muttered to himself, lifting on hand to rub it against his temples as he tried to figure out what he was going to do now. He was pretty sure that he wasn't allowed to refuse, was he? Likely not. The scientists were normally the ones that decided who got what dragon and it had him wondering what might cause them to decide Maria was the best one to take in the creature that they had assigned to her. It came to him a moment later of course, it was her fault that the egg, as well as the monster inside, was still alive. She had saved the egg, brought it to D-Corp, and therefore it was likely that they were going to make her responsible for what she'd done, reaping what she'd sown so to speak, "Wonderful." He muttered to himself, wondering how exactly this was going to go... and how the beast was going to behave. He knew about Wyvern fairly well by now but the Black Dragons, those he had only heard about through rumor, learned more about due to the incident at the facility when the dragons had their rebellion, and then there was Chath's dragon that he heard about from time to time from Ter and Ligeia alike.

"It's going to be a damn monster." He muttered, not liking this even one bit. Maybe he could try to go in their and appeal to Alan directly? Talk about all his years of loyal service and how he really had never asked for anything that was to over the top. Maybe he would see about granting him this one favor?

"What's a damn monster?" Came a chirping voice behind him which caused the redhead to give a rather large jump, dropping the letter from his hands which floated over to land at the feet of his youngest who knelt down to pick it up. It was one of those moments he kind of cursed her intelligence since he could see her eyes drifting over the words on the paper before she gave a gasping sound, jerking her head up to look at her father, eyes wide, "REALLY?!" She squeal, sounding far to delighted for her own good making it seem as though she had won a prize instead of being saddled with likely the most terrible thing to come out of D-Corp thus far, "When can we go and visit? Can I touch the egg? Will it be a girl? Can I put bows on her?" Came a flood of questions, the last of which had Orpheus tilting his head to one side as he tried to picture that in his head. A vicious little monster of a dragon wearing bows... that wouldn't go well, would it?

Clearing his throat he reached over to take the letter back, giving it a look. He'd hoped to clear this mess up before she could find out but it would appear he was far to late for that, wasn't he? Looking over at the girl he considered it for a long moment then said, "I will call Peri and see when we can make an appointment to go and visit." He found himself wondering if this was payback for the skills that he and Nibal had worked on. It was pretty well possible, though it was a rather dangerous version of pay back, wasn't it? Oh well, either way he would be going to that egg meeting and he would see what Peri really thought about the idea of D-Corp giving the little beast over to an oblivious girl and if it were the best fit. Maybe they had something with regeneration or heavy armoring that the monster could go to instead? Even as he was thinking on this he could tell that Maria was already day dreaming about the adventures she was going to have with her dragon.

"Maria... you are aware that it will likely be more like Baroness then Vorel, right?" He asked of her, wanting to make sure that she wasn't making all sorts of plans about how much fun they would have playing dress up.

The pangolin stopped her bouncing in place and seemed to think about it for a moment before giving a slow nod of her head, "Baroness is a bit grouchy but I know she loves Teri." She told her father in a matter of fact way, one that made Orpheus wonder if she were right or not. If anyone could deal with the Wyvern it was Ter... but Maria wasn't Ter and he hoped that she didn't grow up to be like him. Still, perhaps there was a little bit of hope? Maybe he had to look into those that had Black Dragons already in the facility and see what had become of them. If none of them had yet become lunch there was a chance that Maria might be alright, right? He surely hoped so, the last thing he wanted was to be the first person to bring a dragon back to D-Corp looking for a trade in.

"I am gonna go and clean up my room! Oh! Can we get bunk beds so she can sleep in my room?" Maria asked even as she went running out of the living room and toward her own room leaving Orpheus there trying to picture Maria and the monstrous dragon of her sharing bunk beds...
