Fanian smiled. "I could maybe help you with that, tell you of the kind of laws the elf lords in the west have made for their people, and how it has worked - sometimes well and sometimes needing improvement. I come from the farthest west, the land of blessed Aman. The Valar in their wisdom have invited all elves there, and life there is good and safe. I have come to pass on the invitation, so that your people too may know of it, should there ever come a time that you need a place of refuge. All eldar are welcome there."

Ariel walked in the woods. She heard voices and crept closer quietly, the grass bending away from her feet on its own by the power of her mind's whispers to it. She saw Noel, her lord, whom she had a crush on, with a strange pale female. They were talking and holding hands. Ariel felt jealous. No female should be so forward with him. It was improper. Who did she think she was, a stranger, to smile at him like that?

Quote: She placed her hand on top of his on the log (Yes we are, actually) Fanian looked up and smiled to Ariel also. "Hello, my name is Fanian, and your lord has kindly invited me to stay with your people." She told her.

Ariel managed a smile and curtsied to them. "Greetings, my Lord, and Fanian. I am... a bit sad, actually. So many trees have been cut down again today. Is it really necessary? They grieve. They grieve and whisper to me in my dreams. We are not unlike the humans in that, and it makes me sad. Do we really need to build our houses out of wood? I know I have spoken of this before, my Lord, and I apologize if my opinion is offending. You are a good lord and wise, and I would do anything for you, but the sadness of the trees has a hold on me and will not let me go."

I am sorry I quess I never relized how storngly you feelt about useing the trees. I am sorry. I supose we dont hafe ot use them for shelters. I dotn know what resource we would use to replace the wood but I am gonna think abou tit. I am sorry for ignoring your plee for hte trees ariel. next time just slap me across the face when I ignor someone ok.*smileing* Everybody deserves a say in what happens in this community. This is everyone's home and not jus tmy own. Everybody should have a home which they enjoy. Thanks for drawing to my attention that a different material needs to be used for our communitys homes. If you dont mind I woudl like ot finish useing the already cut reasourcess. Do you mind if I finish useing the wood I already cut for Fanian's home and then finish the house with the new resource that the community agrees on useing for shelters?

Fanian smiled. "In the land of Lothlorien in the west, the elves have built platforms in trees out of dead branches and live on them in tents and other shelters. In Mirkwood they live underground in caves and tunnels, and have made comfortable dwellings of them. Humans in some lands build houses out of clay bricks, elves and humans alike build from stone when they want houses that last. You have a strong magic it seems, young Ariel, but all strong magic has its cost."

Ariel smiled radiantly. "Thank you, my Lord. You have made me very happy. And the trees too. I don't think they would mind you using the cut trees... they are not alive anymore and feel no pain from it, and the others do not recognize anything without roots as a tree. Please don't ask me to slap you though, Lord Noel, that would be very disrespectful of me." She knelt down before him, took his hand in hers and raised it to her lips, very gently. "I could never be disrespectful of you."

Well...I have much work to do. * I walk away leaving you both in the clearing and I walk beck to where I was building the house. I pick up the cut pieces of wood and begin assembling the home.*

Fanian was surprised when Noel suddenly left. She got up. "Why do you think he got off in such a hurry?" She asked Ariel.

Ariel shrugged. "I have no idea. Where did you come from? I've never seen an elf so pale as you."

"Elves in the west are like me, and I come from the west beyond the west, over the ocean." Fanian answered.

"The west beyond the west..." Ariel murmured thoughtfully. "And you're going to stay with us? Why? I mean, why aren't you with your own people? Did they throw you out? It's dangerous for a female to travel alone. Especially in these lands, there are so many of those filthy humans." She offered her opinion.

"I'm going to stay with you at least for a while. I've left my own people voluntarily because I want to spread a message to all elves. And yes, it is dangerous for any elf to travel alone, and I would not advise a young one like you to try it, but I am skilled in defending myself and so far I have survived every danger I have been in. I leave the humans alone and they do not even know I pass through their lands." Fanian answered the girl. "Maybe we should go and see if Noel needs any help building the house?" She suggested.

Ariel was about to ask about Fanian's message, but then the other suggested they go and help Noel. She wanted to see Noel, so she nodded. "Good idea. Let's go." She started walking back to where Noel was working.
