"This should be fun," the bandit said and whirled Callista around, kissed her passionately and forcefully on the lips and then back-handed her, sending her whirling in the dust, unconscious. "Let's go lover boy." The man grabbed Callista's scimitars from the ground quickly and wielded them easily, spinning them about him, showing off.
Callista's heart stopped beating for a second as Raykine was being so heroic over this, over her. He's probably just doing this for the money, she thought unhappily, then she was abruptly spun around and then kissed. He smelled like old whisky and moldy bread and he tasted like it too. Then she was hit and on the ground, everything went black...

Raykine felt his blood boil as he charged at man quickly a bloody roar escaping his mouth. The man's eyes widen as he felt Raykine's hand wrap around his throat before Raykine slammed the bandit's body through a tree, hearing a loud snap as death came quick to him.
He grabbed her swords and ran back to Callista. He picked her up and gently shook her, "Cal....Cal! Cal!" He tried to feel for her pulse, but he was having trouble with that. His body was shaking as he held her closer, "Come on Cal....wake up...wake up..."

Callista awoke very slowly in the arms of a...man? Her eyes opened very slowly and she tilted her head back to look at him. Her breathing was shallow and weak, and she didn't know why. I didn't fall that hard, she thought to herself in anger. "Ray?..."
((Too dramatic but it builds tension))

Raykine's ears perked when he heard her voice, "Callista!" He smiled at her but realized the situation he was in. "I-I'm sorry...I wasn't sure what to do...I couldn't feel a pulse or anything." He stopped talking before he spoke again, "Are you okay?"

"I think so," she mumbled and sat up without any help, her hand flying to her head. "Ow." A bruise had formed on her head where she fell and a bruise had formed on her face where the bandit had hit her. The bandit!
"What happened to the bandit man?" Callista asked then looked over at the dead bodies. Putting her head down she closed her eyes and breathed deeply. Turning back to Raykine, she smiled. "Thank you." She grabbed his hands in her now pale ones and raised them to her forehead, the sign of thanks in elven.

Raykine knew enough about elves to know this was how they thanked those who helped them. "Can you stand? Or do we need to rest a bit, away from here?" He seemed rather concerned for her, thankful she received nothing more than a few bruises.

"We should keep moving," Callista said and stood on shaky feet. "The Dead Men will notice that their scouting party hasn't shown up and they'll be looking for them. When they find their dead men...ironic...they'll come searching for the killers." All this she said while making her way to the horse and mounting it. She smiled at Ray and kicked her horse once more and were on the the way to Orlan.
They arrived there by noon...

Raykine ran after the horse, keeping an eye of Callista. He felt a little relieved that she was okay, but just what happened forced his mind to remember memories that he didn't need to remember. "Callista! We been going for a while! Can we stop for a minute?"

"Sure," she said and pulled her horses' reigns to stop. Callista dismounted and stretched than lay on the ground with her arms behind her head. "You okay?"

He nodded his head as he took a deep drink of his canteen, but the truth was he wasn't okay. His mind keep replaying those horrible memories of his past. His stmach churned as he struggled to keep his meal down. "I'm fine," he finally spoke, "Just needed to rest for a moment."
He kept pausing to look at Cal, wondering why he felt the way he did for her.

Callista closed her eyes and sighed quietly. She could see something wasn't right with Raykine, but didn't want to say anything. Their relationship was strictly business and Cal promised herself she wouldn't fall in love, no matter how hard she fell. "Are you sure you're going to be okay? You don't look very well," she said after opening her eyes and leaned up on one elbow looking at him. Her purple eyes examined his yellow ones for any sign of pain or emotion; pain and a look she hadn't seen before.

Raykine took a deeper look at her face, admiring the graceful look of her being. He moved close to her and gentle stroked the side of her face. Her face, her hair...they looked so similar to hers.
Raykine snapped back into the present and realized what he was doing. He pulled away quickly and finished the rest of his canteen. "We'll need to refill on water soon." He stood up slowly and offered his hand to her, "Are you ready?"

She closed her eyes at his touch and then he pulled away. It took everything Callista had to not bring his hand back. "I'm ready," she said and took the offered hand and mounted her horse. "We're almost at Orlan so we can refill there. If we ride hard we should get there within less than an hour." I wonder what's hurting him so much... she thought to herself.
Within less than an hour...
Callista rode through the gates with her hood pulled over her hood. People were staring and a guard approached with hostility.
"Who be you?" he asked in broken English.
"We seek shelter," she said sternly.
He glowered but nodded his head and pointed towards the Inn. Callista dismounted once at the Inn and smiled at Ray, and threw the reins to a boy who stood there, and threw a coin to him too. Callista stumbled through the door blindly, not really knowing why when she collapsed on the floor just outside the door. The Innkeeper came rushing over to her and eye Raykine suspiciously.

Raykine kneeled next to her, whispering into her ear,"Callista...are you alright?" He looked back up at the Innkeeper, "My friend here was injuried on our way up here. Do you have any medicines that I can purchase?

The Innkeeper nodded and a young man came from the kitchen in the back and ran towards them. Turning Callista over, he checked her pulse quickly and ran to the back grabbing something. "Give this to her. You get free room tonight okay?" he said and ran to the back once more.
"You'll have to carry her up. Lomba can't carry heavy things and neither can I. Can you do it?" he asked and eyed Raykine curiously again.
Callista heard her name called but her eyes refused to answer. She could hear people talking around her, but her mouth refused to move. What the hell is wrong with me? God, not enough ale! she mused. "Ray..?" she managed to stumble out of her frozen lips.
