Regina hadn't been so into her conversation that she'd missed the boy with the pierced lip when he finally spoke to her and Teagan, after standing there and looking around. She looked over, and offered a small smirk, shrugging. "Nothin'. Who're you?" As tactful as a badger to the face, this one. Regina didn't seem at all suspicious of the boy, turning to face him with a curious smile. He was here, right? So obviously he couldn't be bad, since this was a place for good stuff. Her logic was infallable!

"Belle." Evelyn grinned, twirling about in her dress as well. It was fun to do that! "My mommy's the fairy godmother of all princesses." She said that solemnly and seriously. After all, that was Evelyn. And who could say that the other princesses didn't have a fairy godmother? After all, Cinderella had had one... why couldn't the others? Or maybe they shared a fairy godmother...

Alice didn't watch much television but she had seen some of the Disney movies and her mum had shown her the picture book versions of the Disney movies so she'd know what people were talking about. Her uncle Simon had then proceeded to tell her the stories the movies were based on which had been informative.
This meant that even though she probably viewed such things from a slightly unusual perspective she atleast knew what her friend was talking about. And to be fair they were both very pretty costumes, not enough leg freedom for Alice but still very pretty.
"Neat" Alice commented then made a long statement for her "Do you need to be a princess to have a fairy godmother?"

Evelyn had to think on that for a while. She peered up at her mother questioningly. "Do you?"
Niki chuckled. "Nope. All beautiful little girls can have a fairy godmother!" The woman smiled, obviously complimenting both children near her.
Evelyn grinned and seemed relieved. "Ah, goodie!"

"good" Alice commented. It would have been mean if you had to be a princess to have a fairy godmother but she was still a bit worried about the beautiful part, it seemed a bit unfair. Still for all she knew beautiful girls needed more help, in the fairytales they always seemed to be the ones falling into scrapes. Alice herself wasn't worried even if she didn't have a fairy godmother she didn't feel that she needed one.
It was more important now to find out what Evelyn wanted to do. There seemed to be plenty of games and food, as well as the maze. So she felt there was plenty to do but she couldn't figure out what Evelyn would want to do. She started looking around for some inspiration.

Although it's too subtle for anyone to detect just yet, something strange is going on. Maybe you feel a change in the air pressure, or a shift in the winds.
The gazebo has begun to creak.

Garrett shakes his head abruptly, and his feathers follow suit, ruffling up and out so the boy looks bedheaded all over. He clears his throat and turns to his buddy, only to gape in horror in their accidental matching of costumes.
"'M sorry, I didn't, I didn't know you were gonna be a cowboy too, Nah!" he stammers and looks anxiously at his boots. His talons scratch at the thick toes of the genuine cowboy boots, threatening to pop right out by the end of the night, especially if embarrassment such as this causes the boy to be remain sheepish and apologetic for much longer.
His right wing perks up at the apparent shift of wind, catching air along the tips of ruffled feathers oddly.

Kirra tugged at her mother's hand, towing her determinedly into the Project grounds. The toddler’s cardboard costume, carefully coloured to match the green feathers in her wings, was already starting to suffer from her exuberance, and the painted dragon mask was already bent and missing a tooth. "Are we late?” she shrilled. “There's all peoples here already! Ooh!"
Kirra paused a moment, taking in the decorations, the games and all the wonderful costumes. Everything was so scary-pretty. And there were so many children - mostly big kids, but Kirra was sure they'd be her friends anyway. Leaving her mother to lurk in a quiet corner, Kirra charged into the centre of the party, wings flapping wildly.
"I'm a dragon! Rarr!" she squealed, running in draconic circles. "I'm a candy-eating dragon! …Hey, why are there apples in the bath?"
Diverted, she stopped to ponder the strange apple-bobbing game.

"Aw, come on!" chided Nahuel, a sly grin sneaking across his face. He didn't know why Garrett wasn't as excited about their accidental matching as he was. "Great minds think alike and all that!"
He swiped a pair of cookies from the nearest platter of junk food, handed one to his friend, and munched thoughtfully on the other.
"Aw man!" he grumbled. "Where's everyone I know?"
No Hana? No Reese? He'd seen Owen, but Owen wasn't really a good friend. No Cain? What about Tea?
"You seen a lemur guy anywhere?" he asked.

Naida had never been to a party before. Looking around her, she was not sure that she liked them. There were lots of other children there, mostly older than her, and unrecognizable in their bright masks and swirling dresses. The air smelled strongly, like the chocolates and caramels and fruit-flavored candies in the bowls, and the hot sticky breath of children who had been eating them. She could smell the familiar night smells underneath it, too, like wet grass and trees and that sort of stiff smell that comes when it's chilly out. She hugged her jacket closer to her and curled her tail up to her chest.
"Mommy," she said, meaning to ask if they could go home or if she had seen Regina around, but Laura didn't hear her. She was in her wagon, which put her lower and further back than she needed to be to ask anything quietly. Suddenly she wished that she had asked her mother to carry her instead of riding in the wagon, even if it did make it harder for her to look for Gina.
Her mask began to itch around her eyes, so she pulled it off and held it in her lap. She didn't much like wearing a mask, even if she did like her costume. She was dressed as Violet from The Incredibles, who was a nice girl with long black hair who could turn invisible. Naida had thought that the costume would turn her invisible, too, but that wasn't true.
But -- there was Regina! Over by the table with all the candy, with two boys much bigger and taller than her. Gina was bigger too, she realized with a sudden lump in her throat. She grew? How was she supposed to talk to a big kid?
Before she had quite worked the thing out in her mind, Laura gave a pleased laugh and turned around to smile at her. "Hey, look at that, sweetheart!" she said, "It's Gina! Isn't she big now?," and before she knew it she and her wagon and her costume were over there, not invisible at all.
"Hi, Gina," she said, and she could feel her cheeks turn pink and hot. Was she excited or embarrassed? She couldn't tell. "You're big!"

They were late, as usual, but this time Qing had an excuse. Some madman of a professor had scheduled a midterm for Halloween night. He didn't really see what the big deal was, but the rest of the class was up in arms about it, so he gathered that it must be some inexcusable offense committed by a teacher that no one liked anyway. Fortunately for Qing, the test was an easy one, and he was able to duck out of the class early to get himself and Aidan ready for a party that they had been invited to. He hoped that Anandi would be able to join them soon.
It was difficult to walk quickly in the long, sweeping labcoat that he had pulled on to protect against the night air, but it was the only coat he had. His glasses were cracked, so he had grabbed a pair of goggles, but they didn't work as well. Qing could only hope that Aidan, dressed in his favorite navy coat, would have an easier time of things.
When they could see the Halloween decorations in the distance, Aidan pulled on Qing's hand sharply. It was awful, waiting for the party that Qing had promised they could go to, only to get there after everyone else. As they got closer, he saw kids in fancy clothes, and started to feel a bit envious. They all looked like they knew each other, but he didn't really know anyone. Yet.
Qing waved to a few people as they entered, smiling, but his expression showed concern. He didn't know that it was a costume party! They were both underdressed... well, hopefully no one would notice.

The sound of shattering wood fills the air as the gazebo buckles, sending a shower of splinters first into the air, and then into the ground as some unseen force sucks it into the earth. Left in its place is a strange pool the consistency of quicksilver, and anyone close enough to peer into its depths will see the strange patchwork layout of a far-away country reflected within it.
Every sound stops. The world falls strangely silent, like all the air has been sucked out of it. The form of a woman rises slowly out of the pool, beautiful and young, with long green hair. She surveys the gathering of partygoers, a look of utter disdain on her face, and focuses in on the red haired teen that no one has ever seen before now.
Recognition flashes in her eyes. She raises a single, shaking finger and mouths a single, silent word:
"You."
She plunges back into the pool. Noise returns in a cacophony - a thousand years of bird song, the sound of trees growing and dying, a baby's first cries, the crackle of fire as it consumes the entire world. And then there is the wind, strong and swift, the winds of the Garden that brought them out and are now calling them back. It is only felt by those who were born of leaves - their guardians don't feel it at all - and it draws them swiftly towards the rippling pool of magic.

Kyo quickly knelt down and grabbed onto Riddik and held him in his arms as the gazebo shattered into splinters and flung themselves all across the party. "What the hell?" he cursed under his breath, "are you ok?" he then looked down between his arms where Riddik was protected.
"Yeah.." The polar bear like boy responded, "I'm getting scared can we leave now..?" Riddik looked up, "I'm so hungry.." he whispered and ignored all the crazy sounds that filled the room. All he could think about was filling his stomach and that was his only concern. Then the wind came and gave a slight tug at his body.
"Don't pull on me like that, Riddik." Kyo muttered as he stood back up as best as he could, while Riddik was holding onto dear life on his leg.
"I didn't do it on purpose.." Riddik looked up at his guardian confused at what he said. He must have not felt that wind... it was pretty strong.
Then the wind picked up and was stronger this time, causing Riddik to loose his grapple on Kyo's pant leg and back he fell flat on his butt. "Ooww..." He growled and roared and showed his inner bear vocals. Further and further he was dragged and closer and closer Riddik came to the sink hole.
Kyo dove toward his charge, but his reach wasn't far enough.
"RIDDIK, this isn't time for any games!"
"Kyo! I isn't playing!" Riddik tried to dig his claws into the ground as he came closer and closer to the pool, but it was too late.

Owen froze when the gazebo broke apart the sound sending him into an instinctual still state. Then suddenly just as he tried to figure out what was happening, what he was seeing everything went quiet. He could see himself breathing rapidly but couldn't hear the beat or the thud of his heart beating in his ears.
It's confusing but again before Owen could really process what was going on a strange figure had come and gone taking with them the silence. Able to move again Owen took a step back a step away from where the gazebo had been. He didn't what had been left behind and he didn't trust himself near it.
His ears formally hanging down at his sides were picked up by the unusually strong and somewhat familiar wind that swept the area and tugged at him in the direction of the silvery pool. The sight of Riddik being pulled unwillingly towards it though moved him faster than the winds persistent urging pushes. Worried about the small boy he lunged for him using his long legs to covers the ground between them swiftly.
Paying little attention to the ground in his haste the Rabbit Eden tripped over a large chunk of fallen gazebo and reached the small white boy only to send both of them into unknown liquid.
