Luckily, the name of the "Serpant" was well known in Waterdeep. Elaith Craulnober, infamous cold-hearted former adventurer, went by that name. he owned several properties in teh city, but tracking him would be difficult. our heroes knew that they would have to investigate, and ask around for the elf's wherabouts.

Falco spoke up after a few more minutes in thought "Know I remember were I have heard that name. it is the name of an ex-adventurer named Elaith Craulnober...a nasty person to be messin' with."

Atrusgave a nod to his companion. "Well, nasty or not, it seems he wishes to hinder us if he's traveling with people that look like us. From where I'm standing we have two choices. We can go back into town and find out where he and his companions were heading when they left. However, by doing that, it gives them more time to reach thier destination and widens the gap they already have. Or we can try to track them down now. However, unless one of you is good in tracking and locating, we'd be heading forward blindly and be relying on luck. So what say you all?" Atrus asked

I could track them with me being a ranger. There is also another option we could have someone track them and someone finding out more about this serpant.

Cormac thinks for a literal second and decides, "Hmm, I should be able to *spot* someone like the Serpent - not very good at actually *finding* people, but I should be able to notice someone like that. Perhaps splitting up and gathering information on his whereabouts - and what he's up to - would be best."
(( Cormac has a pretty decent Spot skill, and should be able to *assist* in looking for him. Unless his Sense Motive is going to see some use, of course. ))

Atrus shook his head. "There's a problem with splitting up though. If the group tracking them is confronted, it'll be two agianst five. If they are skilled fighters and spellcasters, it could prove to be a quick and fatal battle." Atrus pointed out. "That, and how will those that remain behind be able to catch up with the other group if the info gathering group cannot track you guys down?" Atrus questioned. "I personally think we should spend an hour gathering info and then track them down. We could probably gather information on the way if they pass through any towns en route. And I doubt the tracks will vanish after a single hour or two from now."

"Well you never know what could happen. There maybe a change in the weather and loose the trail if it suddenly rains." Falco said looking into the sky to check for rain clouds "Then again, there is no guarantee that we would find him too soon, even if we left now."

"Perhaps so, if we were confronted with hostility by them while split up, it would indeed be fatal - splitting up could well be a bad idea," Cormac agreed on this. "However, tracks weather, and I didn't mean to suggest focus finding him directly - I meant to suggest finding out where he's headed by gathering information, Atrus. In the unlikely event he is around, it wouldn't be hard to spot him though."
Placing a little emphasis on the italicized word above, Cormac silently admits to himself that his way of wording things is oft-times terrible. Disregarding the thought anyway, he kicks his mind into motion and continues thinking.
Then he gets the idea that his clarification may, or may not, fly here.
(( *Cough* Well - for a moment there I lost track of where exactly the characters *were*, the direct result of making a quick post - disregard the OOC in the last post. Well, guess I can adapt accordingly. Also, on wording speech, that's simply how Cormac speaks and it doesn't completely reflect my own wording. ))

Bayne thinks quietly to himself as he listens to the others discussing what they feel is the best way to go.
'the problem with gathering information for even an hour would mean the imposter's have one more hour headstart and there is no garruntee that we will find out anything more about this serpant. I feel the best alternative is to leave now and try to catch up to the imposter's to find out what they are up too.'

As our heroes argue about the best course of action, a wagon trots up and the driver clears his throat loudly, wondering if they are to move out of the way so that he may pass through the north gate.

Atrus looked at the otehrs as a wagon came towards them. "Let's get out of the road. And I say let's find where the next town is from the direction that group was heading and find out some information there." Atrus said as he moved off to the side of the road. he motioned for the others to do the same.
