Kynum stood bewildered. " We ...are fine, Great Forest. eek um..how are you?" Kynum shrugged and looked to the other three for support in his conversation with the forest.

((Elven, I think Maverick meant "lost". Unless I'm wrong? o.o))
Least to say, Kayne was quite surprised when the forest began to talk. He left the . . . diplomacy to the forest to Shin, and instead turned to the guard.
"Almalexia . . . is this what this country is called, or this . . . fiefdom, or kingdom, or . . . piece of land, named?" Kayne inquired. "We would very much like if we could find shelter and hospitality in this place."
((Just a idea; think we should have that MMO "job" or "class" thing thrown in? It might make life a little more interesting.))

Kynum decided that the forest would talk to him specifically if it really wanted to. He turned to the one addressing him. "Well, I suppose it is in my job description to help along travelers in need. Come with me, we are off to Almalexia. I must warn you, however, the journey may be dangerous through the forest. Can you handle it?"

((OOC: Yeah, I meant "lost". RPing while doing AP Calculus homework is a bad idea. And I like the idea of classes, to make it more game-ish. Perhaps when we arrive to where the real "tutorial area" is, we get to choose jobs?))
"We don't have knowledge of how we got here, great forest spirit." Shin tacked on the honorific to try and remain in this presumptuously mystical spirit's good graces. "We are merely confused and desperate mortal travelers."

((Sorry about my short league of absence a dragon is fine. One thing though. I kind of like how Kynum does not know what we are. Games generally tend to have a plot like that calling players travellers if I am not mistaken so please you don't know about beta testing or things of that sort. Other than that I think we are good....))
Kira was a bit torn between the two conversations and so was paying attention to both. Finally she decided she had to ask the question bothering her since no one else thought to do so.
"Why is this called the Dragon's rocks?" she asked cautiously. She did not much fancy being burned to a crisp and eaten. Her mind was going off of the stereo typical dragon...
"Maybe we would be better off in the forest..." This place was giving her an eerie feeling and she had learned some time ago that it was better to trust her gut. Right now it was saying that they needed to move.

((ok sorry about the double post there, computer kinda screwed up. and srry about the list/lost thing, i thought he was talking about the List spirit things, if that's what they're called. i think i read about them once... sweatdrop lol))
Ailis put her hand to her mouth trying to prevent herself from bursting out in a fit of laughter. She snorted a laugh, then immediately ducked down in between the trees, her back to the four figures. 'Oh great forest'? Only druids can hear the trees speak, and few choice wizards. She had never belived the rumored travelers could be this fun. Ailis decided she could have even more amusement out of thier ignorance. However sneaky and mean it might make her seem, it was too great a trick to pass up. Ailis had always loved creating chaos in her small world.
She turned again to *Yes, tis I the great Voice of the Muntains, who represents the Wood and the Wild, and all the creatures within.* She declared, in a loud and powerful voice that shook the pine needles in front of her face. Out of the ocean at the travelers' backs, the crashing spray of wave on rock grew louder and more insistant. Ailis grinned and declared in her forest-voice, *Ye four're about to figure why this shore is called Dragon's Rocks!* Out in the increasing waves, random and sudden jets of water rose into the blue of the sky. A gurgling screech resounded, splitting the gathering tension in the air.

((Its no problem I am just try ing to figure out how to get everyone on the same page with this vague idea of mine.
Jobs.... gah I really wish I had played more video games... yeah we are going to have to do something to better equip them to survive...))
Kira jumped and was backing slowly towards the forrest"I really think it is time for us to leave now." she said in a small voice. They were unarmed. there was no way they could fight a dragon! She did not care if they thought the forest was dangerous she had an intense feeling that it was safer than these rocks.
Wether they were with her or not if they hesitated much longer she was going to run. She knew very well they could not stand up to this. If they got eaten it would be their own dum fault for not listening.

((-raises hand- I've played MMOs before. Perhaps if we could brainstorm some ways we get stuff? As in, now would be an incredibly appropriate time. Like magickal weapons that appear outta nowhere or strange mystical blessings and job skills and whatnot.))
Kayne was about to speak to the man again when the ground trembled and the ocean heaved. In a spray of salt water and an ear-splitting screech, a monstrous serpentine blue creature rose from the seas. Its scales glinted in the sun, and as it opened its might maw to roar again, it revealed to the humans on the beach dual rows of massive teeth, each razor sharp and - as far as Kayne could tell - as long as his forearm.
He was rooted to the spot in fear, a deer caught in the headlights. Kayne's brain gearing into action as he tried to estimate how fast the beast could strike.
Crap . . . and I thought this was a MMO. Where's our jobs and weapons when we need them most?!

"Kayne, move!" Shin was reckless, but not foolhardy enough to challenge such a dangerous creature at all, lest unarmed. He moved forward only to grab Kayne's wrist and jerk it, as if to try to tell him which direction to move it, and turned back to the Kira. "Go to the outskirts of the forest. If we're lucky this thing can't get on land, and we'll find you there." Looking around for anything that could be used as a distraction, two conflicting intentions battled in Shin's mind; get out of here! and protect the others! Noticing a flat and relatively weapon-sized piece of shale lying on the beach, Shin discarded all caution and dove towards it, gripping the more narrow side.
((I'm thinking of having a sort of Kingdom Hearts 'Dive to the Heart'-ish thing here, where time stops for the character as a spiritual voice explains to them jobs, as well as gives them their choice of starter classes.))

((Sounds like a good idea . . . though I've never played Kingdom Hearts before. Hmm . . . what if we have a hybrid? I was thinking of the job-specific skills and weapons that most MMOs have, job advancements, etc. etc. Since this "game" we're in is supposedly revolutionary, I think we should have a wider range of starting classes (I'm thinking Ragnarok Online) that fit us according to our personalities and strengths. But the "Dive to the Heart" idea is intriguing. What does the Threadmistress think? I'd go into the idea right away, but I want to get her consent first.))
As Shin pulled at Kayne's arm, the boy seemed to finally find his feet. And his voice. With a cry of shock and fear Kayne stumbled backwards, only to trip and fall. Scrambling up, the teenaged male began to run when he saw Shin snatch up his crude weapon from the shores. Is he nuts?! That sea serpent's gonna use it for a toothpick after it's done with him!
But as he stared at the beast, he couldn't help but marvel it, even with his already dangerously close proximity to it.
"Fascinating . . . according to The Mythical Bestiary, this is a serpentalis occidentalis maritimus, the Occidental Sea Serpent," Kayne murmured feverishly to himself. "Average lifespan of 250 years, Sea Serpents are often mistaken as "dragons" of the sea, due to their monstrous size and dragon-like features. They are, in fact, not dragons, but a relative, possibly descended from a common ancestor . . ."

Purely OOC post: I'm with you in the wider range of jobs and classes idea. Instead of the default warrior/knight class that seems to just pick up a sword and hack away at things, my character was going to start as a soldier and promote into units focused on protecting its allies more than hunting down its foes. So, our final jobs would reflect our personalities rather than the stock melee/ranged/black mage/white mage/gimmick line up.

OOC: Interesting . . . so like a Rangarok Online "Crusader" or an Etrian Odessey "Protector".
I was thinking of Final Fantasy Tactics too . . . how you have to have certain requirements of a certain job in order to advance. That way we have a larger range of advancement jobs to pick and choose from.
As for Kayne, I was thinking of starting off as a generic magi and becoming more of a scholar-magi, similar to a blend of a tactician, the Final Fantasy Blue Mage, Sage, and Scholar.
I like how this is going. It's starting to really turn revolutionary. We're taking the unique aspects of a whole bunch of games and throwing them together. Personal opinion, I'll shut up now.

{{I like the classes idea. Sorry I haven't been around lately xp . Is someone going to make the classes? Are they going to be based on our characters? I'd be happy to think about this kind of stuff, as my friends and I like to make these sorts of things. All are up to thread-mistress}} As the colossal beast menaced the group with its presence Kynum took the time to draw his sword, which wasn't anything to right home about with its simplicity. Kynum knew that he couldn't possibly do anything about this creature with a battalion of men at his back, much less these unarmed travelers. With a grimace on his face he cursed as he watched one of the group heave himself to the ground. Kynum didn't know if he was trying to make himself less visible or what, suffice it to say that the boy on the ground was insane. Kynum ran a few steps to the boy and faced the creature with his sword at the ready. "We'd better get going...right now would be jolly." Kynum was ready to run as soon as the one next to him regained his senses. To the forest!

((whoa hay...i missed alot...lol srry i haven't been on lately. i like the classes/jobs idea, sounds like it can develop the thread and make the theme more rounded. will the job/class be based on the character?))
Ailis blinked the grin away when the serpent appeared. She had always loved the "dragon", as she had loved the actual dragons that thrived on the Northern cliffs. She admired the shimmering blue scales that armor-plated most of his slithering body, and followed the singe black line that ran up his back to mask around his eyes. *The serpent called Sinion doesn't take kindly to trespassers, it's best ye be getting offa his Rocks!* Ailis called, finally revealing herself from her pearch in the mighty pine. She kept her hand on the hilt of her blade, ready to jump in if absolutely necessary.
