Survey Time!
Part 1: The Basics
1. What is your full name?
Melete Ourania Kelahen.
2. Where and when were you born?
In Neilan, during the harvest month.
3. Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.)
My mother passed away while I was quite small. My father is working far away, and I have barely seen him. I know little about either of them.
4. Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?
Without my mother and father, I was mostly raised by my brother, Elgei. He is absolutely wonderful. Strong, clever, confident, and a harder worker than anyone else on Neilan. He has done everything for me, including arranging my exchange visit to Gaia, often at his own expense. I could not imagine my life without him.
5. Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people.
While at home, I live with my brother in a small house in our village. While on Gaia, I stay with a man named Lionel, who was appointed my guardian there, and his charge Kinnison, in a large castle in the woods Northeast of Barton.
6. What is your occupation?
Currently I am unemployed.
7. Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks.
My hair is a dark auburn-brown, with lighter sections in the front that were once bleached. I am of average height and weight, neither tall nor short, thin nor fat. Under one eye I have a tribal marking, which I have had since I was very small.
8. To which social class do you belong?
I am not sure about this question, but I believe that we are of the class that is not elders, nor laborers.
9. Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?
None that I am aware of.
10. Are you right- or left-handed?
Right-handed.
11. What does your voice sound like?
Brother says that my voice always sounds like I am singing, even when I am not. He uses the word melodic. I believe that even when I am angry, my voice is light and too soft.
12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?
I think I am creative enough to avoid saying the same thing repeatedly.
13. What do you have in your pockets?
A bag of tea, some Gold, and an unsharpened pencil.
14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?
I have been informed that when I'm confused I feel angry instead. Brother says that when I am wrong, or lost, it is easy to find me because my mind explodes. I am not sure I believe him.
Part 2: Growing Up
15. How would you describe your childhood in general?
Pleasant. It was not without its ordeals, but I remember it well enough.
16. What is your earliest memory?
My mother's death. I do not remember the event, only the extreme sadness that my father and brother felt, and being confused.
17. How much schooling have you had?
Primary and secondary education on Neilan. While on Gaia, I took a correspondence course, and finished my required education upon my return.
18. Did you enjoy school?
It was neither enjoyable nor unenjoyable. It simply was.
19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?
If I have learned anything, it was either from school, the elders, or Elgei.
20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.
Brother. He always managed to do so much, even when it was hurting him.
21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?
The only other member of my family is Elgei. We got along very well.
22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A god. Or, one day, to be an elder of the village.
23. As a child, what were your favorite activities?
Playing with my friends, cooking, and knitting.
24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?
Brother says that I was forceful. My friend Calara says that I was active, and always doing something. I don't remember being bored.
25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?
I was popular with those I agreed with, unpopular with those who disagreed. My two best friends were, and still are, Calara and Milgi. Calara is very sweet and agreeable and likes to be friends with everyone, but very tough when she has to be. Milgi is a slacker, but has a kind heart under his lazy body. I think.
26. When and with whom was your first kiss?
I have never kissed anyone.
27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?
I am still a virgin.
28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today.
I am not supernatural. I am simply Neilani. Therefore, anything I can do, while it may be considered strange on Gaia, is normal on Neilan.
Part 3: Past Influences
29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?
Being sent away to Gaia. It changed my perspective. I am not sure that was a good thing yet.
30. Who has had the most influence on you?
Brother, always.
31. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
I don't think it has come yet. I hope it has not.
32. What is your greatest regret?
Again, I don't believe it has come yet. But maybe it has.
33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done?
I try not to think in terms of evil.
34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind?
No.
35. When was the time you were the most frightened?
When my mother died. The feelings of my father and brother were overwhelming, and it scared me.
36. What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you?
There are several, none of which I wish to name.
37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why?
The past is not meant to be changed.
38. What is your best memory?
Returning home after being on Gaia.
39. What is your worst memory?
Returning home after being on Gaia, after the first days.
Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions
40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?
Neither view is helpful in looking at the world.
41. What is your greatest fear?
Learning that everything was for nothing.
42. What are your religious views?
Intimate and difficult to describe. I do, however, believe very strongly in beings more powerful than Gaians or some Neilani could imagine.
43. What are your political views?
That politics should be left to the ones meant to deal with them.
44. What are your views on sex?
Necessary for reproduction, but otherwise unimportant.
45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable?
I believe that if necessary, I would be able to kill, but I try not to imagine such a situation.
46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do?
Take away someone else's chance out of spite. Or any action with spite as its root.
47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love?
Yes. I have yet to see proof, however.
48. What do you believe makes a successful life?
Hard work. Nothing is possible without work and belief in oneself.
49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)?
I do not like to share my true feelings, unless it is with Elgei or Calara, but I am annoyingly easy to read to most people.
50. Do you have any biases or prejudices?
I did. Now I'm not so sure. Gaians still have a long way to go.
51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it?
I would refuse to surrender my beliefs to anyone.
52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)?
Brother. Calara and Milgi. Perhaps Mister Lionel. In the line of duty.
Part 5: Relationships With Others
53. In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how?
I treat them the same way they treat me.
54. Who is the most important person in your life, and why?
Elgei. I would not have made it this far without him.
55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
Elgei.
56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people.
Calara and Milgi are my best friends. On Gaia, I suppose Nusumu and Xue could be friends, but they are very strange.
57. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person.
I do not.
58. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened.
No.
59. What do you look for in a potential lover?
I am not looking for a lover.
60. How close are you to your family?
Elgei is my family, and he is the most important thing to me.
61. Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not?
I have not. Maybe someday.
62. Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help?
Brother. The gods, perhaps, now that I know.
63. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why?
Brother. Calara's mother as well. She helped Elgei take care of me when I was small, and while we are more distant now, I place my trust in her.
64. If you died or went missing, who would miss you?
Brother and my friends, I would imagine. No one else.
65. Who is the person you despise the most, and why?
I do not despise anyone.
66. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
Conflict is not pleasant, but sometimes necessary.
67. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations?
No. I have no desire to be a leader, they get blamed if the plan fails.
68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not?
Large groups make me anxious.
69. Do you care what others think of you?
No.
Part 6: Likes And Dislikes
70. What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes?
I still like to knit, sometimes. It helps me relax.
71. What is your most treasured possession?
My necklace. It was once my mother's.
72. What is your favorite color?
Natural shades. Greens and browns, and clay red.
73. What is your favorite food?
I don't have a favorite food, but I cannot go long without Neilani tea. Filuti is my favorite.
74. What, if anything, do you like to read?
Reading is studying. I rarely read for pleasure.
75. What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, etc.)
I prefer smaller, personal social events. Conversations. Dances.
76. Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit?
No, no, and no.
77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night?
Saturday is the same as any other night.
78. What makes you laugh?
Milgi, when he acts up.
79. What, if anything, shocks or offends you?
Most Gaians.
80. What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself?
I would try to get back to sleep, or knit.
81. How do you deal with stress?
Knitting. Talking to Brother helps, when I am able. Doing something constructive helps as well.
82. Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan?
Plans make things better, even if they aren't followed.
83. What are your pet peeves?
Gaians. Other idiots. Being teased.
Part 7: Self Images And Etc.
84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted?
I no longer have a routine. This in itself disturbs me.
85. What is your greatest strength as a person?
I can survive anything, thanks to Brother having supported me. I have even survived without him.
86. What is your greatest weakness?
I am still unsure around the unknown.
87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
My looming feelings of anger. They are present, but I am not sure why.
88. Are you generally introverted or extroverted?
Introverted, usually. I think before I act, and often instead.
89. Are you generally organized or messy?
Organization is key.
90. Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at.
I am good at cooking, knitting, and working with simple mechanics due to Brother's tutelage. I am bad at housework, staying calm inside, and talking to others.
91. Do you like yourself?
I try to.
92. What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons...)
What?
93. What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime?
I want to find the person I am.
94. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Somewhere else.
95. If you could choose, how would you want to die?
Doing what I have been asked to do, knowing that I am loved.
96. If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left.
Find Elgei and Calara. Nothing else would matter.
97. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death?
I don't know yet. Being remembered, provided it was not for anything bad, would be enough.
98. What three words best describe your personality?
Unsure, even, and... I don't know.
99. What three words would others probably use to describe you?
Angry, unsure, and perhaps deceptive.
100. If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character? (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice...)
