Dude-LAP Vikingsprincess5 Dude-LAP Vikingsprincess5 Dude-LAP Vikingsprincess5 Why not? He has made no signs of improvement. Hey Jcsb! blaugh Because then Vikings head coach Brad Childress would be contradicting himself. He was so high on Tavaris Jackson towards the end of last season and during the entire offseason. He has tried to build the offense around him. The Vikings offensive line struggled a lot during the beginning of this season, often forcing Jackson out of the pocket. ...It was kind of like the St. Louis Rams situation, where the offensive line played horrible and Bulger was held responsible and benched as punishment (although Rams new coach Haslett restored his duty). I wouldn't compare this to the Rams. They have no offense all year and their defense forgot how to play. The Vikings have a great run game and a great defense. Other than Shianco, who surprisingly has started to catch more than drop the ball (I suspect cheating) the Vikings have had good receiver play. Bernard hasn't lived up to his hype, but he's doing better with Ferotte under center. Rice has been hurt, but wouldn't be surprised if look much better with Ferotte under center. Childress admitting that he was wrong about Jackson might mean he's finally grown up. Jackson has played bad since he threw against the Jets in his first start a couple of years ago. Some of the throws he makes leaves me thinking.... "Why does it look like he's trying to leap over Matt Birk (all-pro center) and throw the ball, and then he has it soar about twenty feet over his receiver's head into Green Bay's safety? He know he's wearing purple right? Not Green." I agree that the Vikings have the better running game with Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor. Minnesota has a great run blocking line, but not such a solid pass blocking line. The Rams, on the other hand, have a horrible pass and run blocking line, so Steven Jackson is the running back that makes things happen more. He's a great runner and catcher of the ball, can block, and is great in open space. Berrian was a good addition to the Vikings, but the Rams still have the better passing game. Bulger is the better QB, and Holt, McMichael, Jackson, and Bennett is the better receiving core. ...And I'm not sold on either defense. The Rams defense is pure suckage, while the Vikings have a very good front 7 but a subpar secondary. Well Bryant McKinnie is one of the better pass blocking tackles in the game, Hutch does it all and Matt Birk is one of the best centers in the game. Anthony Herrera and Ryan Cook do suck at pass blocking, but that's the right side only. I like Holt over all of the Vikings receivers, but Bennett hasn't played that well and neither has McMichael since going to the Rams. I feel Sidney Rice could be a very good end zone receiver when given the chance, Berrian is a proven burner and Chester Taylor can make things happen in the passing game as well as any running back in the league. I remind you Peterson has been playing injuried the past couple of games and he's still second in the league for yards. First in the league if you put the immensely overrated Michael Turner in the same schedule as Peterson. I'd choose Peterson way before I'd choose a baby like Jackson for a running back. On defense the Vikings like you said have one of the top 5 in the game, while the secondary appears shaking, but lets remember that we've had a rookie in at free safety due to the Medieu Williams injury. I will say though I think Sharper has lost a step or two, and so has Antoine Winfield although speed should upset his game to much. I feel that we have the strongest and one of the more aggressive secondaries in the NFL which is why teams are always able kill us with the deep ball. Williams should fix that a bit. I would like to also state the Vikings are not in the same class as the Rams, not even close. Only one more win maybe, but each any every game has been really close. The Rams have gotten blown out in almost all of them. Well ,Holt is the best receiver between the two teams. Bennett has been injured and McMichael usually gets double-teamed because of his athleticism. Bulger is also a step ahead of Tavaris Jackson and Frerotte. Berrian has speed and route running skills, but has terrible hands. Rice is fast and has good hands, but isn't the physical receiver that the Vikings need, especially at the line of scrimmage. Anyways, I, too, would take Adrian Peterson over SJax, but you cant call Jackson a baby. He's one of the most physical runners in the game, is a yardage beast, and makes big plays. What really separates the two teams, though, is defense. The Vikings have a promising defense, while the Rams are shaky all over. About the Minnesota secondary, they do bite too often, and they don't play smart as a group, although Sharper is one of the best in the game. It's really the cornerback position that's killing you... I agree with the Vikings secondary, they are way to aggressive like I said, though Williams has yet to play and he's a much more conservative than the rest of the group. I called Jackson a baby because of his off the field issues. He can be a monster on the field. I believe that injuries should effect how people judge a player. Drew Bennett being injured makes him less dominating. I'd take Berrian and Rice over him any day. Vikings: Quarterback: way below average (This is obviously the weak link) running back: way over average (Peterson + Taylor = dominance) receivers: average (They suffer from poor quarterback play) tight ends: way below average (Wait until Mills makes a name for himself) offensive line: above average (we were missing McKinnie for I think 4 games) Rams: Quarterback: average (injury prone even with strong play) running back: above average (Stephen Jackson does it all) receivers: average (Torry Holt, without him below average) tight ends: average offensive line: way below average

Neither team has had anyone to consistantly throw the ball to the receivers, so they've all looked awful. As for our secondary, Griffin and McCauley are young, and Winfield always goes for a big hit, or a big play, and when he misses, that's when it's bad. Safeties, Sharper is one of the best in the league right now, but age is catching up to him, and he's making his share of mistakes. When Madieu Williams gets back on the field, that's a big upgrade to the rookie Tyrell Johnson, because of experience. I'd keep going, but I gotta go to school. D:

D: Well back to the best receiver between the teams...I personally think it goes to Torry Holt in a landslide. He has been one of the best receivers of the decade, and he can still get it done. Maybe he seems so dominating because he had the good QBs Warner and Bulger throwing to him, instead of the bad Grossman/Orton who threw to Berrian in his Chicago days. The QB situation for Berrian is a little better with the Vikings, but he doesn't have the QB he needs to get him into the open field.
