Lai smiled nervously as Shee leaned close to him. What was the woman doing and why was she squinting so? ...Oh, she might be trying to picture him in glasses. He chuckled.
"If it helps with your image they are thin framed glasses in a half moon shape for the lenses. Wire on the bottom, not on the top." He laughed a little again at Shee's want of dessert food.
"There is some in the freezer that I have made, or I could see what I can make for you at this moment."

Shee giggled at Lai's description of his glasses. "They sound perfectly suited for you. Just what I was picturing."
At Lai's offer, she started. "Oh no! I was just saying. You don't have to make anything for me. It's better if I don't eat anything else anyways. I haven't gone over to the training facility for so long..."

He beamed at her.
"Thank you. Hopefully you will see me in them soon. Maybe I can incorporate them into my Hallo-ween costume somehow."
At the mention of the training facility he side glanced at the bandage on his cheek. He hadn't been there in awhile either.
"Whatever works best for you Shee." Yay, he had remembered not to add the 'Miss' as she requested. "Shall we go take a look at that fabric now?"

"Hopefully!" Shee laughed as she imagined Lai as something scary... with glasses. "Although I don't think you can be anything scary with glasses. That just sort of ruins the illusion. Monsters aren't supposed to be farsighted."
She jumped up as he continued. Waiting was not her strong suit. "Yes! Come on!"
Pushing open the door a little too eagerly, she winced as it made contact with the wall, and then forgetting it almost immediately, bounced down the hallway.
"Come on Lai!"

"I was not thinking of going as anything scary. I am not a very scary person." He tried to imagine himself as something horrifying and could not, the very idea made him smile. "I just cannot see myself in anything like that, but I am sure I could find something."
He laughed as Shee's enthusiasm got the better of her and followed her out the door.
"Alright, alright I am coming. Slow down or I might not be able to keep up!"

"You're going to have to do better than that as a member of LOTUS!" Shee teased, as they rounded on the atrium, her voice echoing, bouncing back across the vast white walls and reaching into the impossibly high ceilings before fading out.
Shee reached the stairs that led up to the residences, and slowed down a bit, remembering the last incident involving stairs, Sebastien, and a lot of ice cream.

"Then I shall do better!" Lai's voice also echoed and he kept up with Shee reasonably well thanks to his long legs. The Russian slowed when Shee did and took a couple of steps on to the stairs.
"This way I take it?"

Shee laughed with delight as Lai caught up to her. She turned back to look at him. "Yes. My room's all the way at the end, by the south grounds. It does take a while to get around, but I wouldn't have it any either way." She began to hum a quiet little melody to herself, amplified by the high walls of the hallway they were now walking down. "There are too many hallways here." Stopping in front of a jali door, she looked at Lai again and couldn't keep the teasing tone out of her voice. "Now, don't be mad that you don't have a room quite as big as mine. Senority, remember?" The door opened to reveal a room at odds with the pristine blankness of the rest of the compound. Bright, jewel-toned silks draped every corner of the space, and intricate, jali arabesque trailed up the walls. Shee walked across the long, rectangular main space and turned left and through a cusped arch complete with a deep, rich purple curtain, brushing it lightly. She kneeled in front of a dark wooden chest, open to reveal bolts of brightly coloured silks, lying haphazardly on top of one another. ((I'm sorry; didn't have time to draw up her room yet, but here's the basic idea: [x] ))

"That is good you do not mind. Walking is good for the body anyway. Plus walks are good for thinking and clearing of the mind." Lai followed quietly, idly looking at the doors on the walls and the flooring. He smiled at the tone Shee gave him.
"I rather like my small room, it is a good size for me. I do not require much space. But yes, I remember."
As Lai followed Shee into her room he was pleasantly taken aback by the color the room held. It was quite different than his empty, for now sepia toned room. The Russian trailed after Shee, now looking wide eyed at the walls more than where he was going. Once the woman disappeared behind the purple curtain he waited outside of it, not wanting to intrude unless invited.
"Your room is quite decadent Shee. Very colorful."

"Why thank you. Colour is wonderful, don't you think? What's your favorite colour, Lai?"
Shee frowned as she realized she was talking to empty air; she got back up and lightly skittered back across the floor of geometric tiles, her shoes making a small noise each time they hit the floor.
Stopping inches in front of Lai, she motioned to grab his hand in hers in order to drag him across the room.
"Why'd you just stop there? Come on!"

"I do not have a favorite one, I like all colors. They are wonderful, yes." He kept his eyes on the wall that held the purple curtain up. He perked and looked at the curtain as Shee approached from behind it and as she took his hand he started but followed with no protest.
"I did not know if you wanted me to go in there or not. That is why I was outside the curtain."

"That's the perfect answer, Lai! Exactly how I feel; I mean, how can you choose just one?"
Turning, and looking up (for Lai, disappointingly, was also much taller than her), Shee's face held an expression of dissatisfaction. "Well, I did bring you all the way here. It would be silly for you to stop so close to our goal. Besides, I'd be a fool to keep anything I didn't want others to see in such a place."
Shee stopped in front of the chest full of fabric. She let go of Lai's hand and picked up a bolt of red chiffon, draping it over herself. "What do you think? I was going to get a sari made of this one, but I haven't been allowed out of the compound for a while. But," she stopped, dropping the red fabric and picking up a roll of turquoise poplin, and proceeding to unfurl it with a flourish, "this isn't about me; it's about you. See anything you like?"

"I am glad I could provide a satisfactory answer Shee." He smiled again but it faded as he saw the look on Shee's face. Oh dear, what had he done?
"Ah I see." The smile reappeared as she explained. "I was worried I did something wrong for a moment there."
Lai followed Shee over and looked pleased at her array of fabrics. Some of these were made of things he had never seen before. Same for the colors, he couldn't identify some of them. As Shee showed off the red color, the Russian nodded.
"It would make a nice outfit. Hm...Maybe if you would like, and I find some books on them, I could make you that sari. It might not be perfect though, I have never sewn such a thing." He stepped to the chest and rifled through the top layer, eying colors and feeling material. "Hm...Not yet, but I am sure I can find something."

"Oh, no. You didn't do anything. Trust me, you'd know if you did something wrong."
Shee beamed at Lai and his offer. "Really? You'd do that? I'm sure you'd do a great job!" She sat back down quietly and settled for watching Lai rifle through the chest.
"So, do you have any idea what you're going to be for Halloween?"

"Good to know and I shall make sure never to cross you Shee. I would prefer to stay on everyone's good sides." Lai picked up a swatch of dark purple cloth, almost the same shade as the curtain but just a shade or two darker.
"This is nice. Feels like cotton or something similar. Oh!" He turned to Shee. "It would be no trouble at all. Plus it would help prevent me from getting rusty as well as trying my hand at something new. It might take some time though, as I do everything by hand."
At the question he shook his head and put the swatch off to the side. "I have not the faintest idea yet. How about you? Any ideas?"
