Ketsueki chuckled softly. "No thanks needed. I am more than grateful to have you as a friend, honestly." he murmured truthfully with a curt dip of his head. Gazing blankly into the distance, he detected the small flutter that was trying to arise in his stomach again. "It's funny how even the most secluded of otters can find themselves so at ease in another's company."

Morgana smiled at him gently, her red eyed gaze soft, "Very true and I do lo-...like being in your company." she said, blushing when she almost said the l-o-v-e word and she wasn't sure why it made her feel all giddy inside at the thought of saying that to him.

He gave her a warm smile before glancing down at his paws. His ear flicked lightly at the change of wording in her sentence, but he let it slide. "Thank you... You're the first to ever say that to me. I suppose most otters wouldn't even come near me because of my appearance... And I don't even know how I look. I always thought it was the blood. Most people prefer their blood inside of their body, and since I'm different..." he trailed off and shrugged "Maybe if I could see myself compared to them, I could understand why, but it doesn't really matter much to me anymore. Over the years I've grown used to it and leave others to their opinions."

"Well, if you makes you feel better, I know exactly how you feel. I mean, I haven't always looked the way I do now, not after what happened, but....well, I prefer you the way you are." she said softly.

Ketsu blushed slightly could feel the flutter in his stomach rise. "It means alot to hear you say that... thank you." He fell silent for a moment before finally deciding to ask, "You were different before?"

Morgana nodded her head, silent for a moment, "Yes, I was what others might call...normal, I didn't bleed or look like you could see my skeleton. I had my family, my mother and father, my sister and brother." she explained in a soft voice, feeling a few tears come to her eyes at the thought of her lost family.

Ketsueki felt his throat tighten in dismay as he realized he prodded a sore subject. "I... I'm sorry..." Figeting slightly, he gave her a small, apologetic nuzzle before pulling his muzzle away shyly. "I wish I could understand... honestly. But I couldn't remember if I tried... My earliest memory is that of a trembling ground, burning light, a loud, headsplitting sound and then..." he swallowed hard, tasting the blood at the back of his throat. "... and then there was a cold darkness... And that's how it's been since. I don't remember if I looked different before then... I can't recall any memory of family either..." He sighed and buried his muzzle under his forepaws. "Even if I did have a blood family, they've probably long forgotten about me by now."

She wiped at her eyes with her paws to clean off her tears, looking to the male he when spoke. Her heart broke a little for him as he talked about all he could remember and she scooted closer to him and nuzzled her cheek against his own, "I am sure your family does remember you and they probably miss you so much. I....I know I would, if you went missing and never came back." she said softly.

Ketsu blinked, realizing how open he must have felt around Morgana to reveal part of his unknown past; a topic he would usually shy from. His head slowly lifted as he felt the warmth of her fur on his cheek. Lowering his eyes, he blushed softly. "T-thank you," he murmured. Before, if Ketsu knew he would be missed by another, he would have felt surprised to find that someone was concerned for his welfare. But hearing Morgana express concern made him feel as though he actually had a meaning in 'life'. He wasn't exactly sure how to put it into words, more so, he feared receiving a negative reaction if he did.

"You're welcome." she said back in a soft tone, laying her head on her paws and closing her eyes for a few moments. She felt quite tired, carting around a basket of clams certainly wasn't easy. She had to wonder just when the pups would finally emerge, big enough to be out in the open.
