Task 1: Finding a Character IdeaI'll be using my character from the old guild with a few revisions and a bit more depth to him; Shayne Knight, son of Jeffrey Knight. Teenage ninja who uses spoons as a form of ranged weaponry. Keen hand-eye coordination and the ability to throw objects with deadly accuracy and force. Has lived in many parts of the world with his father despite complaints from his mother about not having a stable home. Has a passion for alliteration. Civilian Super These are just two of many... Task Two: A/S/L?!?Shayne is a seventeen year old male *gasp*. He has lived in Japan, Korea, France, Russia, Brazil, and several cities throughout the United States.

Okay, because I know you won't hate me, I'll be blunt, Lala.
Your apprearences should be in complete sentences. How does she usually dress? Does she have any distinguishing features? Just generally elaborate there.
Because she can become invisible, does she need a costume? Instead of saying "I don't know yet" you could even say "none". Or maybe she wears all black? Just to be cliche?
"Tiny" has only one "n". Also: What do you mean by mind erasing? That sentance is also a run-on. Fix plz? Kthnxbai.
Does she have a secondary power?
How does her weakness effect her? Why pink lawn flamingos?
Re-read your personality and background. The sentences are icky. Also, right now in the bio you basically only explain how she got her powers. What happened before then? How badly did she greive for her friend? Does it still tear her to pieces? What is her home life like? Was she picked on at all? Etc, etc, etc.... Just generally expand in your profile. You have a great start, it just needs a little bit more work.

Lala: I agree; the appearance does need a bit of work. For starters, what do "blue" and "black" describe?
Double-check everything to make sure there aren't run-on sentences. A lot of the people here are here to have fun and aren't going to be too serious, but we all still appreciate people taking time and care to use proper English.
Excellent primary power--perhaps the invisibility and something else can be made into secondary powers?
The weakness is a bit lacking--you have a couple big strengths but only one weakness that you may not even encounter.
The personality really intrigues me--I'd love to see what you can do with that. You said that people may not approach her; is she too withdrawn or protected, or does she just encounter a lot of cruel people? How does she deal with her emotions, and how much do they influence her?
The biography's always going to be the longest section. It's very detailed and interesting as it is, but perhaps you could elaborate a little more on the origin of her powers. You've stated where and when, and I'm getting the impression that the powers emerged out of stress, but were they hereditary or acquired through some prior event? How is she training herself, and how is it coming along?
Everything else looks great so far. If you clean up the grammar a bit and add some more info to a few spots, I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be accepted.
Kenji: Looks like a good start. I'm afraid I haven't had the pleasure of seeing your previous character. I'd love to see how you play it, especially in regard to the location. Your character sure seems to have traveled a lot. That must've been stressful... and expensive...

Task 3.5 I'm going to begin to give Penelope her powers. I wasn't going to do anything with her powers for quite some time into the story, but I feel bad giving her nothing.
Whenever Penelope gets excited or angry or feels any other strong emotion, things happen. This might be as simple as a slight breeze or a sudden change in temperature or as powerful as shattering glass. Whatever happens, it's always accompanied by a very unnatural and (if she's feeling a particularly negative emotion) disturbing feeling. She has no control over this power and is barely even aware of it.

Name: Rebecca Dusinane
AKA: The Crow (eventually)
Current Age: 16
Appearance: Rebecca is a pretty average looking sort of girl. She's five foot six, neither slender nor wide, and has brown hair and eyes... basically she's pretty plain. She could easily be one of those random people you see in stock footage of crowds on the news when they're talking about things that affect "most people." And frankly Rebecca doesn't put much into her personal appearance at all... seeing as she spends her work day with people who aren't in the earthly realm, there's not a lot of need for her to look specially nice. Usually her outfits consist of polo shirts and dress slacks, turtlenecks, etc.
Costume: As yet, none.
Primary Power: Necrokinesis. Rebecca seems to have the ability to manipulate the spirits--and bodies--of dead things. She's only recently discovered this "talent" and has a little trouble controlling it... sometimes dead animals will just follow her around and help her with her daily routine. This used to freak her out, but now she's grown used to it... at least she's gotten that one dog to stop delivering her newspaper.
Secondary Power(s): Spirit Communication. Rebecca is able to speak to the spirits of the recently-departed.
Weakness: She is terribly allergic to eggs and can barely even stand the sight of them. Do not eat eggs in her presence.
Personality: Rebecca is what most people would call quirky. Being so close to death on a daily basis gives her a rather dark sense of humor and manner of conversation, but despite her morbidity she isn't a pessimist or close to it. It's only recently that Rebecca has discovered there is anything out of the ordinary with her life. Rebecca likes things neat and orderly, and when they aren't that way she can get a little tetchy. Her temper has been rather brittle for a while because of this.
Biography:
Rebecca was born to the Dusinanes, proprieters of one of the most reputable funeral parlors in the area: Dusinane Funerary Home. It's a longstanding family business, one that she has every expectation of entering into. Rebecca feels that her future is pretty assured... a little morbid, yes, but she had never really thought it unnerving until beginning school. She was teased by the other students for her parents' rather morbid profession.
As the years went on, Rebecca stopped trying to be accepted and instead decided to try and turn things to her advantage. Instead of being hurt and offended when some idiot decided to make "boogie-boogie" noises at her or otherwise make unwarranted cracks about her parents' perfectly legitimate trade, she would simply stop, stare, and give them a creepy smile... perhaps with a phrase like "Take your Daughter to Work day is coming up... I sure hope I don't see you there, Jimmy."
She pretty much kept up with this attitude. It didn't earn her many friends, but she found that she rather enjoyed creeping people out. The solitude wasn't a great object... she got along well with her parents and she had never really been a people person anyhow.
When she entered high school, Rebecca began noticing something strange. When she squished spiders and insects, they seemed to come back to life... even when she squashed them repeatedly. She dealt with this by... not squashing them anymore. Frankly it was a little too weird for her to try to explain to anyone. Other things began happening... once she was on a walk and saw a roadkilled squirrel get up and skitter off, despite the fact that its innards were still a pink mash.
Rebecca has decided not to tell anyone about these strange occurances... so far, they have only happened when she was alone which leads her to believe them a hallucination of some kind. It happens sporadically, anywhere from a few days separated to a few months. Now a junior, Rebecca has told herself that the next time it happens she's telling somebdy about it.
Goals/Motives: Rebecca's goals are to first off, find out what the hell is going on with her life and how to fix it. A secondary goal is trying to figure out how her powers can be used in any way that's beneficial.
Vices: She watches TV court shows. Judge Judy is her favorite.
Other: Not at the moment!

i worked on my character again. i hope its better!
Name: Hateya Murphy
AKA: The Mummblaa
Current Age: 17
Appearance: 5’4”, 120 lb, pale pale blue eyes that are useful for when she goes invisible, black hair which is unlike her soul, her soul is pure white
Costume: Hateya has yet to find a fabric at the local Joann fabrics that will become invisible along with her. So at this current moment, she does her super hero thing naked.
Primary Power: When Hateya feels threatened she can make her tiny mouse voice become a booming, mind throbbing sound. She is trying to control this power to the point where she can use it while not being threatened at all.
Secondary Power(s): She can make herself invisible whenever she wants.
Weakness: Her weakness is pink lawn flamingos because her best friend used to have a pink flamingo collection. Hateya has gotten to the point where she sees a pink flamingo in the stores, she smiles and laughs. When Hateya sees a lawn flamingo, she gets really sad and cannot do anything but cry herself to sleep because Mahdis always dreamed of going to the pink flamingo factory before it closed but never made it.
Personality: She is really really quiet throughout the school scene. She is a nice girl but people don’t really want to get to know her and she doesn’t want to be friends with kids that inadvertently killed her best friend. She thinks life is important and uses her power to stick up for all the bullied kids in Delmor because she knows what happens first hand to some kids that get bullied too far.
Biography: The Mummblaa lived her whole life in Delmor but never had many friends. When she was in middle school, she had one best friend named Mahdis. Mahdis was bullied beyond belief. The only person that knew the truth of how bad it was was Hateya. She tried to help Mahdis but nothing worked, the bullying only got worse. Hateya found out how to use her invisibility with Mahdis, and used it to get away from the bullies. Mahdis tried to stick it out but couldn’t and did something that no one would ever want to see happen. She overdosed on her parents prescription drugs one night and never woke up. Hateya was the first to find out and the first to take action against the bullies. After Mahdis’ death, she learned that she had the booming voice because not only did she cry herself to sleep that night, she was screaming for her friend. She is now trying to control that voice so it will be of more use.
Goals/Motives: She has been motivated by her best friend’s death and hopes to stop all bullying in Delmor.
Vices: Hateya has only one bad habit. It is that when anyone tries to talk to her, she talks soooo quiet and fast that it all sounds like a giant mumble which is why she is called the mummmblaa.

Well, Lala, I've read over both profiles as well as the entire thread, and I've got to say that your most recent profile is much improved. I'd like to see a bit more in the bio other than the best friend thing, though. I understand how it would certainly shape Hateya's life, but I personally would like to see a bit more of the after-effects being explained... you sort of cut off at the screaming voice, yet in the profile, I can see where it is implied that Hateya has begun to work on her alias. I'd love to see a bit more filled in, then I personally will love it.

Task 1: One of my newly developed characters. She appears to talk to herself sometimes, but is usually talking to Shadow; her weapon and best friend. Task 2: The character's name is Anne Caprio. She is 14 and female. Her shadow is also 14 and constantly reminding Anne he's male. Task 3: A few years after Anne was born, she was kidnapped and tested on like a lab rat. Many foreign injections were placed into her body system which caused her manipulative and solidification powers over her shadow. Soon after, she was released back to the world she had once known as safe.
Several years later, an accident involving a kid in a school lunch room went out of hand and Anne had to move to another school. After a bad accident she caused using her powers when it happened again in her new school, her shadow took human form in front of her. However, the shadow has yet to explain how he came to be.
A month later, due to her parent's fears and demands, she found herself in Delmore with a question of if she was good or evil weighing on her mind; as well as the shadows alliance on those terms as well. Task 3.5: Anne can manipulate and solidify her shadow, in order to use it like either a sword or a whip. Her Shadow can detach himself from her at any given time and can communicate with Anne Telepathicly while their still attached. However, their weakness includes the inabilty for Anne to use her powers while the two are detached and the inability to control her powers when attached. Task 4: Anne has a problem with showing her emotions, except to Shadow. When she does talk to others, she always maintains an angry tone of voice; unless she is explaining something in deep thought. She prefers not to talk or hang around others. Shadow does alot of talking and is a bit of a womanizer and is the one person, or shadow, that Anne actually doesn't mind talking to. Task 5: In her normal clothes, Anne is just a girl with a messy black bob cut, lime green eyes, a baggy grey hoodie, and dark brown jeans that are too big for her and held up with a a piece of tied rope. Shadow, in his human appearance, has shoulder length blonde hair and piercing golden eyes. He wears a black T-shirt and smoothly-fitted khaki pants. Both Anne and Shadow wear dirty white sneakers.
In Anne's costume, she takes off her Hoodie to reveal a large black T-shirt that's been ripped to shreds, a white one underneath that torn one, and a cat mask with a little purple ribbon attached to one of the sides. A bell tied to the ribbon makes it drop lower and usually signals her arrival. Task 6: Name: Anne Caprio AKA: Shadow Bell Current Age:14 Appearance: 5'4, 115 lbs, green eyes, baggy grey sweater, dirty white sneakers, not quite Albino but getting there. Costume: Cat mask with bow and bell on the side, torn up and baggy black shirt, and a white under shirt. Primary Power: Shadow solidification and manipulation. Secondary Power(s): Attachment and detachment of shadow, causing him to take on a human appearance. Weakness: Anne has the inability to control her own power and cannot use it when her shadow is detached from her. Personality: Both Anne and Shadow are loners whom pretty much treat others with caution and avoid interaction with others when possible. Biography: A few years after Anne was born, she was kidnapped and tested on like a lab rat. Many foreign injections were placed into her body system which caused her manipulative and solidification powers over her shadow. Her shadow showed up two years after a bad accident she caused using her powers when it happened again in her other school. However, the shadow has yet to explain how he came to be. A month later, due to her parent's fears and demands, she found herself in Delmore with a question of if she was good or evil weighing on her mind. Goals/Motives: Anne wants to learn how to control her powers and Shadow wants to be detached from Anne permeanently. Vices: Anne doesn't brush her hair much and Shadow has the need to constantly remind people he is male. Other: Both Shadow and Anne love chocolate covered strawberries and will generally fight over this if given or baught for one of them.

Please do the tasks one at a time. You're skimming over them and not getting into details. Take a look at some of the other Character's posts in this thread if you need to.
You effectively have two characters: Shadow and Anne. If you want to be able to do that, you're going to have to give us a lot more detail. Like "whoah" a lot. Take advantage of this thread as a chance to build your character, not just tell us about them.

Task Three: For better or for worse, for good or for evil? Shayne's parents had globe hopped for the entirety of their marriage, never staying in a single place for more than a couple of years. During this time Jeffrey took the opportunity to study under some of the most prestigious masters of martial arts around the world. While living in Japan Shayne's mother, Alice, became pregnant.
The two decided to stay in Japan while waiting until Shayne would be old enough to join them on their travels.
During this period Jeffrey opened a dojo in order to support the couple; while Alice, temporarily, became an assistant English teacher at the local high school.
~Skip a couple years~ Alice had decided it was time to settle down in a permanent home, no more globe hopping, she claimed it was unfair to their son. Jeffrey, however, thought it unfair to take away the opportunity to see the world. Drama and a few months, no lawyers, later, Shayne was globe hopping and training daily with his parents. Albeit the training was just because it was cute to watch him attempt to perform moves while imitating others.
Shayne's mother kept in contact and stood firm in her belief that this was no way to raise their child, but also refused to file for divorce deciding that it would be an even worse way to do things.
Shayne's early childhood involved home schooling, lots of training, and few real friends due to how often he moved about. This of course didn't mean he had no friends, but how many people are 'true' friends before a certain age. Having no siblings, he was just a little spoiled, but kept everything in line so as not to be a brat.
Shayne's relationship with his parents is a little odd, Jeffrey is Shayne's father, friend, and master. Alice plays less of a role as Shayne's friend and is more a strict teacher and mother, while trying to manage not to be too strict.
Up until the age of thirteen, Shayne moved around the world without a 'permanent' home, his mother and father taking jobs according to their abilities. Jeffrey would take up a spot in an existing Dojo or begin his own, temporary one for Self Defense. Shayne...Well Shayne was pretty reclusive when it came to people his own age, seeing no point in befriending anyone outside of the other students at his father's dojo.
Due to the globe hopping, however, he became quite the linguist, sort of. He can understand most of what people say, unfortunately unless it's English or some basic, literal words, Shayne is useless in two way translation.
As a surprise for Shayne, his parents decided to finally give him a permanent home; in Minneapolis.
It was here that Shayne began to step out into the world, into Middle School and then High School. Unfortunately, it was also here that Shayne's mother passed from a car accident involving lots of rain and another driver not seeing a stop sign.
The effect rippled through the family, Jeffrey spent more time in the dojo than ever before in an attempt to keep his mind busy. Shayne reacted in a similar, yet very different way. After hearing of a hostage situation within the city, Shayne donned his father's samurai armor, took up the most plentiful metal object he could find. Spoons.
At first, being a 'superhero' was just a way to escape from the pain of his mother's death, but soon, it became part of him. Every lesson from his father and mother began to take form; help the helpless, put others before yourself, use your strengths to your advantage. Little did he know it was also, partially, planned. Sure, his father expected a more socially accepted version of crime fighting, like becoming a policeman or an armed member of the neighborhood watch.
Over the next two years the Spoon would become a semi-famous hero, at the very least he was famous in Minneapolis for his off the wall fashion sense and choice of weaponry.
During high school Shayne made one particular friend whom he would never forget; Evan Gardner. She was first the girl that Shayne formed a crush for, later they became close friends. Around Shayne's sixteenth birthday the two became a couple. So much was shared between the two, even the Spoon's identity. She was also the reason they left Minneapolis.
During what was assumed to be a run of the mill armed robbery Evan was shot and killed. Shayne snapped for a moment, nearly killing the assailant. Even after rushing her to the hospital before police had gotten onto the scene of the crime, it was too late.
Before long Shayne's dad decided it was time for one last move; Delmor.
Task Three-Point-Five: I HAVE THA POWAH!!! Shayne's 'powers' are simply honed martial arts skills through years of training. During his seventeen years of life fifteen have seen some form of martial arts training, intensifying as he got older. Shayne holds several black belts including; Isshinryu, extensive training in Krav Maga, several forms of Northern and Southern Chinese Martial arts(Shaolin), Ninjutsu, and of course his father's martial art, Supu-n Saiketsuryu.
Peak physical condition and keen hand eye coordination are key factors in what Shayne does. Using the theatrical and stealth techniques of Ninjutsu combined with the other martial arts, Shayne uses his strengths to his advantage against whomever stands in his way.
