((*lame Chad thumbs-up* Heheh... gotta love it! And holy cow it's been a busy week. ^^'))

Nagi grinned.
"Right on." he said happily. "Hado 33 is merely a more powerful version of hado 31 and covers a much wider range. The incantation is very similar as well."

Instead of searching for a rock to shoot at, Nagi decided to use a better improvised target and walked over to his field bag where he pulled out two bottles of water. Though they'd have to pick up the debris when they were finished, he liked the idea that they weren't natural items such as trees and rocks. Winding up, he gave one of the bottles a good toss with his left arm. The plastic container soared through the air, landing about sixty meters away. Nagi threw the second, which landed a few feet away from the first.

"All right," he said while rolling up his sleeves a bit. "Demonstration time."

Holding out his right arm, he kept his palm out and fingers flat- the same position he used for the previous hado. This time, however, he leaned back a bit more to suppress the kick. His eyes, settling themselves on the target, did not move or blink as he began chanting the incantation.
"Ye Lord! Mask of flesh and bone, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Truth and temperance, Upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws!"

By this time, there was a large blue flame swelled to the size of his own hand, engulfing his fingers. Nagi vision was thrown off a bit by the light, but with his target already acquired, he no longer relied on his eyes.
"Hado number thirty-three, Sokatsui!" he shouted, giving the kido a forceful send-off.

The blue flame advanced rapidly, spreading outward as it neared the target. By the time the kido hit the bottle, there was nothing left but a charred patch of earth and a single cork, which remarkably remained intact as it landed.

"Wow... I haven't let myself do that in a while." Nagi laughed while lowering his arm. He glanced at Suri over his shoulder. "I'm not the biggest fan of fire-based kido, but I have to admit this one is my favorite. Come on and try it out."

(( Sorry if I'm slow to respond / have poor responses, I'm running on an apathetic / school-busy streak right now.

Anyways, just as a question about zanpaku~to abilities, I was wondering, as Suri's past is revealed and if she ever learns bankai, would it be possible to give her an additional element that she can control, maybe only when in bankai mode? ))

:Suri walked slowly over to where Nagi stood, inwardly mourning the loss of such good water. She could remember the time when she had been alive. Clean water was so hard to find back then - it always had to be boiled to be purified. However, she did not dwell on the thought for too long. Times had changed and it was a lot easier to clean the waters for drinking. Besides, with her element, it would be near impossible to not be able to find water.

She glanced over at where the second bottle lay. From what she had observed earlier, Nagi's kidou had near blinded him, and her, even standing so far away, so she figured that she should get her bearings first. There was no point in firing off a kidou to who knows where. Spotting the bottle a hundred and eighty feet away, Suri sighed a little. Hopefully her aim would be better this time and there would not be a wide, scythe shaped scar in the Earth.

Taking a deep breath, Suri held up her hand again, palm and fingers flat out. With fierce concentration, Suri's voice slid a few notes, entering the alto range, as she said authoritatively, "Ye Lord! Mask of flesh and bone, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Truth and temperance, Upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws!"

Blue flames danced on her hands, twining with her fingers and crackling every once in a while. These streaked out from a fire ball, slightly larger than her hand, which burst vividly. Her amber irises were flecked with the blue light and danced merrily, although she could see little beyond what lay on her palm. Not allowing herself to be drawn into the joyful dance, Suri kept her concentration on the location of the bottle.

"Hado number thirty-three, Sokatsui!" Suri commanded, and the kidou burst form her palm, flowering wildly in the air. She had been prepared for the knock back this time and leaned back slightly so that the force would not throw her to the ground.

With gaining speed, the kidou careened towards the bottle, making a blinding impact. There was a path of churned up and charred earth, but it did not start until further on, closer to the bottle. Plastic pieces rocketed away from the impact, flinging wildly into the air.

"Wow, that took a lot of concentration to force it not to go off course," Suri sighed as she watched little plastic shards come sparkling back down to the ground. "A bit more than I expected actually."

Breathing a bit shallowly, Suri sat down on the ground, not tired enough to collapse, but not really energized enough to want to stand. A ghost of a smile played across her lips. "Maybe I will not try to concentrate enough to perfect a kidou the first time. One or two attempts seem to be easier on my control of reiatsu, and besides, its not all the time that I can wreak havoc with a good excuse.":

((I'm getting really slow. XD I understand what you mean. I have no problem with waiting for you since there have been multiple times when you had to wait for me. For bankai, I don't see anything wrong with her learning an extra element considering there are other members such as Daven and Feiy who know all of them. Even though your character isn't their rank yet, you're still making your way up the latter pretty quickly. I don't have a problem with your character learning bankai either. I want you to be prepared for when the next captain slot opens up. There may always be that chance you may get it. wink ))

Making sure that his tinted glasses were on this time, the flash of light didn't bother Nagi in the slightest this time around. He didn't have a problem with watering the grass as he watched her bottle shatter and spray the liquid everywhere. It was a glorious sound, the sound of something being blown to smithereens. Her movements were fluid and graceful, just like the water element she specialized in. Nagi had always respected the great power of water and ice- one he used for its healing power while the other kept him from overheating.

"You are more than welcome to do the shot again." Nagi said, understanding what she meant. He didn't sit down but instead leaned against a tree. "Now that your body is prepared for it, this kido will be much easier the second time around. You will discover that the more difficult kido you perform, all the ones below it are suddenly small eggs in comparison. You know, there's something I'd like to show you that I haven't yet shown anyone before and I think it might help you out considerably."

Pausing for a moment, he realized that what he had just said sounded a bit awkward. He hoped that she wouldn't assume some insinuation behind his talk as he continued very quickly just in case she did.
"It's a skill I like to use when performing kido." he explained. "It's a meditation technique to quickly clear your mind of any thoughts so you can perform a kido much quicker. If you wish to try it out, I won't hesitate to show you."

((Since it seems that that division technique idea passed, I'll teach it to you first. ))

(( I think the term is up the ladder XD. I wouldn't want to be making my way up the latter *cough Feiy cough* pretty quickly... >> And thank you for your vote of confidence in my RP ability ^^ I would be willing to start bankai training at any time, maybe when you are less busy? It seems like you have a lot of training, including mine, to take care of right now ^^;;

BTW, do we really need to train for this ability? From what I've grasped it seems to be a part of the squad patch that people wear. If it were taught, they would keep it even when they leave the squad, which is what we don't want to do. ))

:Suri gazed distantly across the open field. Relatively speaking, it was not such a difficult choice that Captain Nagi had presented her with. Obviously being able to cast a kidou spell quickly and efficiently was more worthwhile than moving on to the next kidou if she could not cast all the lower-level ones easily. However, things were moving apace in the Sereitei. Many challenges were being made, tourneys were being fought, and there was the pressing feeling of a growing terror that would soon come to envelope the Sereitei.

Rubbing her eyes, Suri thought about the drawbacks to both of them. If she did not learn the stronger kidou spells, she would be weaker than many Captains and Vice-Captains at present. That would be a hindrance to her in battle since she would have to step-down often. On the other hand, if she could not cast a kidou efficiently, she would be a menace to others also. There would be a chance of her misfiring and hitting an ally, or else it would take her too long to go on the offensive or defensive, causing another person to watch her back. She may have wanted to be useful, but it would be better to limit herself than to be a hindrance to others as well.

"I think it would be a stellar idea to learn that meditation technique right now," Suri nodded in agreement, pushing herself off the ground. "It seems like we are moving through this training at quite a good rate. I would not be surprised if I sleep deep tonight. For now though, I am still ready and willing to learn."

She picked up another water bottle and took a swig, preparing herself for her next lesson. It would not do to pass out during such an important part of her training - performing kidous well was a more crucial skill than being able to perform kidous at all.:
