I don't care about them changing stuff for this game. Regardless, Suikoden Tierkries is NOT Suikoden VI and therefore is a side game. In spite of the 108 stars motif being included. It's obviously not part of the main series of games, in the same way that Rhapsodia and the Suikogaidens were not, and therefore I don't think we should worry too much about them trying out new things. Better they do it in Tierkries than in Suikoden VI, in which the exclusion of Viki, Jeane and the true runes would be disappointing and frankly a profoundly stupid move.

I suppose that is true, and you have a good point. The only side game I've played so far is Suikoden Tactics, which was interesting, but not as enjoyable as the main games are.

I used to be really wary about this game, but the Japanese reception of it was pretty positive, so I'm a lot less worried now. Apparently it feels like a Suikoden game without feeling like one, or something like that. Weird, but I can put up with a parallel world, without the characters and locations I know and love, for the sake of the franchise.

I'm preparing myself to be disappointed by this game. I tried and failed to get into SIV, and it's already been compared to it. . . I might buy it, but I'll probably wait until someone else buys it for me before investing in such a deviation from what I consider to be a standard Suikoden game. The DS itself frustrates me, so it needs to be a dang enjoyable game to make up for its platform for me. ^^'

I'm going to have to disagree, and say that I did not enjoy IV, but that's ok, it works out.

We're all entitles to our own opinions. However, people who forced themselves to not enjoy the game because they simply heard it was bad, or people who even refused to play the game because of the negative reviews, are absolutely ridiculous. If you played the game all the way through, and it wasn't your cup of tea, that's fine. That's what happened to me with SV. To each his own. I just can't... condone the rampant hate of a game that doesn't really deserve it.

I did play IV all the way through and beat it with an awesome team (I worked really hard to make them awesome since I only had 3? or 4 characters to work with). Some parts were fun, others were not.
Just throwing this out there, I think it would be kinda cool if this were a dream of a character within the regular Suikoden universe, since it's an alternate and all. Or perhaps a visitation of it in later games.

I doubt that will happen, as much as I would like it to.
This is probably just a spin-off game Konami is using to decide whether or not they should continue the series, depending on the sales and reviews.

Is the Suikoden series not making a lot of money?

I don't think it was ever a huge cash cow. Sure, it had profit, but it's no Metal Gear Solid.
