"I would only expect she would choose you.... And if you don't want me around, please, just tell me. I won't interfere with your lives if you don't want me to..." He gave a weak smile and added, "But my affections towards her won't change... and know that I care more about her than anyone in this world... I care about you and Kallos too, even if you don't like me for being near your mother."
Draven suddenly smacked himself in the forehead, "Oh, the sauce! I still need her help to continue making it, I can't make it by myself, now can I?"

Kallos slipped closer to Tael as she sat near him, and looked up at her, panic visible in his eyes, and it leaked into his voice. "I dunno, but I'm just as bad for them, with the way I've behaved today, so I'd deserve the same punishment..."
Suddenly, the clearest thing in his mind was what Taelence had told Cat, and he couldn't help but whimper and blink back tears at the implications of that and what he'd just said. "Please don't tell me to get out!"
He huddled up against Tael, looking up at her with pleading eyes a moment before he buried his face into her warm, familiar fur. It was bad enough, in his mind, that he didn't get to see and spend time with his other mother and brother every day. To be told to go away, no matter how far-fetched the notion was, was unbearable to the kit, who loved both his mothers like he was sure he would never love anyone else. A couple of tears leaked out of his eyes, but he burrowed more against his mother's side, and they clung to Tael's fur.

Chryses eyed Draven for a moment.
"What matters most is Mum Tael," he paused. "If, if, she really wants you, well there'll be no problem from Kallos and I. We care about her happiness, period."
He cocked his head and considered something.
"But you know, maybe you should show her that you like her, hmm? She knows that you want to protect her, but I think that's it...."
He watched Draven worry over the sauce. He sighed and pointed to the pantry.
"Coarse brown sugar, and vanilla extract," he turned and pointed to the cabinets. "Second cabinet, left of the sink, third shelf, the big steel pan. Stove at about 3oo degrees."
He eyed the other male a 'what did I say?' look on his face.
"Mum makes it enough in front of me. After a while I learned to pay attention,"
Taelence picked up her son and cuddled him to her chest tightly. She planted kisses all over his face and smiled at him.
"Kallos, really. Are you my son?" she watched him nod. "Do I love you more than anything in the world?"
Again he nodded.
"Then I will never, ever tell you to get out. No matter what you've done," she tickled him for a moment. "I may tan your hide, but I won't ask you to leave."
She looked at him, her face set in mock seriousness.
"Are we clear, young man?"
Kallos might have irritated her sometimes, but what child didn't annoy his parents from time to time? That didn't mean that she didn't want him around. Just that he needed to learn what was appropriate and acceptable to say in certain situations. Secretly, she blamed Teles for his bluntness. Just a little.

Kallos whimpered before Tael scooped him up. Some kits might have protested the smothering kisses, but Kallos felt comforted by them. And so very, very relieved. His first nod was assured, the second, though firm, was hopeful. When she responded, he smiled slightly, rubbing at the side of his face with a paw before giggling as he was tickled.
"Yes, Momma Tael~" He yipped softly, and squiggled in her arms, getting close enough to her to nuzzle against her, taking comfort in her promise to him.
After a few more moments of bliss with his mother, Kallos looked over his shoulder with a frown, though it disappeared when he looked up at Tael.
"I guess we should go...and make your special, awesome sauce..?"

Draven sighed, but his outer appearance was brighter. "Now that's something I can't exactly ask straight up, now is it...?" He spoke softly, quickly rushing off to fetch what was needed for the sauce and setting it on the counter. "Alright, how are we doing this, chief?" He asked, his tone formal, as if he believed Chryses the king of the kitchen for the moment.

Chryses snorted for a moment. Honestly, adults. What was it that made them afraid of everything?
"It's not rocket science," he said with another snort. "All you have to say is 'I like you.' Three simple words, what's so hard about that?"
He pointed to the sliced strawberries.
"Those go into the pot with a quarter water and two cups of brown sugar. don't boil them, just let them simmer for about 3o minutes,"
Taelence snuggled Kallos tightly. She wished that they spent more time together than they did. It was hard, she knew, having two parents in two different households. She wished that there was an easier way to split her time. But life she knew life wasn't always fair.
"Yes, no telling what Chryses and Draven are up to in there," she slung him up onto her back and walked back into the kitchen.
"Well you two have been busy, haven't you?" she remarked, noticing the cut up strawberries and the fixings to make the sauce.

Draven smrked, "Have you ever said it? No, doubt it..." He answered his own question, quickly working for getting the water and strawberries ready, just as Tae entered. He looked up at her and suddenly flushed a bright crmson, turning away and pattng his cheeks to normal before turning back around, "Well, we couldn't just leave work undone, right?"

Kallos snuggled himself once more against his mother before being boosted onto her back. He smiled with a quiet, happy yip to his mother, keeping his short limbs wrapped around her so he wouldn't fall.
"Love you, Momma..." He murmured as he snuggled himself against her back, staring at Draven with a bit of a frown afterwards, though he said nothing to the older male. He clung to her a while longer until she sat upon her stool. He slid down absently and padded onto the counter, stealing a small piece of strawberry to nibble on it.
