My favorite Neil line is from the first show.
(sets the scene)
Neil cooks a massive pot of lentils for his house mates and then while lifting it off the stove he notices how hot the pot is....
"WOW! This is really hot! I should get this to the table... oh I'm not gonna make it... it's gonna..." (pot falls on floor... Neil goes to the hallway.)
"Guys... there's some dinner on the floor if you want it. I mean it's no big deal if you don't eat it, I mean it's not like you guys did anything. It's not easy to make lentils you know... I was the one who remembered to soak them over night and to change the water and boil the..... Guys!?"
From the same episode, when Rick mounts a giant cross in front of the house cause the city council condemned the building and Rick doesn't want to move out.
"Don't crucify yourself, Rick! I've tried it 100 times, it's impossible to get the last nail in."
from that moment I knew that this was going to be dry English cornball comedy with bouts of Tom and Jerry like physical comedy.
