Seth prodded his potion warily. It was more lime than forest green, but nothing close to the disaster that had befallen him earlier. He breathed a sigh of relief. Esrath hung loosely off of his shoulders, flicking his tongue. The dungeons always made him feel sleepy. "Well, that wasn't bad at all," he complimented himself. Esrath hissed and bit him. He was bored. Seth looked around at the other students' results, hoping he hadn't done too badly.

Amelia thought her eyes were deceiving her after all that reading but she had to do a double take. Almost as if he appeared out of thin air, Seth had arrived in the dungeons. But that was impossible. No one could apparate inside or out on the Hogwarts grounds unless they were a house elf. "Hey Seth" Amelia called over to the boy. "Where did you come from? Or did you learn how to apparate inside of Hogwarts?" .......

Moira began adding her moonstone slowly, careful not to cause an explosion in the dungeon. She jumped when she noticed Seth, and dumped the rest of the moonstone into the bowl. Several tense seconds passed as she waited for her cauldron to go off. Nothing. She peered slightly over the rim, and saw nothing to cause concern. I guess there was just enough left for me to get away with! Moira wiped her brow and slumped back onto the stool. That would have been quite the way to start the first day of classes. She grabbed a long handled spoon and began stirring her liquid, counter-clockwise. Now she could afford to listen in on the conversations. Where had Seth come from?

"That's me," intoned Seth with an evil voice. "Unnoticed until I'm right behind you!" He laughed and stirred his potion cautiously. "Tricky little potion, this one. How do you think you did, Amelia?" He nodded to Moira. "Don't think we've met. Pleasure to meet you. Under the circumstances, I think it's better if we don't shake hands." He held up his hands, both of which were covered in potion ingredients. Esrath shifted on his shoulders for a better look at the Gryffindor.

"Lethal man your like a snake." Amelia laughed and shivered at the same time. "I think I did alright, the hardest part had to be making sure the cauldron didn't explode. I did have Xurdion's help however so I'm almost positive I did well." Turning to Moira, Amelia face smacked herself. "I'm terribly sorry Moira, how rude of me. My name is Amelia Rochelle 7th year Ravenclaw as you can see by my robes.(OOC: Lol had to do that) and hopefully an auror in the making hence why I didn't drop this wonderful class." Hopefully Moira didn't take offense to Amelia's previous rudeness. .....

Moira shook the red-blonde curls from her eyes, and gave Seth an appraising look. "I suppose I agree. Though the pleasure's mine." She didn't have any desire to put her hands too close to a few of the ingredients to this potion. Moira was startled when Amelia turned to her, and smacked herself in the face. Then she let out a soft laugh. "Pleasure, Amelia Rochelle 7th year Ravenclaw as can be told by your robes. I'm Moira Canen 7th year Gryffindor as can be told by my mane." She shook her unruly red hair as she said it, letting it skim lightly across her shoulders, but mindful to keep stirring the potion. "And what about you..Seth is it? What house are you from?" Moira noticed the snake looking at her, and stared right back, winking.

"That's good to hear. My father's shop has been doing well. We have a good location. Mother's enjoying herself..." She trailed off as she began adding the moonstone to her potion. Half listening to the other conversations, she slowly stirred the contents of the cauldron. Morgan eyed the snake dangling from the Seth boys shoulders. It made her wonder where her own pet had gotten off too. Kit would probably show up around lunch, begging for table scraps that she would undoubtedly receive.

Seth smiled easily, saying, "I'm a Ravenclaw, sixth year. This is Esrath," he indicated the glittery-black serpent. "Esrath's from Egypt, and a much wiser being than I." He laughed, and Esrath slithered down his arm and coiled his four foot length on the desk. He hissed quietly and nosed a bottle of something. "Oh. Forgot that. Thanks, Esrath."

Judas edged into the classroom, sitting down near Moira and Morgan, pulling out his things. He glanced up at the board and quickly went to work. He began to boil the water in his cauldron. He wanted to join in Moira and Morgan's conversation, but he didn't want to be rude.

Moira smiled at the snake. "Good morning then Esrath." When she heard a stool scrape next to her, she pulled her attention to the sound.
"Judas! I didn't know we had a class together..I don't think." She grinned broadly at him. He was the only flat out friend she had in the class so far. Not to be rude, she turned back to Morgan. "I'm glad to hear it Morgan. Please, pass on a greeting from my father to yours. He rarely answers owl this time of year. He's up to his ears in brooms that need work for the new school year." Focusing back on her potion, Moira added a few drops of Essence of Euphoria, two at a time, and then checking the liquid's color, until it had reached the desired color. Actually, it was quite beautiful.

Xurdion watched the conversation unfold in front of him. "Hey, I'm Xurdion Dungeon, sixth year, Ravenclaw. Alchemist in training, but of course you probably already knew that." He said, waving his hand towards her in order to avoid needing to shake hands. He coughed and muttered something under his breath in Spanish. He took out his alchemy book again and started to flip through the pages, examing all the different things he could do as soon as they left for Hogsmeade. "I need to go clean my shop up and maybe gather some ingredients from there since it's obvious my mom's a little busy." He knew that his mom would be furious when she found out that he was taking things from the stock again and paying with their own money so that they actually have gained nothing and lost quite a bit. Now he wanted to remain unnoticed once more so that he could get lost in his thoughts.

Seth settled back to watch his potion stew, humming Loch Lomond absently as he stroked Esrath's glossy scales. He sighed deeply. Though one crisis had been averted, another was sure to arrive. He wiped his forehead and made a few notes on the potion in his angular, spiky handwriting. "What's everyone's favorite class here?" he asked, trying to break the silence that had fallen upon the students.

" Hello Xurdion. That's a rather interesting last name you have! You are well met." Moira waved back to him in greeting. She turned back to the potion, nearly completed, and contemplated Seth's question. What was her favorite class? Of course it was hard to be able to say which class would be best this year, since it was still early. She turned her face towards the boy and said thoughtfully, "Possibly this one. I'm fairly good at potions. I think Care of Magical Creatures has potential, but the past few years have been a bit short of a fiasco as far as the creatures go. What about you?" She turned the spoon once more through the liquid and reached for her sea glass bottle. As her fingers brushed it, it moved away toward the edge of the table and went crashing to the floor. Moira was almost afraid to look, but she did, peering over the side of the table. The bottle lay in several large pieces on the ground beside her stool. "Oh blast it all."

"Reparo!" Seth flicked his wand at the bottle's pieces. "Careful. I caused an explosion once by doing that." He tucked his wand back into his robes and stirred his potion some more. "Care of Magical Creatures is fun, but I'm partial to Defense Against the Dark Arts." He unconsciously emphasized 'dark' as he spoke, eyes cold and hard.

Judas listened to what everyone else was saying as he dropped a bouncer leaf into the boiling water. It turned green, as promised. He was grinding the moonstone when he heard Seth's comment. He was surprised to see Seth's eyes harden when he said the word "dark". He stirred in the moonstone slowly, listening even more closely, trying to figure out what had happened.
