Cloud had feelings for both of them. But he had feelings for Tifa long before he met Aerith. But he wasn't sure if Tifa liked him back so he focused all his attention on Aerith. When she died that hurt him so much. I'm not sure if he ever recovered fully.

But he wasn't sure if Tifa liked him back so he focused all his attention on Aerith. When she died that hurt him so much. I'm not sure if he ever recovered fully. Cloud blamed himself for Aerith's death. i think he recovered at the end of advent children when he forgave himself. anyway, he and tifa are a family now. he's with tifa, and aerith is with zack. everything works out that way.

We'll, hehehe, You guys are all funny. The hole reason they never get together is cause it just isn't meant to be, Tiffa and Cloud should be together... pfft. NO, you see, you got this all wrong cause Aeris and Cloud are true lovers and thus why Cloud cannot love another. Unless you really want to pair up Cloud and Tiffa, but its a one sided deal. Unlike with Aeris, and of course there's Zack, gah Zack just had to be there to complicate things. But love comes love goes, for Aeris to go for Cloud in the game like that then Zack and Aeris love connection wasn't all that great. Sure there good together, and they could be the best of friends. but Cloud and Aeris where meant to be and that's that (even if you dont like it and want to complain about it).

It doesnt really matter who Cloud was gonna end up with. Square Enix itself told it was up to the player's choice, he could love either Aerith or Tifa. Everything was just the player preferences.
However, of course, you get to pick sides, right?
I love Cloti why?
There was no doubt that in some scenes, Aerith and Cloud looked as maybe something could possibly blossom between them but, this was just because (and its my own opinion) Zack transfered all his dreams, hopes, and memories to him while he was still shocked for receiving such amount of mako in Crisis Core. He thought he was like Zack. Zack's feelings towards Aerith, Cloud could feel them as if they were his own. Same thing happens with Aerith, that attraction towards Cloud is because, again, Zack's essence was in Cloud.
But the relationship with Tifa is much more deep. They were childhood friends, he was in love with her as a kid, BUT im not going to touch that topic 'cause feelings can change, right? Well, i dont think happened to Cloud. AGAIN, It was as a big portion of Zack was in control of Cloud's mind so Cloud had no choice but to act accordingly, but deep inside him, the real Cloud, he still has feelings for Tifa, he still is inlove with Tifa. When at the lifestream, all his memories connected to Tifa, she was the one that brought him back to the real world. He gifted her the Fenrir ring, some say as a symbol of friendship, some say as symbol of lovers, idrc lol.
Cloud and Tifa can definitely hit it off as a couple. AND ITS NOT CAUSE AERITH IS DEAD, nah. They love eachother truly.

He blamed himself for her death because in the first CD, she made him promise he would protect her. At the end AC he finally forgives himself with the help of all his friends words and Aerith's spirit. He cherished her as a friend and as a Cetra. She was part of the team.
