JoJo blinked, but said nothing. He wanted so desperately to believe her; that she would be his friend and not suffer the same fate as so many others he had known, friend or otherwise. But he just couldn't get past the memory of searing heat and the cackling laughter of a thousand tongues of flame. Again he saw the boy, and it reminded him that fire could destroy anything, even good intentions.
"I don't plan on dying anytime soon either.......I just worry about living long after everyone else has died, everyone I know. I've had a good start to that so far."

Tolfitken remained silent, unsure of what to say to that. Her gaze wavered a little as she focused more on what was being said than what she was looking at. "Fine, if I die within the next year then you are free to give up and kill yourself or grow cold or do whatever you want, but until then, or if that doesn't happen, you have to try to have fun," she said finally, having to grin a little at her ultimatum.

JoJo's eyes went wide, then all of sudden he started laughing; not a hysterical or small one; just a genuine laugh. "I'm not going to KILL myself! The very idea....now if I had gone and gotten an infection from that stupid fence and died THAT way, that's fine, but I wouldn't do it on purpose. I don't think I'd be able to; not after my mother risked so much to bring me into this world. Besides, it may not be much of a life, but it's the only one I've got, and everyone's entitled to gripe about it once in a while."

She blinked in surprise at his laughed, then smiled wide enough to show her teeth. "Good," Tolfitken nodded, joining in on his laughter, "But you still have to have fun!" This was one of those fun times where she found herself wishing it would continue and starting to look around warily for what would end it. Letting herself laugh some more, she shoved the worry to the back of her mind, determined to begin 'gowing with the flow' and having fun no matter what life decided to throw at her. At the same time, she kept part of her mind sharp, because saying one is going to enjoy life and actually enjoying life are two different things.

JoJo narrowed his eyes and mock-growled at Tolfitken. "I do not! I'm allergic to fun! I break out in...in....pokeballs!" He reached up and smacked himself lightly on the nose. What on Earth was he doing; being so silly? True, the occasion seemed to warrant it, but he wasn't quite used to it; kind of like trying to squeeze through a hole that was a bit too small.
He let the laughter drift away, not cutting it short at least. Laughter was for happy people, like the little boy and his group. And he hadn't even known his name....
He blew a breath of air out his nose and fixed Tolfitken with his intense red eyes. "Weren't we trying to figure out a duet?"

His comment made her laugh harder, her eyes squeezing themselves shut as she gasped for air and finally slowed to an occasional giggle. She shook her head and grinned again when he mentioned the duet, "That's right! But I can't think of one off hand, is there one you would like?"

Happy to be back to somewhat seriousness, JoJo scratched his unbandaged ear idly. "Well, I know Lily's Eyes, but that one's really meant for two guys, no offense. All the other ones I can think of at the moment are from Sweeney Todd." He looked at her curiously. "Have you ever heard of that musical?"

"No," Tolfitken replied, shaking her head. She had the impression that she ought to have, or at least have seen a commercial about it, but apparently the name just reminded her somewhat of her parents' love for violence. Cocking her head to the side, she asked, "What's it about? Is it gory?" She asked the second question because of the aforementioned semblance to her parents' love of violence.

JoJo rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "Well......it's bloody. I wouldn't say gory, since there's not really any guts or anything, but there's a whole lot of blood. But it looks pretty fake, you know, like paint." He shrugged. "The music is really good though, but if you don't want to see it, that's okay; I know some people really don't like bloody stuff. That and it does't have the happiest ending. Matter of fact, it's downright sad." He chewed his bottom lip, trying to think of another duet they could do.

Tolfitken laughed almost wryly, "Masochist parents, remember? I'm perfectly fine with blood, real looking or fake." In truth it sounded somewhat interesting; most of the movies she'd seen had been the predictable big battle, good vs evil, good triumphs and the bad guys go to jail or whatever. She thought it would be nice to see something out of the ordinary for a change.

JoJo looked puzzled. "But why would a doll-" He stopped and his eyes widened. "Ohhhh.....I guess tht word doesn't mean what I think it means. Does it mean people who like blood and stuff?"
He smiled a bit. "And does this mean you might be interested after all?"

"It means people who like to harm themselves or others who like to harm themselves or others for fun..." she explained, her ears ducking behind her head again as she was once more reminded of the stitches that adorned them. She shook her head to clear it from her parents and looked up at JoJo to grin, "Yes, I think I would be interested after all."

JoJo's eyes widened. "Ohh........" He honestly didn't know what to say. The only thing that entered his mind was a tiny wisp of a thought; he wondered if he knew any pokemir who were that way.
Brightening up, he spoke a bit excitedly. "Oh it's neat. It's about this barber who.....well, if you're gonna see it, I won't give it away. Hey, why don't we both see it? Together?" He stopped and looked down hurriedly. "I mean, it doesn't have to be a date or anything; just us seeing a movie, you know......"

She shrugged at his speechlessness, trying to move past the subject quickly. "Okie," she said to his suggestion, her smile returning, "It doesn't have to be a date; we're just going to have fun and see a good movie."
(And cue the popcorn and projector reel xd )
