Quick reminder...

Don't believe anything until officially confirmed. Thank you.

"Rumours

* Recurring press and fan rumours suggest that Tennant will regenerate in this story, despite producer Julie Gardner announcing that he is to appear in all the special episodes planned for 2009.*

Ehh.. technically the only way that would be possible is for the last three specials to be ONLY flashbacks...and how much flashback does one person need. D:

Quote:
Guest star David Morrissey is often referenced as being the next actor to play the Doctor, however as of September 2008 no information has been officially released regarding the nature of the character he plays beyond the fact that, for reasons yet to be revealed, he is referred to as The Doctor.

You just watch. I'm betting, right here, right now, that that's gonna be SUCH a red herring and "the Doctor" is really just a different kinda alien who goes around helping people, and the (real) Doctor is intrigued. SRSLY.

Quote:
* The title of the story, The Next Doctor, was announced in late September 2008, and is expected to further fan the flames of speculation regarding the future of Tennant with the series.

Yeah. Just like LotTL did. (Last of the Timelords) neutral

Quote:
* The Sun[3] newspaper in the UK has reported David Morrissey will be playing The Doctor in this episode with David Tennant taking the companion role. The BBC's official Doctor Who website, has confirmed that David Morrissey is playing a character that calls himself The Doctor[4]. "

It's the SUN. It's regurgitating what it hears and adding onto it.
Sometimes, on very rare occasions, it gets the news right, though.
I swear, there must be some person that the writers/producers know, and they tell him certain things which may or may not be true, and tell him to go tell the tabloids. rofl

Has anyone considered the fact that maybe he is just playing a doctor. As in a proper doctor of madicine and prefers to be known as the
Just because an actor says something doesn't nessesarily mean it's true either. The only reason next year is going to be all specials is because DT is working on Hamlet. They're hardly going to have him regenerate at xmas if the specials are organised around his stage career now ardoctore they?

..yeah, I saw that article about an hour ago. DX

And I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not but I know tennantsbutterfly has been saying to not believe rumors for a long time now, due to the fact that a small thing gets published in a tabloid and you've got people jumping left and right and going nutters over it.

I think it'd be funny if RTD really did off Ten by dropping a radioactive piano on him. Anyway, I thought Tennant was a great Doc, so whoever takes his place will have some pretty big shoes to fill.

I'm kind of wondering if they're going to introduce a new, long-term companion prior to the regeneration, or if the new regime is going to start the show with a completely blank slate.

Anyway, I hope the Master gets to do the Doctor in. Preferably with the aforementioned radioactive piano.

I read the article a friend sent me while I was making dinner and then just sorta sat there and cried for a bit. sad
Ten's technically my first Doctor.. it's gonna be really hard for me after that last special. stressed

Honestly, I'll be sad to see DT go as the Doctor, but I was sad to see CE go, too, and I got over it.

However,

I'm angry with DT for quitting now because the whole show was put on hiatus for him to do Hamlet, and now all of a sudden, he's not going to be continuing on as the Doctor after the next year of specials? If he was going to pull this kind of a stunt, then he could have told us all before he FAKE regenerated, and he could have just let the Doctor regenerate FOR REAL, and we wouldn't have to wait a whole year for a proper season. scream

Also, I bet that whole thing with the Doctor being a companion and the other guy being the Doctor is some kind of body swap thing.

My mum woke me up this morning and told me that it was on the news. I'd heard from this thread and just wanted to sleep. I watched it anyway though. And it is being considered that that guy from Voyage of the Damned could be new new Doctor. I don't think he'll make a good Doctor but I've only seen him once so I shouldn't judge.

From Yahoo

And from the BBC's Doctor Who Website...

He was loads of fun, and I can understand his reasons for leaving before they have to take the Tardis key from him. It sounds as if he loved the role and wants to leave while it's still fun for him. Let's leave it at that.

Good luck to Tennant in all he does. Man's gonna be missed. Whoever plays the Doctor next is going to have one hell of an act to follow...

I am disappointed. But, I can understand why he wouldn't want to be cast in the role the rest of his working life. I'm just sad he didn't break Tom Baker's long standing run of seasons like DT once said he would. *sigh* Oh well.

As long as the show itself doesn't jump the shark with the next Doctor, we should be fine. Sad, but fine.

I know! I was hoping that he'd at least try and match the TB run crying

But, then again, maybe he matched it in terms of stories. Tom did 7 years of 30 minute episodes and at least 4 episodes per story. DT has done 4 years of hour-long episodes and most of them wrapped up the story in the hour. Maybe he did almost match Tom's run when you run those numbers (I'm too lazy to do that...)

But this means that at least 1 special needs to have River Song in it. I mean, think about it: she knows about regeneration and was able to reconize the Doctor while he was still 10. She had to have met him before he regenerated otherwise she shouldn't have reconized him, right?

Wah, temporal paradox think fries my brain...and the tar from the roofing job at school doesn't help...

I just read part of a transcript of the announcement Tennant made about him deciding to leave and I just want to cry. He was so good and he will be missed.
