Chapter Seven: Aftermath
After the War, the Demons retreated through the portal they had entered through. The Temple Mages of Gráswel closed the portal behind them and then closed every other portal in the Realm. On 17 Éoai, a daughter was born to Lord Celbrian and Lady Gráska of Gráswel. She was came in a time of darkness, but they knew she would guide the light back to her people, so she was named Marendil, the Morning Star.
After the Realm War, it was discovered that unions had formed between Elves and Demons. The first child of these unions was discovered in the 44th year of the fifth century (444). An Elven woman was discovered to have a child hidden in the back room of her house. The child appeared Elven, but her eyes were blood-red, her teeth formed deadly points, and horns were found hidden beneath her hair. Many other Demon-Elven children were discovered, all with different appearances. The most common were found to look completely Elven, except for strange, black designs on their bodies. These children were called 'Half-Breeds' and were shunned by society. Many were exiled to the Demon Realm and many more were executed.
The Elves of Hunra constantly searched for stronger weapons. However, their supplies and knowledge were limited. The Dwarves, living in the mountains, had trouble acquiring food and cloth. They were able to hunt in the mountains, but there was no land for growing crops and herd animals didn't live long underground. In the 52nd year of the fifth century (452), Hunra and the Dwarves formed a trade agreement. The Elves provided linen, wool, and cotton clothing as well as various food supplies to the Dwarves. In return, the Dwarves gave the Elves various ores and gem stones as well as weapons far superior to anything the Elves had ever forged.
To ensure the devastation of the Realm War would never be repeated, two new holidays were added to the Kinai calender. The first was Demlai, the day the demons were created. On this day, the Elves mourn the creation of 'evil'. The next day was Demdreg, the anniversary of the War's beginning. On this day, the Elves pray to the gods to protect them from the Demons and keep the Realms separate. These days are also spent educating the children, so they know the danger of allowing the Realms to connect.
