"Well, friends usually tend to hold other's loved ones in a high regard, but that was not my intention. Friends help each other, bail one another one when they get into tight spots. Think of the benefical strings that come with firends as well. You would have someone to talk to, someone to introduce you to others, maybe even your future mate, if you want one. Or more gamepieces, either way, you would be able to meet others."

Universe smiled. "It's not really that simple, you're right. You can't break off contact with someone so easily, you still have to talk to them every now and then. And most ponies find kindness a good quality, so you wouldn't want to insult them or be mean until you got to know them better."

"No, you can't be mean after you get to know them. But you are more free to be yourself. A friend will accept you no matter what. You don't have to worry about them bailing on you just because they see the real you. Of course, you don't hide the real you when you first meet someone new, you're just courteous of them for a while."
