Blake paused, sitting down and looking up, the fireflies floating about.
"Well that's the thing about fate...You never know where it's going to go. But everything happens for a reason, sometimes you must be thrown back to the darkness to be able to see your light," he closed his eyes and turned his head down to face straight ahead. It was a lot to think about. He had his own questions about it himself, like if you could really control it...If everyone's was connected.
"I suppose one can influence fate..." he continued, "But in turn you have to then be able to influence the fate of others. But you can't mess up," he smiled and opened his eyes, turning to look at Candi, "There's always a light beyond the darkness..."

She smiled at him, a wide grin. That was very comforting, and she gladly accepted it. She could already tell that her light was coming back to her. She felt happier, and she swished her tail happily behind her.
"You're pretty smart, Blake," she told him. "I like that way of looking at it." It was almost as if she didn't have to worry about anything anymore. If there was fate to fix things, then maybe she didn't have to work as hard.

Blake smiled. He was glad she shared his philosophies.
"I'm smart when I wanna be. Not about everything, but about stuff like that." He shugged, "Plus thinking like that keeps life sweet. If you don't stress you can see a lot more..."

She grinned, "Yeah, life is pretty sweet. It wouldn't be good to miss out on it because you were worrying about stuff." Suddenly the word sweet made her think of candy, which in turn made her hungry. Her stomach growled and she made a face, and then giggled. "Oops...guess it's breakfast time." ^^

Blake laughed. Candi's giggling was contagious.
"I guess we could both stand to eat..." He replied, knowing he was hungry as well.

Blake paused and pondered for a moment. He wasn't sure if he had a favorite food.
"Well...I like squirrel....Though birds are nice sometimes." He shrugged, "And the animals try to stay away from here...they don't like the darkness." Blake was a major carnivore. He was a hunter who always seemed to bother girls with his tastes in food. Though the only cute animal he really ate anymore was squirrels. He could never bring himself to kill any of the bright colored birds, and Thumper had made him give up rabbit.

Candi looked thoughtful for a moment, and then she shrugged, "Well, I don't know how good I am at hunting." She laughed and added, "I mostly eat fruits and stuff, but I had some meat once, it was good. Oh! But I really love fish!" ^^

"Hunting's easy as long as you can run fast," Blake assured. You had to either be quick or sneaky, and then you had to have the courage to kill what you were hunting. "And I don't have anything against fish. They just kinda smell....Like.....Like......"

"Like fish?" she said, finishing his sentence with a giggle. She thought about going hunting with him...but she had never done it before...and she wasn't sure if she could. Eating the meat wasn't a problem...but killing it might be.
"Well, you can go hunting if you want...maybe I'll go fishing." ^^

"Yeah! Like Fish!" Blake replied with a sure smile and a nod. He was smart, just not all the time and not about everything. He nodded at her next sentence.
"Sure. You wanna meet back here after we get the food? It could be like..." the first word to come to the ladies man Blake was 'date'. His gentleman section of the brain told him to pic a different word. "Like a picnic!"

Candi grinned excitedly. "A picnic! That sounds fun!" She hurried over to the pond and watched the water, waiting for a fish to appear so she could snatch it. She giggled and swished her tail in anticipation.

Blake shook his head and walked off into the forest to hunt. He'd noticed a lot of the animals tended to avoid the little grotto, so he'd always had to go elsewhere to hunt. However, there were plenty of little critters about so that made his end of the deal easy.

Candi sat quietly, gazing at the water. She was excited about having a picnic with Blake. As she sat there, thinking about what was to come, a big silver fish shimmered in the water right in front of her. She grinned, crouched down to the water, and then snatched it quickly in her teeth. It wiggled and thrashed about, and she laid in on the bank, far away enough from the water that it wouldn't jump back in, and she waited for it to stop moving.

Two small squirrels sat quietly between two trees in the woods. Blake smiled crouching down. They were perfect, plump, large, and didn't see him coming. He made a mad dash at the squirrels, catching one as the other one sped up the nearest tree. With his captive soon limp beneath his paws he looked up at the tree in thought of whether or not that squirrel was worth it.
