Okay first, I screamed throughout that entire episode. Second I prayed Zuko would be the one to walk in on Sokka's love pad and god that was too awseome for words three, This episode, even though it had major Zutara moments such as the epic hug, the ninjas, Zuko saving Katara's life. And a Zuko Katara adventure. But, it seemed to me that Zuko brought out the worst in Katara and that Aang, even though she claimed didn't understand like Zuko, was offering her good advice. Zuko understood about her mom and troubled past but I'm wonderin gif he understands her. I hope this Zutara moment was a hidden Kataang set up for tomorrow's episode.

I don't think Zuko brought out the worst in Katara. Out of all the people there, he understood her pain the most. Aang was offering good advise, that is a given, but Zuko gave her the chance to confront the man who killed her mother and get answers. Something Zuko understands.

If she had followed Aang's advise, should would have never known her mother died to protect her, never known why she had to die and it would have torn her apart. Now she knows, and while she will never forgive him like Aang said she should, she does have closure. Which is what Zuko gave her.

I know its just that part of the appeal of Zutara was that Zuko understood Katara the best. But in this episode Aang seemed to connect with her the most and she even said "Thanks for understanding Aang" It's not just about understanding people's pain its about understanding how they need to work through that. Zuko even admitted that Aang was right. Katara seemed really angry and scary and Zuko seemed scared by her and he didn't even know what to say. In a way they seem to be rubbing off on one another. He can sypmathize with her about the mom thing, they both died to protect them, but It just worries me that the creators aren't showing them connecting in anyway other than that. You can't form a relationship based on pain. This episode made me worry for Zutara and slowly making me less of one. WHICH TOTALLY SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

iawtc

if she hadn't gone on this mission, she would still be holding onto her anger and misdirecting it at others. although she cannot forgive the killer for what he has done, she did receive closure.

and the episode also taught zuko that you don't have to go as far as to kill someone for closure.

hmm, this episode makes me think that aang will not kill ozai, but will find another way. because that would stick to the lesson this episode was all about. killing him would be contradictory.

did anyone notice the slight regret zuko displayed when he thought azula wasn't going to make it?

oh i agree with you too! but i see it as both zuko and aang understanding katara, but in different ways. and yes, a relationship should not be based off pain. but hopefully now that she forgave zuko, they can mature to a different kind of relationship.

what inspires a bit more hope for me is the fact that my fiance (a kataanger), after watching the scene where katara and aang argue about her leaving, and zuko sticking up for her, said zutara now has a chance. and he now has respect for katara. so although it may leave zutarians with a weird feeling, maybe it was meant to help swing opinions on opposing ships? an introduction if you will to zutara, so its not so out of the blue for them?

I don't think he really brought out the worst in her. I think he understood that, in order for her to have the forgiveness that Aang insisted on, she needed release of all her pent up anger, which would require a confrontation. Unlike Aang and Sokka he knew she wouldn't go so far as to actually kill the man. I think he was just playing along with her revenge scheme because he knew she wouldn't let him come with her if he sided with Aang and Sokka.

... Did that make any sense? I don't think I explained that very well. xP

I'm just gonna post my reaction from LJ here. Prepare for spazzing and ridiculously long post..

Okay, first thing I see is the gaang sleeping. When it showed Teo, I was like "Wait what? o.o He.. kinda looks like unscarred!Zuko." No, seriously. It was wierd.

I was wondering when they would get attacked by the Fire Nation. It seemed odd that no one thought to search for the Avatar at an Air Temple. Also, holy advanced security system batman. o.o

fdgfds ZUKO TACKLES HER! I LITERALLY DREAMT OF THIS! =o In similar context, too, except they were in a cave while Azula blasted lightning at them. But, you know, same idea.

"I'm about to celebrate being an only child!" *attacks*
She just gets sweeter every episode, doesn't she? xD

Zuko is epic ninja when he's avoiding Azula's attacks/attacking the airship. Seriously, that was awesome.

And now the trailer makes sense! 8D He doesn't die!

T.T I feel so bad for Katara and Sokka. Always being torn away from their family.
"Umm, there's an awful lot of fire in that general direction."
xD I love Suki.

Seeing Zuko fight Azula like that was so epic and amazing and fantastic. Seriously, I love seeing how much stronger he's gotten - he can actually hold his ground now!

And seeing Katara save Zuko was awesome, even if I knew it was coming. TWO SAVES IN ON EPISODE WHAT?! 8D

"She's... not gonna make it."
*JetPack!Azula* Lol, fooled you.

xD I actually laughed out loud at that. Also, I think I prefer Azula when she wears her hair down - she looks twice as pretty and twice as evil.

Joking Zuko is nice to see, even if Katara doesn't appreciate it. :3 I like seeing him slowly fit into the group more and more.

OUR FANFICS ARE COMING TO LIFE RIGHT BEFORE OUR EYES!! *spazzes* I'm so freaking overjoyed. 8D

Katara demands Zuko do impossible things to get her trust back, and like a true love-sick fool Zuko of course does so. xD

OMG, Suki and Sokka are totally sneaking off to get together, just like we imagined. And, holy crap, Zuko's face when he sees Sokka. xD I can see an bunch of icons being made out of that.

"Your sister. She hates me, and I don't know why! But I do care what she thinks of me."
*squees*

South Pole flashback - thank you, Bryke~! I've been dying to see this since, like, ever. Even though, you know, it's sad and tragic and all that. D: I just wanted some questions answered.

I think I had a cuteness overload from little Sokka and Katara. >w<

Lol @ Zuko waiting outside Katara's tent. xD And then randomly announcing that he knows who killed her mother. Yeaaah, real smooth.

For some reason I really liked when Katara was all 'Of course you don't understand, Aang!'. It reminded me of the Maiko confrontation when Mai admitted she didn't know Zuko, except, you know, reversed.

Revenge!Katara keeps reminding me of Sasuke. Dx Please don't run away and join a creepy snake-guy who only wants you for your body. Seriously, that'd be way uncool.

I don't like how harsh Katara's being (Look what what she said to Sokka!), but I can understand that she's not exactly rational thanks to all her anger and hatred surfacing so suddenly.

Aang = Zutarian with his 'embrace forgiveness!' vibes. =D

Sokka is hilarious as usual in this ep. That's a trait I never, ever want him to lose. <3

And, as expected, stealthy Zuko and Katara was all kinds of awesome. And just their general interaction so far - being a team even though they don't get along, Zuko worrying about her not sleeping, etc. It's so great to see.

WE FINALLY SEE THE FACE OF kATARA'S MOM! AND SHE HAS kATARA'S PILOT NAME! 8D Yay for more answers!!

Bloodbending Katara was pretty sweet, in a terrifyingly ruthless kinda way. I loved how Zuko was so intent that they guy remember and be regretful of what he did.

Whoa. Murderer of Katara's mom ( I don't know how to spell his name) has a very mean mother. D:

The move Katara does right when she says she's the last waterbender was crazy awesome. Even Zuko was amazed, and he hadn't been fazed by anything (well, except the bloodbending). And I'm very happy that she didn't kill him - I was hoping for Zuko jumping in and being all like "No! You'll regret it forever!", but I think it's a better portrayal of her character that she didn't do it because of her own will.

YAY HUG! I was hoping for a little kiss when she pulled away and smiled at him, but alas. Aw well, a hug's better than nothing. :3

Preview~! 8D I was really wondering what they'd do for the CoD scene, and it's looking to be pretty neat. Also, is it just me, or does Katara... reject Aang? *happy dance*

So, over all, the episode was pretty awesome. Though, I kinda feel like some of the parts were a little, I dunno, rushed? Maybe it's just me.

I probably blew everything out of proportion, but I think we Zutarians have the right after how deprived we've been. xD

Hahaha, I love your reactions!!!

I LOL'd at the jetpack!Azula comment~ And I agree, Azula with her hair down looks much prettier.... and so much more scarier... *shudders*

Kyaaa, I love that quote! Zuzu cares what Katara thinks of him!!! whee

Little Sokka was sooooo cute!!!! X3

Oooh, and interesting confrontation connection.... =O *nod nod*

And Katara's mom is very pretty! Lol, and I can't believe that she has Katara's Pilot name!! I was like "No WAI!!" Lol. It was that, or they couldn't think of a name for her mom... xd

Mhmm, Zuko was like O.o when he saw Katara bloodbending. He was so determined to help her find the killer.... That shows how much he wants her to forgive him!

Mhmm, I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw Yon Rah's (I think that's how you spell it) mom. I was like "Woooow, she's bitchy... sweatdrop And old..." Lol, she must be like ninety or something.... And still look that good... oO;;

I think Zuzu has a little crush on Katara after this (though, being the dork he is, he won't actually realize it). Well, maybe it;s just the hopeful fangirl in me, but he worried about her thoughts about him adn her personal well being, he was determined to get her to fogive him and to get her the closure she needed, he freaking tackle-glomped her (xD) and stayed on top of her, he waited for her all night, and just... everything! But, yeah, I'm probably over-exaggerating everything. >.>

I liked Zuko's reaction to her bloodbending. He looked really surprised at first - not quite frightened, just surprised by her power - and then he just sort of.. accepted it. If it was Aang or Sokka with her, they would've have been freaking out and scolding her for using an 'evil technique'.

Also, there are so many awesome posts here =D My favourite is probably this one. So perfectly said. <3

My list of things are
-I agrre with you about the rushed thing. It was so fast. One moment they're peaceful then a fire nation invasion then an intense battle then Zutara confrontation, then a major mission with flash backs and then Zutara forgivness. The animation at the beginning seemed a little askew at the beginning too and Azula sounded crazier than ever
-I had wanted it to be Zuko who walked in on Sokka's awkward moment. I absolutley love any exchange betwwn them. They make the funniest pair I've evere seen
-Zuko becoming hero of the day, too awseome
-You knew the gaang had to be seperated from the rest of the group. It's like the western air temple how the duke, Haru, and taio were never around. They're not main characters and having them around makes the story to confusing and cluttered. Not to mention that a story of a group of kids on an adventure with parental shaperons doesn't sound like the avatar we all know and love
-Loved Zuko's reaction to Katara's blood-bending. He was like, What the hell.
-I also wanted Zuko to be the one to stop Katara from killing "whiney hiney", which I think his bitchy mother called him and actuaaly did think he was the one who stopped the ice shards for a second. That worries me that he didn't cut in
-Loved that both Zuko's and Katara's mom's sacrificd themselves for the lives of their children
-Little katara and Sokka where to adorable for words especially when sokka had boomerang in hand smile
-And the hug made me die but I was, sorry to admit, a little dissapointed. I thought the hug would have a big build up where it was just the two of them alone and then afterwards they would do something zutaray like a kiss on the cheek or walk back to camp hand in hand. NOt a two second exchange with aang watching and being completley fine with it
-LLast thing, loved aang's comment about the Zuko field trip. All I could say is I would love to go on one of those. And his reaction to her yes was cool too. I'm not sure if he was suprised they were working together now or if he didn't like the idea of the two of them going off together alone

Veysa: I like that the Gaang is separated now, too (though, it would've been cool to see Hakoda act as a father to Zuko. Or talk to him about his relationship with Katara. xD).

Well, I think he didn't cut in when she attacked because he trusts her - he's seen her at her angriest and her worst and knows she's not the type to kill, same as he knew she wouldn't be able to let go of her grudge against Kya's murderer without confronting him.

I actually like that they hugged in front of Aang, though you're right about the build up thing. Still, it was a sweet moment. And we got Zuko tackling Katara and waiting for her all night and stuff, so I think makes up for the lack of a kiss. =D
