"You were right," she chuckled, rising and slowly walking towards the opening of the den. The water was still in the air, humidity surrounded her and threatened to poof up her fur. "Well. That was exciting," she giggled, turning back to look at him.
It had been, after all, even if it had been scary as well.
She hesitated, but smiled warmly at Sharifu. "Thank for you staying, and understanding." It truly meant a lot to her.

Sharifu puffed up importantly, grinning, when she said he was right about the storm. He got up hesitantly, following her out of the den- immediately knowing that the humidity put their fur in danger of becoming very.. interesting looking. Being the furrier of the two, he was in more danger. At least he didn't have a full mane yet or it would have potential to be ridiculous- and that was certainly not something he would want.
He smiled more genuinely when she said it was exciting, and then smiled at and thanked him.
"No problem," he said brightly, "Everyone's afraid of something, and usually I find if you don't love thunder you hate it."

"Thanks," she repeated anyway. After the rains, the sky had cleared, but it showed a horizon that looked suspiciously dark. She could have sworn it had been earlier in the day, but the sun's position said the opposite; it was getting rather late in the day. She glanced up once more to make sure, and then looked back at him.
"It's getting pretty late," she began hesitantly. As much fun as the day had been--meeting Sharifu, talking with him, and using him as a shield for the thunder--she knew that her family was probably getting worried about her. She had left pretty early in the morning to go exploring, and wondered what everyone else was up to.

When Auri looked up to the sky, he followed her lead and looked back down as soon as he realized how late it was. And when she commented, he took the hint. It was pretty late and they'd spent quite a bit of time together already, and besides they both had somewhere to be for the night, really.
"It is," he agreed, "I guess we better get home. I'll see you again." Sharifu smiled and took a couple steps away from the den and the rocks, turning and smiling at Auri.

He made that sound like a promise, she fleetingly thought. That "I'll see you again," comment he made before moving away. She only smiled and nodded, trotting off slowly--only glancing behind her once, which she was proud of herself for--and made her way back home.
The one time she did glance back he was standing there, smiling at her, and she couldn't help the grin that spread across her face, nor the slight quickening of her step at the sight as she walked away, tail flicking idly.
