Asalind comes from the name Asa, which dates back to the Old Testament and means 'physician.' The name ending, -lind, comes from the feminine 'linda', meaning 'serpent' (Old Germanic) and refers to its great wisdom. His features are based off your typical rattlesnake, like a diamondback.

Most of his true self is kept well-hidden from others, simply for the fact that he is a naga. He cannot help that most people instinctively recoil from a snake, but goes out of his way to move slowly, keep his hands and rattle in sight, and to hide his fangs. As a result he is very restrained and constrained; nobody really knows who he is, or what he likes, if they even care to find out.

Nightshade was named after the 'deadly nightshade' plant, as, in the hippy era, many children were named after plants. Since he was a full-blooded demon, naturally his parents would choose a less-pleasant flower to name their son after.

The name Keelin is Celtic, meaning "fair and slender," and can be applied to either gender.

-[ Abilities ]-
Great with kids. Seeing the best in people (even when it is buried so deeply that they are unlikely to ever let it manifest).

-[ Attitude ]-
Keelin is naturally a generous, nurturing individual, which is part of what makes him such a great parent figure. It certainly helps that he actually enjoys them. Another inclination of his is to be trusting of others, and as a general rule does not distrust unless given a reason to. In the past this has been a source of calamity for him, as his naivety lead him to trust the wrong people. Protection by his housemates, some several harsh lessons, and the maturity of age and experience have curbed this inclination drastically. Fortunately, his naturally upbeat manner and optimism have kept him from becoming as jaded as some of his peers. He has also maintained some of his kittenish playfulness and tendencies to display "wild hairs."

-[ Likes ]-
Kids. He adores them. And the surprisingly broad spectrum of the color pink. He loves to go shopping, preferably with a friend, though he has done less of that more recently beyond trips to the grocery store. He also loves social gatherings of all sorts, from a family-attended meal, to clubs and parties.

-[ Dislikes ]-
Pain, usually. People who seek to intimidate or bully himself, or his kids.

-[ Hidden Self ]-
Though he has endeavored to move on from past troubles, there is one thing that he finds most distressing. He always assumed that he would one day find someone to share his life with and to raise his own children. While he does have his adopted boys, he has none of his own. And though he is surrounded by those he considers his friends and family, deep down he feels a gnawing loneliness. He never mentions it because frankly, he believes that it is a selfish and ungrateful way to feel.

-[ History ]-
Keelin has earned the distinction of helping to raise every anthro that grew up under the Nullspace roof. As a result, a whole generation of anthros now call him Mom, even though he has no blood-related children of his own. On the other hand, he views them all as his sons, and does not pass a judging eye (save the critical guiding eye of a parent) over any of them, for whatever reason or indiscretion. His adopted son Kallisto is privileged to have been his first (and only) son in the legal sense. As such, Keelin expects more from him than anyone else. For the rest, Keelin is a guide and teacher, but for Kallisto he is genuinely his father.

Recently, Kallisto has busied himself, when not with his new restaurant, with "finding Keelin a man." Long has the wolf-bear heard the hints that once Keelin did have a mate, but it is unlikely that anyone beyond Keelin and Camui know what really happened to dissolve their relationship.

While Kallisto's is an amusing and touching gesture, Keelin frankly is not holding his breath in the matter. In the eternity it took him to get over the loss of his mate, he finally found the love for his boys. Time passed and before he knew it, and by the time he realized his loneliness had never completely gone away, he had become an "old maid" of sorts. While he is by no means old, who really would be interested in a guy with grown kids? It is for this reason that he finds it unlikely that he would ever again openly pursue a romantic relationship.

why would the CEO of such a powerful corporation want to do that?

-[ Basis ]-
According to Mel, Sian's spelling is Welsh, part of a group of names including Sean/Shawn, and Shane (male), Shona, Sheena, and Sinead (female), which are descended from the name John. That of course dates back to biblical times and is Hebrew in origin. However, it is also a mispronunciation of Xi'an, a city that among other things is the Chinese equivalent to the Valley of the Kings. It was here that the amulet binding him to this plane was discovered.

-[ Abilities ]-
Sian's prowess in battle (with weapons or hand-to-hand, also tactics and the workings of certain machinery) is unmatched. His love of alcohol (and ability to hold his liquor) is almost unmatched.

-[ Attitude ]-
Sian is used to controlling people. That is to say, when he wants something, he uses wiles, his judge of character, and a careful surveillance of an individual to get what he wants out of them. He is quiet in general, like the sleeping volcano humans must watch carefully, never sure when it will erupt. It is not surprising therefore, that one might find him smirking faintly out of the corner of their eye, or when he thinks no one is watching. He rarely adds his opinion to a conversation, nor picks a fight; the results may be disastrous. A quick glance at his nicked armor and battle scars may allude to that, or simply create the illusion that he is merely the 'quiet, obtuse warrior' type.

Reading poetry (tips his proverbial hat to Li Bai and Du Fu) and writing (really bad, he admits) poetry. War and everything that goes with it. The elements of war in a non-combative context. Yes, he's a sadist.

Sian's history is quite frankly, rather hazy.

What can be discerned is that once, a millennium or three ago, a demon was conjured by a very powerful sorcerer in China. The demon's job was to lead an army to victory, a feat he is well-suited to. For many years this was a fruitful venture, however, one's general only do so much and a governments failing is not always the army's fault. Enemies within the court are always plentiful.

Needless to say, this demon's glorious life above eventually came to an end. But instead of going back to the hells from whence he came, he was sealed within the amulet that held him on this plane.

Advance time a millennia or two. Archaeologists unearth and rich collectors obtain certain beautiful, ancient, artifacts. The demon's amulet was one of these, having been buried with his master in the ancient crypts of modern-day Xi'an.

Enter Amrit, a snake of great physical and magical prowess whose greatest desire was to attain immortality. He thought that perhaps this demon could help, somehow. He gave the demon a name (for apparently he either had no name, or simply would not tell). The master of the household, like any white-bread American, mispronounced the place-name of Xi'an. Thus was Sian reborn and thus began the experimentation with spells, potions, dissection, and other barbaric exercises in obtaining the truth. If he had but asked, Sian could give Amrit the answer: "Bitches."

Wait.

After all that time left to contemplate the meanings of the universe, that was his answer?

One night, Sian found himself on the receiving end of a most irresistible force. The amulet shattered in Amrit's hand and the demon disappeared, only to reappear within the barrier set up by a young sorcerer by the name of Beau duMont. The hybrid had a most delicious proposition that would lead to Sian's own brand of immortality and freedom.

Whoever said the bad guy never wins?

The wolf creature G'mork from The Never Ending Story sent to assassinate Atreyu. The name "Kerumogu" came about by making "Gmork" into Japanese sounding words: ge mo ru ku, and switching them around backwards: ku ru mo ge. Then I tweaked it around a bit, since it is not an exact "science," and because Kerumogu sounds better...

Keru's wings are not quite large enough for all out flight, but they do give him the ability to jump insanely high and/or far, and to hover in place, both of which come in handy when in trouble or in a fight.

-[ Attitude ]-
Very much the hunter, and while quiet most of the time, if drawn into a conversation he rarely passes up the opportunity to share his bleak outlook on the world.

Anything to do with Yureta?s torment and he has no idea why, though he is also charged with the young Coon?s training. WTF? Yeah, not exactly the same as his namesake?
