"Aigu..." Seung sighed, her wings drooping. That would have made this game that much easier. She huffed, set her shoulders and made sure she was holding the toy gun right again. Then she noticed half the red team was already gone. "We gotta go!" she urged her team, "Or they be ready before us!" With that she grabbed her skirts and set off for the blue base in a shuffling run, catching up to Mik on the way there.

The toddler frowned deeply as her teammates shot into the arena. Without her. The dark, foggy arena... Chewing on her lip nervously, she stepped inside. Seeing in the dark was not a problem for her, though she did not realize that her ability to do so was a gift from her father; the fog, however, was a problem. And they were gone so fast. Anxiety quickly set in. Under normal circumstances, she would have simply followed as closely to the right as possible to reach the base; but she was stressed, and people were screaming to her, at her - why was it so loud? - and Rat was growling at her chest, and everyone was - too close, and thinking too much -
"LEEEEEFE!" She howled. "LEEEEEEEEEFE!" In these conditions, echolocation would be her best bet. That, or Lethe would come and fetch her. She was fine with either.

Bhel presumably absorbed the rules as the man rattled them off, but was much more interested in actually getting to the shooting part. His hooves sounded none-too-quietly on the ground as he followed Seung into the arena.
... Which was like a maze on the inside. Peering around curiously, he followed Seung to the base, then peered around the bulkhead to survey the other walls in his field of vision, low and tall. A hidden path. The bull Fa'e found the design of it fascinating, in spite of the low light and heavy fog; the obstructions only made the mystery of the remainder of the floor plan seem more attractive. The other team would be on the other side, so he would have to navigate before he could start shooting.
"Oh, I'm going to stand out a little, aren't I," Lucretia commented sheepishly as she followed her brother to base. The arena promptly brightened to her well-adjusted eyes - she did better in the dark, in general - but the glowing of the blacklight on her skin made a distracting glow around her in the fog. At least the black sheet and black vest helped the glowing a little.
"Just find me when the game is over, I guess," she told Bhel as she drifted past him. The Ice Rose Raevan had not been specifically instructed to follow Bhel's every move, and figured that as long as she came running if he called for her and did not leave without him, then that was supervision enough. This was a kids' place, and enough of the other players looked around his age. Lucretia figured Bhel should be able to handle himself.
Bhel's tail lashed a little as he thought he heard his sister's voice somewhere. Were they supposed to wait for someone to say "go" like in a race game? Or could he start looking for people in red vests now? Like Mitsu?

Struggling into the harness as he listened, Shai tried his best to gather the important concepts. It boiled down, as best he understood, to 'be polite.' The young Fa'e nodded, and snapped the last buckle in place.
He had only a moment to figure out the gun, everyone else was already speed walking for the entrance. Holding it as Dusty had, Shai also pulled the trigger repeatedly, still clueless as to the nature of the game. He followed the others in blue, and made his way silently into the darkened base.
Silently, but not stealthily. The shards back lit his silhouette, driving the dimness a few feet back.

Thanks in large part to his unfair lead, Dusty made it to the base just a few steps ahead of his beribboned friend. It was likely that, had the pair set off at the same time and position, Lethe probably would have won- though that was mostly due to Dusty's hoof catching on the ground and nearly tripping him up, so he'd likely argue the case.
As was, though, Dusty had indeed beat the rest to red base- and, having done so, found the need to gloat.
"HA! Beat'ya!" He chortled loudly, his voice carrying easily through the open air of the arena. Slightly winded by the dash, the deerkitten bared his teeth in a happy smile and clasped one fist in front of him in victory. "That means I'm the commander!" Oh, how well Lethe knew him.

There was a rather loud wail, which immediately caught Sei's attention, and he found himself navigating through the fog back to the entrance, and that was where he saw Mitsu. Oh, hey... she was on their team.
"Hey... It's this way. Okay ?" He extended his hand for her to take.

Seung made it to the blue base, out of breath from running and trying not to trip over herself. Maybe it was a good thing running was forbidden, she'd never have a chance trying to run in a long skirt. "Where is everyone?" She wasn't exactly the fastest, surely someone had to have beaten her here.

Sparks had been not so excellently making his way to the Arcade-- his darling car had a hiccup about a mile away from the Emporium. Had the blond been on time by his standards, he'd have only just made by the skin of his teeth anyway. Dashing in, he skidded into the Preparation room, tail whipping around him as he snatched a vest and tugged it on, the number eight emblazoned on it in dim red.
"Bollocks," he cursed, and his British accent came out a bit strong for his liking, and was in the process of getting tangled with the thing as he dashed iinto the laser tag arena. He didn't ever remember how he got the flier for the place, it had involved several rounds of circulation via people he knew ish but who the hell would turn down a game of laser tag with a bunch of fellow freaks? C'mon. He was dumb, not stupid.
He ran into the arena, crouched close to the floor, making a steady not-quite-beeline towards the red base. It was game time.

Luckily Lethe was facing a wall when she rolled her eyes at her new 'commander's victory crow; unluckily enough, she did it so hard her head began to hurt. Honestly, this wasn't such a bad turn: Dusty knew the ways of war well enough, and Lethe could always subtly hint certain strategies if necessary -- if not to Dusty, than to the people she knew would listen to her. Like--
"Where are Sei and Mitsu?" The former had just been ahead of her, though in all likeliness she had probably passed him during her (clearly rigged) race with Dusty. The latter -- well. She heard her calls well enough. But far be it for anyone to think that the Lethe came when she was told, much less by something so little. Honestly... How did Mitsu end up being the one with two wings, the things she could do without moving, and her own Creature, when she wasn't willing to use any of them to her advantage? She had to learn somehow. Maybe solitude would give her a little creativity.
"More importantly," she decided, dismissing her previous question, "How are we going to approach this?"

"Umm.." At Seung's question, Mik scratched his head. "More importantly, who is everyone? I don't think I know anyone else on our team." Awkward! Well, you had to meet people somehow...still, lasertag wasn't really his idea of a good way to do that.

Darsais would have liked to be leader - she was good at organizing, good at games, and easily the oldest person in the group, but she could settle for this. The loud boy seemed acceptable, and she'd gotten caught up in her harness, beginning to prove her incompetence, but felt like she was now acclimated with the equipment.
Hearing Lethe's question, Darsais looked over at the pale girl who was absolutely glowing under the black lights. In this situation, her hair would make sense - her head almost disappeared. "Well, we obviously shoot them," she muttered. "The vests have lights on the targets."
She looked over at their leader, whose name she hadn't quite caught and who was barely more than a shadow given the lighting conditions, and waited for instructions. He should have a plan, right?

Mitsu looked up at Sei with confusion written on her face. He, clearly, was not Lethe - but she was not in a position to be picky - not now, not here. Rat peered suspiciously over the hem of her dress as she hastily scrabbled at his fingers, grasping the tips of them with more force than was probably necessary, and allowed herself to be led to the base, where she slinked as close to the wall as possible and tried not to look at anyone. What was this feeling? - Betrayal? Lethe was just standing there - hadn't she heard her call for her? To be rescued by someone else... her face burned. Suddenly she realized just how selfishly she had acted. Feeling more upset - her previous grievance with Dusty, compounded with Lethe's actions and her own frustrations at herself - she turned to face the wall and placed her forehead to it. It was carpeted, and not cool as she had hoped.
"Don't wanna play," she mumbled into it, trying to keep the telltale waver out of her voice. She wasn't a crybaby! Her head hurt with things she hardly understood, things she didn't want to understand, wasn't ready to... "... wanna go home..."

Okay, go or not, Bhel felt that he could not wait to find his sister. He put a hand on Seung's shoulder momentarily so he could get past her - though neither of them really took up that much space in the passageway - and set about finding his way through the maze.
It was an interesting puzzle, getting from one side to the other when he could barely see five feet in front of him between the dark and the fog. But so far, at least, he had not seen any lights of the enemy team. He would shoot at anything red and blinking, Bhel decided, even if it was his sister, but then he could always let her shoot him back when he got closer. He just wanted to see what she wanted.
As he walked, the bull Fa'e tried firing an experimental shot into the air, just to be sure the snazzy gun worked. Sure enough, a red beam flashed briefly through the fog; Bhel grinned, satisfied, and continued making his way towards his sister.
"Mitsu!" he called out, his voice towards the deeper end of the toddler range.

"Ya gotta fight smart too, y'know," Dusty admonished Darsais quickly, flicking an ear anxiously. The game would start pretty quickly here, he didn't have time to go over tactics--
"Okay, best thing is to pair up and watch each other's back. Don't go too far from the base, make sure first priority is to fend off the other team, second is to get to their base!" He rapidly shot off. "Everybody knows how to play and stuff, right?"
"THREE. TWO. ONE!"
"START!"
Everybody had better, because there was no more time to explanations. A loud, bassy beat began pumping through the air, powerful enough that Dusty could feel it right in his chest. Commander and chief tactician he might be, the thrill and adrenaline by the signaled start was too much for him to resist- his display flashed to life with full lives and ammunition, and the deerkitten was off, headed straight down the middle for the inner tunnel loop, without care of consequence for who might or might not be ready to begin the battle.

Sparks had been running quite nicely towards red base when something, small and relatively squishy got in his way the moment he managed to set foot in it. Sent flying over what he would realise momentarily was a small child, Sparks landed on his knees a few feet away from her. Looking back on his carnage, he winced because ...Jesus.
He just bloody steamrolled a child, goddamnit.
"Jesus!" He hissed, crawling back over to the girl, and eyed her wings, luckily not broken or anything terrible, and bit his lip, worrying one of the piercings there. "Y'okay there, luv?" He doesn't want to get too close to her because if she starts crying or, or something-- bollocks. "Chroist, din't see ya there, m'sorry 'bout that." His voice was a low murmur, but his crash would draw attention to them well enough.
The blond wanted to say 'we better move' but that was his competitive streak coming out, and it took him a bit of lip chewing to come to the conclusion that the statement was too callous for a pint sized little girl that did not look very happy to begin with. At least they were at base, yeah? He could work as a defender or something maybe, that might work-- but er. First. Pintsize's safety.
