Albireo blinked as the icebeam started to travel towards his face.
"ALBIREO!"
Oh no. Oh NO. He KNEW what was going to happen. He was going to get hit in the face and Luna would burst into a giggle fit and he wouldn't be able to breath for a whole minute! It was horrible! With quick reflexes that had developed over his battling experience, Albireo managed to slightly duck so that the icebeam only hit his neck, creating a collar of ice around him that slowly crept down his body.
But the ice melted as quickly as it spread from the desert heat. Luna knew that Albireo couldn't be held down too long. As soon as they were free, they would continue their attack.

So it wouldn't last long, but long enough to do some real damage. Piney smirked a bit as she called out "Rock slide!"
Twilight blink as Albireo tried to dodge the ice beam and did so... partially. He was still unable to move that much, making him a sitting duck for her next attack. She flung more rocks high into the air, wondering if the arena would ever run out of them.

Albireo decided that ice was only comfortable when it was in liquid form or not connected to his body. He tried to roll over to avoid the onslaught of rocks, but failed and got hit in the face. The dewgong wailed, it HURT.
"Deeeeeeeeeeew!"
Now his teeth were hurting! How was he suppose to eat his victory snack if his teeth were hurting?
"Aww, Albireo, pull it together! Safeguard!
Albireo let out a small whimper, smashing the rest of the ice away be jerking his tail into movement. The dewgong's tear-filled eyes glowed as a small transparent veil appeared over the seel pokemon.

((FFN, you know that rock is good against ice types like Dewgong? XD))
Ooh. More shinies. Twilight wasn't exactly pleased that she made him cry, but she did hurt her with that other shiny attack! And that wasn't very nice either!
That safeguard went out of the window didn't it? Piney sighed as the only thing she could do now was a full offensive.
"Rock slide again!"
Twilight dashed over to another pile rocks, that was made from the previous attack, and hurled them at Albireo again. She was getting tired but it would be all over soon, whether she won or lost.

((Whoops xD
I had this crazy thought in my head that since Albireo is part water, rock type attacks would be neutral to him xD *FAIL*))
Three hits. She had to land three hits and the battle would be theirs. But it would be hard considering how badly the end of her other battle with Piney, Daybreak, and ChuChu went. The officer usually put up a fierce fight at the end.
And this was proving true as Twilight shot another head-on rockslide attack at Albireo, causing the dewgong to fall over again. But the dewgong had been through so many fights that even a critical hit wouldn't keep him down easily.
"Let's keep going 'Bireo, signal beam!"
Glowing balls of light quickly circkled Albireo's horn once again, growing in brightness as they shot off in a beam towards the absol again.

Twilight wasn't distracted by how purdy the lights were this time. Letting out an energetic bark, she bounced away to the side, the Signal beam missing completely.
Now they were on equal ground. Sorta. Piney's Absol could only take two more hits (or one critical hit) and Albireo could stand up to four hits. (Or two criticals). She was doing a fantastic job in making up the beginning, though Daybreak fought just as hard as she did.
"You know what to do! Another Rock Slide!"
She was getting bored of throwing rocks. But they were almost at the end anyway. The Absol ran over to the rocks that were flung from the previous time and threw them again at her opponent.

Luna winced as Albireo failed to completely dodge a rockslide attack and got a fin crushed. That definately had to hurt. But Albireo was fully attentive now that his whole body burned with pain. He was in battle mode and as serious as he would ever get about anything other than food.
They could still salvage this.
"Keep on going! Signal beam!"
"Deeew!"
Lights formed around Albireo's half-shatterned horn faster than ever, interlacing in a delicate braid-pattern as they were shot off again towards the absol.

Twilight flicked her ear-blades, noticing that they weren't a beam this time but a really tangled web. She stared at it for a moment, mesmerised by the flashiness, before leaping out of the way. Those thing might have still hurt!
Piney knew what she was up too. That Signal beam was meant to confuse than hurt. She could prevent it with a Safeguard like Albireo's, but they were so close to finishing the battle anyway.
"Rock slide!" Only a couple more hits and they would win!
The absol was panting a bit, still paining from the damage she recieved earlier, but she could sense the enthusiasm in the officer's voice. They were almost done! Sprinting over to some rocks, she threw them again at the Dewgong.

"Come on Albireo! Try it one more time!"
Albireo did a barrel roll in the sand to avoid getting more of his body smushed by the falling rocks and managed to escape with just a few scratches. As soon as he had the opportunity, he tilted his horn at Twilight, took aim, and fired another beam of light.

Twilight had no clue as to why the Signal beams were coming out weird-shaped instead of normally. She was able to look away this time, and leaped behind another rock, where it fizzed into nothing.
"Alright!" Piney thought that the Absol would be, well, more tempted by shinies, seeing as she was younger and had less training. But she was doing better than she expected, especially since things were coming down to the wire.
"Use a Rock Slide!"
She noticed that the Dewgong was looking weaker than her now. She was a bit upset, seeing as he was doing well at the beginning, and he looked like a nice Pokemon too. But she still hurled more large boulders at him, determined to finish it once and for all.

Albireo gave a disgruntled look at the boulders that were coming towards him again. He really didn't like boulders anymore - he never liked them much initially anyways. The dewgong managed to force his body to roll away from the brunt of the damage again, maintaining small scratches that still sapped away his energy.
In desperation, Albireo shot another ray - this time one made of ice - at Twilight focusing most of his strength into it hoping to freeze the absol so that the pokemon would stop throwing painful boulders at him!

The Absol was a bit surprised that he was launching ice at her, not that glowing stuff. She pondered about just letting it hit her, seeing as she was hot from the desert 'sun' and the toll from battle. But nah. It looked like it would hurt along with cooling her off. She jumped to the side again, but slipped and landed with her face in the sand. It didn't hurt her, but it was embarassing.
She could tell that Twilight was getting tired. That stumble was only one sign. Luckily, they only needed one more hit to end this.
"Finish it off with Thunder!"
Something different? She guessed that her officer was tired off all the rock flinging as well. Getting up and shaking the sand grains off of her, Twilight turned to her opponent and howled. As she howled, a big streak of lightning appeared out of no where, aimed right at him.

Albireo was too tired to roll away from the last thunder attack and succumbed to the bliss of unconsciousness. Soon afterward he was struck by a red ray of light and recalled into his pokeball.
"Ahhh~Well, it was a nice try 'Bireo" Luna said to the pokeball, clipping it back onto her belt with the others. Then, looking across the field to Piney, Luna smiled and waved, shouting a "That was a really nice battle!" before fleeing to the pokemon center to make sure there wouldn't be any permanent injuries to her pokemon. THey had fought a good fight, there was just some unexpected turbulence at the end.

"It was fun for me too!" Piney called out, returning the tired Twilight to her Pokeball. Both of them fought well, and they deserved a rest.
Honestly, she wasn't expecting the bout of luck at the end, but she welcomed it. It was like how Daybreak fought Chuchu. She couldn't hope for it to happen though. Waving good-bye to Luna, she turned to leave the stadium.
