Rey screamed as the vines coiled around her body. The barbs cut into her skin, as if warning her not to move. Sharp leaves tore pieces of her dress. She struggled to get free, but could not escape. Her body went limp. Just as it seemed that all hope was lost, her mind went blank. The young girl's usually-bright eyes darkened, and, again, her hands were surrounded by a warm golden light.
The new, powerful Rey effortlessly forced the forest's vines to shrink back into the bush. A strange fern grew when she flicked her wrist, which she squeezed the juice from, and used it to heal her wounds. Suddenly, Rey collapsed again, and woke up minutes later to find that she could not remember what had happened at all.

Piopi was watching this curiously and got severely annoyed. This new development didn't help Rey progress at all! She didn't learn anything, she just forgot it, in some kinda alter-ego mode.
"Damn." She swore and watched on, glad Rey didn't know where she was, or remember about the pipe.

The trees had shifted so much that the path was no longer visible around Rey, and although no vines were apparent, the rustle of the trees leaves showed they were still out there. The trees themselves seemed to have ringed her in, and their bark excreted a light green sap of which its properties were unknown.

Rey took a step back from the trees. "Uh oh..." she looked for a way out. "I guess I'm stuck here..." she scratched her head. "Hmm.. Im starved... " she racked her brain for a plant she knew how to grow. "Ah, I can grow some corn! I know corn! Now, if I could just find that flute and -" her eyes widened. "I could have sworn it was in my pocket! How will I liveeee?!" Rey fell to her knees, starting to cry. She pressed her hands to the floor again and again, but to no avail. The magic that she had used before was inside her still, but the poor girl had no clue how to use it, or even that it existed.

Piopi touched the pipe, shaking her head. It was sad, once put under strain this girl seemed to have forgotten everything in their lessons.

The trees roots began to shove up out of the ground, making the soil move. One broke the surface right near Reys foot and wrapped around it tightly, tugging slihgtly at it. Others began to break the surface too. Maybe if she was only in a medium amount of danger she would save herself and remember it afterwards.

Rey exhaled sharply, sounding more annoyed than distraught this time. She squinted, trying to gather as much strength as she had left in her body, and used it to force the vines off her legs. Strangely enough, she didn't have to change into "alter ego rey" this time, and only found herself wondering what came over her which allowed her to use the advanced technique which she had never learned.

Piopi grinned to herself. Thats the way to go Rey! She thought, and nudged the rest of the trees back away from the tired girl from her hiding place.

The trees let go and moved away as an influence of both the girls powers, and the vines seemed to stop slithering for a while. The forest was completely silent, and the orange sun seemed to move closer to the horizon. Hopefully Rey would make it to the village to help before dark, because in the night was the time the plants rested and all the dark and evil animals which had learnt to survive the plants rampages came out and had their way.

Rey smiled. "That was surprisingly easy." She said to herself as she jogged on toward the village, wondering what the people there needed from her, and whether or not she could provide it. Just as the sun started to dip behind the trees, Rey saw a small group of houses, and the start of a road. A relieved sigh escaped her lips. "So.. I'm here... what now?"

A few people ran out to greet Rey, one wearing faces of worry, one of anger, one of happiness. It was a whole bunch of mixed messages. There was a young boy, an even younger girl and a teenage boy. They all looked like siblings, having the same sandy blonde hair and green/grey eyes.

"Hey! Are you the girl who the forest master sent?" Demanded the middle boy, hands on hips. "You better be, the people dont like visitors if they don't help out in some way." He stated.

The little girl just stood there behind the older boy, looking like she would rather be back at home instead of so close to the woods near dark. It was a scary place and she tugged at her brothers pants to go back already.

The oldest boy rolled his eyes at his two siblings and gave Rey a charming smile, holding out his hand for a handshake.
"Hi, I'm Rory, don't mind Lissa or Alex, they just want to get away from this forest. We have been sitting here a long time waiting for you, you see. I take it you are a forest manipulator?" He inquired, his greeny eyes sparkling at her.

Rey smiled, blushing, and reached out to shake his hand. "Yes, I am.." she hoped that she would be able to help the townspeople with whatever they needed, but was starting to doubt herself. "My name is Reyna - you may call me Rey. What exactly was it that you needed from me?" Her blue eyes shifted from face to face to face, confused.

The little girl tugged harder at the teenage boys shirt.
"C'moooon! Its too dark! I dunt lyk it!" Lissa whined, and the Rory began to get pulled by her so he gave Reyna a half grin.
"Sorry Rey, but we really have to get moving.. Mum can explain it all later." he held onto her hand at the end of the shake and tugged her along away from the woods as well, they began trotting down toward the town.

Alex ran ahead of them, through the open paddock and down into one of the cute little cottages emitting smoke.
"maaaaamaa! She's here!" He called, and a slightly worried face peeped out the window. She was a skinny lady, her blonde hair streaked with grey, and she hugged Alex before watching the others get to the doorstep and ushering them inside.

She locked the door.
"Mum, this is Rey, shes a forest manipulator. Rey, this is me mum. Jus' call her mum- everyone does."
Rory let go of Rey's hand, blushing slightly and givng an embarassed laugh, then lifted Lissa up onto his hip and took her off to bed.

Mum sighed, gave Rey a tired smile and then put the kettle on.
"Here, sit down, it must've been a long journey. I better get to explainin myself." She said, sitting down at an old wooden table.

Rey smiled back at him and lifted her hand, still warm, to her chest. Her cheeks were still blushing, and looked even more red against her pale, delicate skin. "Nice to meet you, Mum. Could I help you all with something? I wasn't told why I was sent here." Her voice was modest, even a little worried. The weather was harsh, so she moved away from the door and wrapped her brown cloak tighter around her small frame.

Mum smiled and kicked out a chair.
"Yeah, our village is in need of a lot of help. First off, we've got crop problems." She sighed and put her head in her hands as the kettle heated up.
"I mean, everybody always does, but its getting really bad, and I mean, its harvesting season soon, and we can barely expect anything..if you could help out with that.." She stood up and took the kettle off as it whistled, pouring the hot liquid into the cups.
"Tea?" She asked, pouring one out for Rory as well and pushing Alex towards his bedroom. "Bed now. I've got guests over. Behave." She told him, and he scowled but scuttled off.
"So of course there's the crops. And then theres the weeds..." She took a sip of her drink and sat down again.
Rory sat down too, grinning at Rey and gulping his drink. "Yeah, I'll take you to see it tomorrow. Its terrible. We used to have this beautiful coastline road, all good plants on the sides, not those evil ones from the forest, but now its all- " He meshed his hands together and twisted them to show how tangled it was. "-spiky and impassible. We're pretty much cut off from the north."
They both sighed simultaneously and drank again.
Mum looked up again.
"And theres this other thing. It'll need more explaining, but do you think you could help out with those for now?" She asked sincerely and Rory nodded, green eyes boring into Rey yet again.

OOC: Looks like it! You're typing up a storm. Its hard to keep up sweatdrop

Rey nodded, relieved. Those problems seemed simple enough. And with her strange new source of power on her side, anything could be accomplished! If only it could be harnessed. She looked at Mum with a smile. "I'll do my best to help you. I think I will be able to pull it off. Please dont worry." She turned to Rory. His green eyes seemed so intense, she had to look away to keep from becoming totally engrossed. Pulling her hair back, she shivered.

Mum nodded at Rey, gave her a half smile of gratitude and then took the empty cups away. Rory frowned slightly.
"You alright?" He waited for an answer, then his face lit up in understanding.
"Oh! Heh sorry I forgot, you've traveled heaps far haven't you? And it isn't very easy traveling either. You must be tired. You can stay in my room for the night." He offered, and got up, showing her the way to his room.
"Its in here." He pushed open the door and stepped away.
"Thanks again. We really needed this." His eyes held hers for a second then he gave her a smile and walked back to the kitchen.

Rey opened her mouth in protest, but before she could say anything, Rory was gone. She had never met such hospitable people, and it felt wrong to use his room... where would he sleep? Nevermind, she had to get her rest anyway. The tired forest apprentice blinked once, twice, and fell asleep.
