The Raven Goddess's Appearance
The Raven Goddess's Appearance
It was the morning after a very fun night. Arashi stretched, taking in a huge breath, and letting it out slowly. Mameha tended to throw really large get-togethers every once in a while...and those get-togethers normally resulted in a new, large, beautifully-winged fox arriving. Last night was different. Nothing auspicious had happened, which Arashi chalked up to the past two occurrences being coincidental incidents. And sure, she didn't have to be here, this morning, cleaning the shop...but really, she had nothing to do. Her foxes were back at her house, sleeping the night's fun off. So she swept the broom across the floor, dancing to Aerosmith's Walk This Way and humming along.
The shop was quiet thus far, but Arashi figured it might have been due to the fact that there had been a party last night. It didn't bother her; in fact, she found it quite relaxing to have the shop to herself.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
The Goddess peered into the shop, a smile alighting her face as she saw but one person there. She floated over to the koi pond at the back of the shop, and lightly set down two iridescent beads, which knocked together and created a very soft, clear, chiming sound.
The mysterious female flew upwards, hovering far above in the air, to watch and see which crystal bead the girl would take, ready to send down another one of her blessed celestial kits.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
She was finished the floor when a soft chiming sound caught her attention. She dutifully searched the floor, checking to see if anything dropped from a counter or something, before shrugging. Deciding suddenly that she was tired of being inside, she stepped out into the back hard portion of the Noodle Shop, still humming the song that had been on earlier, as it was now stuck in her head.
Something glistened in the sun, catching her eye. Thoroughly curious, Arashi meandered over to the koi pond and crouched down at the ledge. Two perfect beads sat on the flat stone there. One blue swirls, the other pink swirls. Both looked absolutely amazing. Sparkly objects didn't normally attract her, but this was different. She'd seen what had happened before, but that wasn't the whole lure of the beads before her. They were utterly gorgeous.
Scooping both up, Arashi straightened, and gazed at both beads, marvelling at them as they sparkled in the warm sunlight. After several minutes of internal debate, Arashi bent down and set the blue crystal upon the rock where she found it, feeling that she should not be greedy and keep both. She twitched and bent over the pond as a soft plop signaled the bead had fallen in, but when she looked into teh clear waster, there was no bead in sight. Frowning softly, she turned her eyes upon the bead in her palm, watching and smiling at the play of colours in the sun.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
The Goddess smiled and whistled lowly. The summoned Goddess strode forwards, only to be stopped as a dark Goddess moved into her path. Turning gentle, curious eyes onto the Goddess, the fox spoke softly.
"May I venture down below..? I have family there, and Adelis and Selene are worried about their kits~"
Graciously, the Goddess nodded and stepped aside, allowing the dark fox to descend onto the earth.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
Ravens flew in all directions, exploding from the ground, just outside of the fence. Arashi started, and looked up to the sky, seeing the sleek birds flying. Taking a breath to calm her fluttering heart, she told herself to relax. When she brought her gaze down, she looked at a pair of peculiar, periwinkle eyes. Startled, her hand flew up over her heart.
"Oh my~!"
The Goddess, dark and regal, stepped forwards through the gate. Around her delicate paws flowed mist the same colour as her eyes. Those eyes crinkled with amusement, and a fair amount of wisdom. Awestruck, Arashi reached out and then stopped herself before bowing to the fox, if the graceful creature could still be called a fox. There were many words that could be used to describe the creature before her...but oddly enough, none seemed to fit perfectly.
Carefully, cautious that for some reason or another, she might frighten it - frighten it, how absurd - Arashi stepped slowly closer. She held her hand out, sheepish but with respect in her eyes. When Amethyst met Azure, time stopped for a moment. Those eyes were knowing, keenly intelligent.
"Am I to assume...that this wondrous bead is yours..?" She spoke, her voice barely above a whisper. "You can have it back, if you want. Will you be staying? I have a Goddess kit in the house, I'm sure she'd be happy to have one of her own kind, if you are."
So many questions, she was that nervous.
The Goddess laughed softly, the sound amazingly similar to what might be bells ringing. "I shall tell you in a little while, I think~ But what is your name?"
"My name...?" The Goddess wanted her name? "My name is Arashi. May I know your name as well..?"
Those soft eyes sparkled with mirth at this human's courteous behaviour. "My name is Melanthra, Arashi. And yes, I do believe I'll be staying with you for quite a while~"
And so, Arashi, with her eyes wide, accepted the Raven Goddess into her home, her life, and her heart. She was completely awestruck at the female Goddess, and spent the entire day learning about her, and introducing her to the houseful of foxes she currently had. To her surprise, she found out Melanthra was actually Shei'dalin's aunt. It seemed the day was getting better and better.
