It took everything she had not to snap at him that she shouldn't have had to warn him, if he wasn't so predjudice, but she caught herself in time remembering this may be the same open and trusting colt she once knew but he definatly wasn't the same person anymore.
She took a deep breath, which she let out in a slow even sigh as she regained control of her temper. " Adour is my daughter, Caelin. I was not aware that what her heritage is should make any difference." She knew Adour was a haughty little brat, but the filly did have a good heart like her father, she just had a young girl's huge ego.
The filly in question was peering curiously at the strange stallion a frown on her little face. How dare he hate her!! Momma said that everyone would love her if she was sweet to them which meant that everyone had to love her cause she was always sweet. When he snapped at her mother she made a rather pathetic growling sound, her tail lashing.
" Don't you be mean to my momma mister!!"
Mapiya's look softened as she gently nudged Adour " Hush now love. Cae won't hurt me, will you Cae?" She turned her golden eyes back to him.

As the part-kalona tried to be fierce Caelin found that she was having the opposite effect on him. The meaner she tried to look the more ridiculous she did. White and gold were strange colors for a kalona and she lacked their bulk and fangs. Unbidden, a small chuckle rose from his lips. On second thought, she didn't look much like a kalona at all.
It was his first smile of their encounter but he stifled it quickly back into a mask of seriousness when Mapiya asked her question. "Of course I won't. I wouldn't be here if it was my intention to hurt anyone."

Mapiya's smile was soft and tender as she dipped her head to nuzzle the fierce little one. "See there pet? Caelin is a good friend of momma's who she hasn't seen in a long time. Now why don't you go chase rabbits with Liberty and Nene?" When Adour looked stubborn, Mapiya chuckled whispering loudly in her ear " you just need to go show Liberty you are faster than him."
Adour's eyes lit up as she charged off, her little wings flapping, her tail lashing as she charged towards the she-wolf and the young pink usdia stallion.
" Uncle Pinky you can't keep up with me!!"
Mapiya's smile was soft and tender as the young stallion looked at them and winked before teasing the little filly about being a slow poke. She turned her head back towards Caelin with a soft smile, " I am sorry I didn't think to warn you but when I look at her I do not see the kalona, I see a little one whose basket I have guarded. I see a brave little child who still hides under my belly at thunderstorms, a little girl who likes to play. I do not know who she will grow into, but I know love and compassion now will carry onto the mare she will someday become."
