I am more pissed off about them basically calling the Zutarian's morons than I am about the actual shipping (although Maiko is settling very badly in my stomach right now).
If they're trying to alienate their fandom by insulting their intelligence, and by making the book itself extra lame because they couldn't come up with a good enough ending to the series, I think they have succeeded.

omg that too...i just read it over again it's like...they basically called us the little kids for supporting Zutara...i wonder...i know that sometimes directors change minds towards the end...i wonder if they will...like so that the episode has a different ending?...i'm just hoping for anything right now...or atleast some answers because there are so many that aren't answered.

I'm calling them pussies if they're going to call us children. They copped out on the ending by going for the cliche.
I'd wet my pants if they pulled an Shyamalan-esqe twist at the end by having the book and the show have different endings just to appease both main ships.
That would STILL be messed up, because then the Kataangers wouldn't have their TV!CANON Kataang.

I could see Zuko and Katara being dark and intriguing in the beginning of the series but not anymore. Both Zuko and Katara have grown a lot, in fact, I loathed the idea of Zuko/Katara together in the beginning of the series. But the end of the second season showed that they aren't dark. As the series goes on and the two get to know each other more, it moves far beyond being dark.

yah...or like that would say that they had a change in mind and say like the comic wasn't real...unless they want to believe it....canon katang?...what are you a katanger?lol
i just wish sometimes that we would all like have a private interview session with mike and bryan to ask them why...or how...oh that's another thing...i know it would be good to have an interview after a comic is released but like one before the date it's issued and also before it's even air on tv...it's already bad that it was released before the episodes but like...then have an interview...that's just sad.

As the series goes on and the two get to know each other more, it moves far beyond being dark. I was actually a Kataanger in the beginning because Zuko came off as a 2 dimensional emo kid bad guy. And you're right, THAT'S when it would have been dark and intriguing.
But then he started changing, and we learned more about him, and it made more sense for him and Katara to be together instead of the cutesy "twu wuv" Aang and Katara.
Mizu-no-Hime:
Bryke NEED to do some damage control on this. It was such a stupid idea to release this book 2 months before the finale aired. Now, unless things are different in the book and the 4 part ending, they need to do something.
I don't know about them changing their minds this late in the game though. But it's pretty obvious these guys liked the power to mess with their fans.

i feel bad for those zutarians who are trying to keep themselves from being spoiled. they are in for one hellava shock.

Cause you know the second they mention that they're Zutarian, some jerk Kataanger is going to gloat at them, so they aren't going to stay un-spoiled for long.
I'm so peeved about all this. I can't believe they put this book out.

The creators have always seemed to be very good at being very aware of their fanbase. We can't really blame them for the release date as I'm sure it was Nick being in control of the release date.
But damage control may be in order since it really isn't a good idea to alienate and upset a huge section of your fanbase before the series is even over. Especially after the NYCC trailer. It is like it is good enough to make the trailer but all the fans that support it must be crazy for supporting it.
No offense to the creators but I'm not a kid, I'm well into my 20s and I recognize a slap in the face when it hits me.

It seems like a very bad move on their part to show something like the NYCC trailer that looked so awesome, only to have the book come out and everything being disappointing.
I think, in the end, they wanted to cater to the fankids, and not the fanadults. It's a shame that most of the fanadults happen to be Zutarian's, and they pretty much called us stupid and laughed at us.
Long and short of all my bitching in this thread: I'M INSULTED.

I know what you all mean. Being near 25 I know I'm way outside of their target age group, but as an older watch I feel that I see deeper meanings that may be lost on younger audiences.
I think in the end that they want to cater to what is easy. Zuko/Mai and Aang/Katara is easy, you don't have to wrap your brain around it to hard. Zuko/Katara isn't easy, but it has the real potential to be something amazing and truly healing to a world that was seriously screwed over.

I think I'm just going to sit and sulk like I'm 14 instead of 24 about this.
In the end, though, I'm most pissed off about the book being released. Such douchebagery of Nick and Bryke, and all for money.
