I love the beatles heart not all of it mind you, but the fair sized chunk of their music that was a result of depression and drugs in their club years. the poppier stuff is meh. a good example is happiness is a warm gun. great (fantstic!) song in the beginning, but the last few stanzas are a bit annoying and doowhopy

MegaTherion777 Snoop and Dre, Run DMC, Etc. KRS-ONE, Notorious BIG, Ice T, etc. i listened to a bit of blues (mostly BB King at that time, though now i have an extensive blues collection) a bit of classic rock (bob dylan, pink floyd, bruce springsteen, ac/dc, jimi hendrix, lynyrd skynyrd, led zeppelin, steppenwolf, the who, the stones, the beatles, cream, CCR, BOC, etc etc etc) and some oldies (buddy holly, fats domino, chubby checker, bo diddley, chuck berry, etc). still listen to all this stuff (and much much more, now) but metal's my fave... actually it's tied with blues. metal and blues are my faves I've been meaning to look into Blues for a while now.

I grew up listening to oldies stations. Then, when I got to my mid teens, blues started popping up because my dad got into it. Late teens I discovered modern rock via "Blow Me Away" by Breaking Benjamin, which was on the Halo 2 soundtrack a friend bought me. From modern rock I gradually shifted toward metal by way of Mushroomhead, then Shadows Fall, and then In Flames. After I heard the mighty Swedes, it was all over.

lotusvoid Don't be testy about it, I have no interest in vaunting my self image to people I never even see face to face. My family all listen to classic rock, and my dad used to play metallica ect when I was a baby. I even had friggin metallica and kiss baby clothes *shudders* My dad is one of the silly kiss army. God I hate that band. the other stuff I could not stand growing up was motorhead (dad) grateful dead (grandmother) and some of the new age stuff my mother listens to (she's neopagan of some denomination or other, southern druidism when I was a babe, but shes fickle). I do like some things she listened to like fleetwood mac, enya, sarah brightman, and Loreena Mckennitt . they all played white zombie and some of the newer rock like godsmack and such, but I was always picky. I think loreena mkennitt lead to more of the same and then nightwish, leaves eyes, therion, burzum, after forever and unto ashes and moonspell Old man's child lead to me hearing of agathodaimon sometime in high (in middle I was listening to mostly nightwish, pink floyd, this mortal coil, and the smiths as well as alot of the other stuff I grew up with. (Dont think that one will be familiar to any of you) I have always place alot of value to lyrical content as well as composition, hence the smiths. are any of you familiar with the non metal music I listed? it would be neat if anyone else listened/listens to any of it. I highligeted the ones I used to listen to. F.y.i. I wasn't being testy, it was a joke.
