((Hm, good question. xd I'm so used to using Priest....
Got it! Priest Charles! xd ))

Melody continued to listen to the conversation in interest, which she could hear despite the sound of the cars and busy-ness all around her. She had to sort of agree with Sarah about the song being odd for this holiday, but then again, this WAS a demon they were unknowingly talking about here. Of course he'd not like the idea of angel worship. Again, this demon was making her nervous, for he was in the same car as her charge. She inched closer to the open sunroof, so she could dive in if she had to. Well, she could go through the van's metal, but that'd be hard to explain to the boy.....

As long as the songs played weren't TOO kiss-upish then Melody would enjoy hte concert. Hey, she'd probably enjoy the music anyways; it's been a long time since she's been to a concert that had more than just her charge in it. She liked most kinds of music, and would sometimes wander the tops of buildings during various holidays and festivals such as this to listen to them. She lived up to her name in that way, too.

She could sense that Zack was sot of.......zoning out, but mainly out of confusion. Poor guy; Melody was still a bit nervous about meeting him for the first time in years. After all, he probably thought them both crazy once she showed up again. But she knew he could sense her; he kept looking about earlier as if sensing her presense.

Only time will tell how it works out for sure. For now, she enjoyed sitting on top of the van, in the nice warm sun and a rest for her wings.

"The rest of the song has to do with him befriending an angel, and that even though they're opposite, they can get along." Strake looking at Sarah's refelection in the mirror.

"That could never happen, demon's are far too evil, and angels are too good." Josh said in dissaproval.

"What if a demon was exiled to live among humans, and met an angel through a human? Don't you think the demon would adapt to our ways?" Katie said, knowing nothing about Strake's situation.

"I don't think that demon's could ever blend in with humans." Josh argued.

"I agree with Katie, human's, angels, and demon's all should be able to adapt, considering that demons and angels are very much like humans." Strake agreed with Katie. "So how much longer till we get there?" Strake asked.

Amadeus nodded thoughtfully. What the old man said made sense. How could you tell if it was light out if you never had darkness to contrast it with? As much as Amadeus hated to admit it, evil was necessary for people to have a perception of "good". The old man was also right about how various interpretations of holy scriptures led to disagreement and, quite often, violence. It was saddening to see the Word of God twisted and used as justification for selfish acts... which is why it gladdened Amadeus to see truly pure individuals such as the one he was now conversing with. True, the man did make jokes now and then that were mildly insulting, but they were in good taste, and he was sure that God wouldn't mind. Surely the old man had been this way for most of his life, and he still retained the Gifts bestowed upon him by God.

"I... see your point. Particularly about choosing good instead of being forced into it. If the latter was true, could it really be considered "good", or just what's expected, nay, demanded?" They continued walking. Amadeus was quite enjoying this rather enlightening experience. He should have made more visits down to the earthly plane in the past. However, his quiet, moody personality led him to make descents only when asked by God to Protect someone.

Like now. A spark of curiosity lit up in Amadeus, as he wondered who his charge would be after he finished overseeing the general procession of the festival. Hopefully it wasn't someone disgustingly arrogant, boring, or rude. Of course, God, wouldn't be cruel enough to charge him with such a protectee. Then again, he might in an effort to teach Amadeus patience. But he already had plenty of practice with that. Another test or training course wouldn't be necessay. It would be a waste.

"Are we almost at our destination, friend?" He asked, ready to get his duties underway and commence Watching the populace for any... incidents that might be avoided.

((Yay! I love that name..Charles xD. So, no more awkwardness of not knowing the name of the guy I'm talking about. ))

"We're there," Sarah replied. "Good timing." She smiled at Strake from the mirror, and continued to watch where it was she was going. It was only a matter of minutes until she would be able to park, however.

While they were waiting, Zack went over the conversation in his head. To be honest, he disagreed with Katie and Strake. Of all the books and stories he's ever heard about demons, he's never heard of one mingling with humans...well, not one who ends up befriending them only to not pull a terrible prank on them later.

Of course, then, this got Zack to thinking about whether Jay was in the right about suggesting Evil Angel. Jay felt very adamant about it, and really wanted that song to be sung. Jay was probably the only one who believes Zack about the time when he was supposedly saved by a guardian angel, even when he didn't believe it himself.

"Okay, everyone out!" Sarah announced. "We're here!" She managed to find a parking spot a few yards away from the actual performing area, away from all the crowds.

"Ahh, so we're here. It looks pretty nice, it kind of reminds me of a high school...I forgot, are we playing at the high school? Not like I've ever been too one, I'm not really that sure what they looked like." Strake was very confused and going blind. Once he exited the car he fell down on the ground, then stood up dizzily.

"Are you hurt? Is there anything I could do to help?" Asked Katie somewhat frantically. She was scared that Strake was in pain.

"Dude, are you all right? Please tell me you're all right, we need you." Josh said, worried about the band.

"I'm just a tid bit dizzy, It was more of a flash then anything." Strake said. Did I-I just have a look into the future? No I didn't see pictures...maybe god found me...no I'd be dead...Maybe this place is giving off a pulsation, something must be happening later...

As soon as the car stopped in a special band members only parking lot (for there was a nice sign in bold red letters that stated: "Band members and personal only; others WILL BE TOWED), Melody immediately hid underneath the car in a flash; anywhere else would've attracted attention from them and thus she'd be in deep trouble. It was stuffy under the car as she heard excited voices talk about, the bottom of the car moving about as the people shifted positions and moved about; this might not be a good idea if the driver decides to try parking again; even if they couldn't see her, she still somewhat existed, and she didn't know if she could get hit by a car or not. Wait, she had, for she saved Zack from one before......

But the opportunity came when the demon boy started talking strangely, perhaps having some sort of unexpected power. He couldn't remember where they were playing, and he fellout of the car as he tried to get out.

Using this distraction, the angel flew to the underneath of three cars away, before getting out from under it (still in disguise), walked carefully, and then was peeking behind a car next to the group's van. Yes, something was affecting the demon, but what? Would it hurt this group of theirs and give Zack's a better chance, or was it merely a phase? She watched in interest, keeping in hearing range of them all.

Jay laughed at Katie and Josh's frantic, worried reactions. He hopped out of the van and patted Strake on the back. "Just got up a little too fast," he said. He turned around and grabbed Sarah's guitar case, so Zack was able to get out. "And, to answer your question before blacking out, the high school is across the street. See that great big building? It looks like a jail house, and most of the population will tell you: it's a house of torture."

Sarah got out of the van, locking her door. "It's not a house of torture, Jay." She grabbed her guitar case and walked over to where Kevin and Tristan were standing, a few feet away. "Just because you're scared of it, doesn't mean that you have to give it a bad reputation."

Zack laughed at Jay. Jay had dropped out of school, saying it wasn't something he'd see himself doing in the future. He'd rather work with his dad on cars, hoping that the band will give him the big break they were all hoping for. If not, Jay kind of screwed himself.

Zack and Jay waved at the other three, wished them luck, and headed on over to where their other bandmates were waiting.

Priest Charles continued the route, mentally noting that the boy's imagination and thoughts in general were finally turning frantically and in excitement. Good, good. So his personality was still deep within him, and had not been lost just yet. He spoke in speech again as the boy asked a question that was more pretaining to the situation at hand.

"Hmmmmm. Yes yes, we're very close at this point; however, watch out for crowds, they can get real nasty!" the priest chuckled as they continued their slow journey through the busiest part of town. "This is gonna take awhile......oh well, it's nice out today anyways!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Melody watched the conversation from behind the same car that was next to their van. She knew that over the course of watching Zack that Jay was no fan of school, especially high school. It was a shame that he decided to drop out, but hopefully if the band won the contest (or at least did well enough for huge fan base), then he as well as the others would get that big break that they need.
As the three from before left, Melody began to follow Zack and the other two, using the people walking by as cover as she kept her eyes on Zack's group, and Zack too, of course
Run While You Can
PostPosted: Sun May 25, 2008 9:31 pm
((Hello everyone! Bear with me for a little while...))
The morning had dissolved into the afternoon and Lily just couldn't stop sighing.
Restlessly, she twisted her head to the left and studied her digital clock.
1:37. I should probably get going.
However hard she tried, Lily just couldn't gather the energy to heave herself from her bed. Her eyes fell across her untidy room.
What a mess.
The beige carpet could barely be seen underneath a sea of papers, photos, cds, books, cushions and the occasional abandoned plate or two. The doors of an old oak wardrobe were outstrectched, and its contents strewn in a messy trail across the floor. Old, faded teddies with missing eyes and tattered limbs were slowly swallowing the remaining room on the tiny bed which Lily didn't occupy. Papering the walls were an endless gallery of magazine articles and pictures Lily had collected over the years. In short, the room looked more like the inside of a skip.
When Dad sees this, he is going to go mental.
With a hopeless sigh, Lily forced herself to sit up. Leaning half-heartedly against the wall, she pushed open a tiny gap in the drawn curtains blocking out any signs of life beyond the window. One beady little eye observed the street outside.
Chris'll probably be waiting for me...
The baking sun was streaming harshly upon the cars outside. Today was a day that Lily should have been enjoying, but somehow she no longer wanted to be a part of it.
I wonder how long he'll wait until he comes to get me...
***
Meanwhile, Chris was pacing angrily back and forth. His bandmembers were late to the soundcheck, and as the rage began to rise though him his thoughts soon turned to his little sister.
Where the HELL is Lily?
Today was a day that Chris would have normally avoided, but the chance to thrust his band into the limelight was too good to resist. He strode heavily through the backstage doors and out onto the grass in front of the main stage. His dark eyes swept the park, searching for the familar flash of red hair. It didn't appear.
I swear to God, that girl is really starting to piss me off...
The sudden roar of an engine ripped through the air. Chris jogged curiously to the parking lot. A group of people, laughing and joking, began to pile out of the car. Chris scowled.
Oh, great. That's all I need - more competition.
One of the figures suddenly dropped to the ground. Eager to avoid any contact with the group, Chris slipped backstage. As he reached the stairs he punched the wall abrubtly.
LILY!
A group of thirteen cloaked figures stood in a large underground chamber. They surrounded an intricate series of rune circles drawn in the blood of children. Their soft whispers echoed quietly throughout the room. These whispers were an incantation and a difficult one, at that. Soon, the rune cirles began to shimmer and finally began to glow.
Suddenly, a massive explosion of power errupted forth from the circles. The cloaked ones shielded their eyes and proceeded to move away quickly. Violet lightning crackled, dissipating as it struck the cold stone walls. A shriek of terror escaped the mouth of one of the cloaked figures as a tentacle lashed out from the circles and constricted him. The others could only watch in horror as their companion struggled and finally went limp as his bones were crushed by the tentacle.
The tentacle dropped the broken man and slithered back into the circles, which now began to emit a cloud of smoke. The cloaked ones moved back even further, fearful of what creature may appear. The smoke and circles suddenly disappeared without warning. A young man stood in their place. He glared at the group and raised his right hand into the air. Several monsters, ones of foul origins, materialized all about the chamber, and stared at the cloaked figures with hungry eyes. The young man smirked.
"I do so relish these times of peril."
The light in the room disappeared and was replaced by the tearing of human flesh and organs, followed by the wicked laughter of the young man.
It began to rain slowly, and then quickly picked up into a storm, with heavy winds.
"Let's get in, quick, before our instruments get too wet." Strake said. He was suprised by the sudden rain, expecially in the middle of summer. The town was never really too rainy, or even that close to a coast, and it never got a hurricane in it's lifetime. How is it raining in the middle of summer? Strake asked himself. Could it be from the same thing that caused my sickness? Strake pondered. He grabbed his guitar and violin, and slung them both around his back, then grabbed the bass and ran indoors.
Katie and Josh both followed Strake, they were so tired out one they reached the building, whereas Strake seemed like he just had red bull. "How are you never tired?" They said in unison.
"I use to run track, how did you two say the same thing at the same time?" Strake laughed at them then began to walk up the steps towards the backstage entrance.
"Great minds think alike I guess?" Katie and Josh said together again. They both kind of freaked, and then laughed. They were following close behind Strake.
"You got to stop doing that, I'm starting to get scared." Strake said calmly as he set down the instruments on top of the stage wood floor. The curtains were black and capetish, and were down. They were getting ready behind the curtains, where they found the rest of their band. "Guys, let's get these drums set up, and for godsake, put on a jacket Michelle, this is the day of angels." Strake said to the bands drummer, she was wearing a ripped sleeveless black shirt. "Give her you jacket Katie." Strake instructed.
"Of course, I wouldn't want her to make us look bad, she has no sense of style." Katie said, taking off her blue jean jacket. She was wearing a white shirt underneath, with blue jeans. Considering she had blue eyes and brunnete hair, she looked like an angel. Michelle grunted as she got the jacket but said nothing.
"All set, let's play a little, remember to play at PPP so that way the crowd can't here us Michelle." Strake said. Michelle was sitting at the drums, Katie stood with her unplugged bass, and Strake was playing a blue and black guitar. Josh was playing the keyboard, a band member was missing.
Zack sat with Tristan, who was air-playing the drums, most likely practicing their song. Kevin, Sarah, and Jay were off a few feet away tuning their instruments. After a short band meeting, it was decided that they would play 'Evil Angel'. Sarah's large protests weren't absent, but they were eventually silent when Jay and Kevin both told her that they weren't going to be judged by the song itself, but by how well their playing skills portrayed them. Sarah argued that they might get extra points for playing something involving the day, but she was ignored, and now they're tuning for the song.
Zack looked around, hoping to see if his suspicions were correct, and he had seen that girl. Was she the way he remembered her to be? Had she grown? What did she look like now? So many questions flooded into his head, he was startled to the point of jumping out of his seat when Tristan nudged him.
"I asked if you're looking for someone," Tristan said. Zack liked Tristan, as did everyone else in the group. He was gay, but there was a little bit of each of them inside him. He was a little more on Sarah's side about almost everything, like today's choice of song for example, but he did have his own opinions as well. He was never afraid of letting the world know about his sexuality, and he enjoyed hitting on men...no more than he enjoyed the band, but it was close.
Zack shrugged. "Yeah." He continued looking, but not so much focused on whether he sees her or not, now that Tristan wanted Zack's attention.
"Someone special?"
Again, Zack shrugged. "You could say that."
At this, Tristan laughed, and grabbed Zack in a shoulder hug. "My little Zackie is growing up!" Tristan was three years older than Zack, Jay, and Sarah, but Kevin was a year older than Tristan. "It's about freakin' time, you little loner. So, who is she?" Tristan stole a glance at Sarah. "Is she a blue-haired beauty?"
Zack looked at Tristan, and then at Sarah. "Why would I be looking for Sarah if I know she's right there? Besides, she isn't the one I'm looking for."
"Was it that girl you guys walked in with? The one from the other band?"
"No, not her." Zack sighed. he couldn't explain it to Tristan that it was an imaginary girl that he was looking for. Tristan was the biggest gossiper in the city of Alphaline, and if word got out that Zack had interest in an imaginary girl...things could turn out bad. Besides, who said Zack had interest? "Just forget it. If she's here, I'm sure I'll see her in the crowd."
(( Oh, and welcome new people!
And, once again, Evil Angel is by Breaking Benjamin (To reply to you, TanManDown, it's my favorite one!) It's a Naruto amv, but it's the best version of the song I could find ))
((Yes; welcome to all you new peoples!
Just for forewarning; I'll be adding my super-important plot twist the moment Zack's group finishes the song on stage in front of the crowd, so prepare carefully! Hehe. xd
Hint-hint, I suggest that Strake's group goes before Zack's in the conest. xd ))
Melody looked about in awe at the large magical-like place that was behind the stage of the Battle of the Band. She was surprised too at the sudden storm, for it was not like God to bring hard weather on this day. She wondered if something was afoot, then shrugged it off. If it was, he would've said something, right?
While the band meeting was going on and she was sure that Zack was safe and sound, she flew high, high up to the main curtain and looked out of it where there was a small gap; one could blame the wind if it came to it, since it was raining out now. But the place had prepared; both the band stage had a retractable roof above it's head, therefore shielding them from the rain, it was a gaint dome thing that covered the whole statium-like place. She felt as if she were a baby inside an egg or something; that they all were. The birth of music, perhaps? Tee hee hee!
As the meeting came to an end, the girl hid back on ground behind some speakers quickly, retracting her wings and going back to her disguise of white dress and white hat with red flower. She'd wait here til he went on stage, then she'd take a higher approach in the crowds. She walked about til she saw him from a not-too far-off distance. She could see that he was talking to Tristan; Tristan was a sweet child, and she hoped dearly that God didn't hate him for his....well, sexuality choice. After all, that seemed to be a big debate of today's world. Melody herself found it stupid; so he liked guys, so what? He's still human, has feelings......it made him no different.
She pretended to be working with the set as she walked by them and closer to them, being now able to hear them speak. What mainly wanted her to get closer and take risk was that the boy was worried-looking, looking for someone. She knew he meant her, but why could go either way. He could either be happy to see her again, or the latter and most likely, yell at her for screwing up his life from age 5 and up. She'd find out later, part of her not caring at all. She just wanted to see him face to face again, to be of help in more than just songs...
.
((ok, here's part of it.))
A trenchcoated figure, all in black and his face hidden in mystery, waited in a alley under a old building as the rain poured, the sky now covered in dark looming grey. All of the face that could be seen was one eye, which glowed red with evil unimaginable to the human mind. This man was not human, nor could be seen by them: this was one of the most powerful demons in the history of them, alongside another few. But either way, his disguise was sketchy; black trenchcoat, black shoes and socks, black gloves, black long sleeved shirt, black hat, black mask covering all but an eye. The creature checked his watch and groaned creepily with impatience; where the devil was the fool?! He was already very late as it was His true form was covered as he looked up at the sky; today history would be made among all creatures of both the hidious God and the glorious one this figure served. It'd be of all honor and dignity one could ever ask for, and all up to him to fulfill-
"AAAHHH, THERE you are Sot-?!"
Another, less serious figure ran towards him, flinging about a suitcase and shouting. Tempered as the cloaked one was already, looked at him in horror; this one was human, surprisingly, but as foolish as they come. In rage, he grabbed the fool by the neck and threw him against the wall, cutting off his breathing as he looked at him eye to eye, all up in personal space.
"Don't.....you...EVER shout like that again! Don't you REALIZE that screaming at ONE THAT ISN"T THERE is HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS, you arrogant fool! If we slip up today, we'll have our heads up on platters for all of hell to see! DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!" he hissed and let him go, the man clutching his neck and nodding in fear. "Y-y-y-y-es sir." he stuttered and got back up.
"Very well, did you bring the arrows?" he asked, now cool and collected.
The man nodded and opened up the briefcase, handing it to the demon carefully. He waited in silence as the creature observed them, picking one up and looking at it carefully.
