Shisei did one leap for the branch and caught it on first try. Even though the tree was young and healthy that certain branch had been worse for the wear. Shisei’s weight did nothing in aiding it. Four seconds after the boy made his grapple around the bark a loud snap could be heard and the Orochi kid plummeted back to earth. This time his posterior was first to crash land back to earth. A pieced of the branch fell in between the violet dread locks. The boy rubbed his lower back returning back to his feet. It just was not his day. That and the new day did not seem to be shaping up into a good one.

They say when it rains, it pours. For Shisei it would seem as if a heavy down pour was soon to start. The branch had given his noggin a good tap making him drowsy. That was not the main problem though. The true problem was what was living inside that limb of the tree. The branch was already dieing and had become a nice home for a small colony of ants. Their home destroyed it was time for retaliation against the perpetrator that destroyed their home. So as the serpent youth began to look for a sturdier branch, his legs and hands began to feel harsh nibbling. The tiny soldiers were going to make sure he paid the price for destroying their home.

Taking a few bites to both arms and legs Shisei finally dusted all of the little insects from his limbs and body, although he did not check his hair. Getting a little frustrated the serpent youth peered for the closest branch he could find. It was a branch that he would have to jump for, but he could actually get to this one. His palms grappled the brown structure and for a few seconds he dangled in the wind. His arms pulled him up until his chin had ascended above the branch. Then slowly his joints extended bring him closer to the ground. Even when fully stretched the boy’s feet did not touch the ground. Underdeveloped muscles in each arm began working again to pull Shisei’s chest above the bark. His nails gripped into the skin of the tree as he managed to accomplish another pull up. He was too weak today to manage to damage the unsavory peer. Speed and power would have to be worked on as well as other things.

Making another pull up Shisei realized he had forgot one source of which he could get stronger. Seshiro. He had to be strong. The teen was going on an assassination mission after all. There could be many techniques that the older snake like boy and the other Orochi spoken of would know. It would be nice to even know what techniques the Orochi had on of their creation. Shisei’s mother was not a shinobi, but she was talented in many things. The serpent’s mother never showed him any of her secrets. The most he had gotten from her was their short taijutsu lesson which Shisei tried much to absorb. As his elbows and arms pushed his chin above the bark he wondered just what techniques or abilities his mother knew.

The training had been going ok, but the tiny soldiers wanting revenge for their kingdom had not fully dissipated. Shisei managed to get them off his limbs, but a few troops clung on to the back of his shirt. The slowly continued their march up his spine and past his neck into the jungle of dreads. The serpent boy had not recognized their tiny feet crawling at the back of his collar. His mind shook off the feeling and believed it only to be the trickles of sweat from his head or the violet locks brushing against his skin. The platoon positioned themselves in different parts of the skull. All waiting to do a simultaneous bite on his head. Once each insect was at their point they all took a lunge into the flesh. Meanwhile Shisei had been pulling himself up again. His chin had just passed when his skin felt tiny pinches all over his head. Immediately he let go of the branch falling back to the ground. The snake youth landed on his feet and began to scratch at the violet jungle upon his scalp. The little fiends began falling out like black raindrops. The scaly boy was beginning to also dislike insects.

With the six legged troopers away from his purple locks, the serpent youth went back to training. He crouched slightly and pushed off the ground to make a leap high enough to grab the branch. All ten fingers just managed to dig into the bark. The elbows locked and Shisei dangled from the tree like some type of cream wind chime for a dozen seconds. His arms were becoming tired and the strain was threatening to make him fall from the branch. His mouth hung open trying to intake as much oxygen as possible to revitalize the muscles. The flesh of his arms were becoming sweaty and joints in his elbow preferred to stay lock than to do another arduous pull up. Shisei would not listen to his body’s urges though. His mouth took one big gulp of air and he pulled his body up again.

Shisei continued to try to continue his exercise. Easier said than done. The small unripe muscles were willing to call it a night and soon enough the boy found his body much harder to life than before. His eyes glared at each of his arms as if trying to scare them into movement. The ligaments would not move. As if they had become frozen by ice, the bones in the boy’s arms remained straight leaving Shisei hanging.

Shisei remained draping from the branch like a very large fruit. He hoped that a giant fruit bat or owl would decide to make an appearance now and try to have him for a midnight snack. A giant leviathan type creature had already appeared. Who was there to say there wasn’t anymore enormous creatures. Tossing the idea out of his head Shisei went back to his other task. That was how to bargain with his arms to lift him once more and continue the training. He tried to force himself again, but the boy only managed to get the top of his head pass the wooden rod. His arms straightened out after.

Eyes vibrant as the sun close, trying to focus on anything else besides the pain in his arms. He didn’t want to release just as yet. Shisei still wasn’t finish. The straining muscles in the upper ligaments were speaking a different language. The boy tried to force himself up again, but to no avail. As his forehead made it up to the bark, both palms released the wood and Shisei fell to his feet again. The serpent youth rolled his sleeves back to get a good look at his palm and arms. They were getting a bit red and his arms still had the burning feeling. He may have to rest a bit before continuing.

The serpent child was not one to be deterred so easily. His mind still wanted to accomplish the task at hand. His legs bended and pushed off the ground like some type of kangaroo. Both arms caught on to the branch. The two limbs immediately pulled the rest of his body up till his chin was inches above the bark. Then his arms slowly released him down. The process continued twice until pain weariness began to set in. The last one took much more effort and little gain in energy. Shisei could feel that his arms were beginning to tear from his body. It would not prove useful at all if his arms were to become useless. Yet his mind did not want to stop just as yet. Another idea crept into his mind. He had done seven pull ups, but there was another way to exercise his body with out use of his arms. First Shisei raised his body again for one more pull up. Instead of stopping once his neck was higher than the bark, he rearranged his arms and pulled the rest of his body up on the branch. Two legs went slinking over one side and Shisei let his up torso fall over the opposite side. Now the violet haired youth was upside down. He could do sit ups inversed. Both arms crossed over his chest and Shisei began his new exercise.

His arms may have been getting a rest, but now Shisei’s chest and abdomen were feeling the burn. He raised his body up till the tip of his nose could touch his knee. The stolid boy then slowly lower himself back upside down and arched his back. Then Shisei would lengthen his arms behind till they touched his sandal. The final part had to be done slowly or else it could mean a bad fall from out of the tree. The steady and unhurried speed when descending back to a flip side positioned made the pain only more in his upper torso. His skeleton was willing to sacrifice his arms now in turn of this new pose.

"Three…. Four…” Shisei continued his body slowing down with each sit up. He was becoming tired faster with this exercise and his heart and body were telling him to call it a night. The youth refused to listen though. As much as it pained his flesh to continue, the pain of losing was hurt much more. His body arched up again allowing for the fabric around his knee to touch his nose. Gold eyes looked ahead and could picture the little imp glaring down at him with that same wicked grin. It couldn’t be allowed to happen again.

The boy continued his training slowly. Sweat now lay on his chest and head as if someone turned a hose quickly on him. When his rose to allow the nose and knee to slightly touch, sweat would trickle down from his dreads to his cheek and chin. When the white form fell back, inversed compared to the rest of the world, the sweat would roll from his chin back up his face and sometimes into his mouth. The taste was salty and sticky. A disgusting taste. Just like how defeat tasted. If his body continued to train like this, the brackish taste would never leave. Defeat was a different matter. It would be something that had to be removed.

“Eight… Nine….” the boy’s body had about enough of the physical activity. It seemed every time Shisei pulled up his body the weight would double. He felt as if his upper body may just drop to the ground and leave his legs dangling from the tree. His fangs and teeth bit into the inner flesh of his mouth as he began to will his body to continue. The chest plate in his body felt closer to a ten pound weight than part of his body. His abdomen also felt like it took a kick. His form in total was shaking as if the weather was thirty degrees lower than it actually was. Still the serpent youth persisted. He did not want to stop just as yet.
