Madra, was humming to herself in the egg as she thought. I wonder if I should come out yet? It sounds busy out there, and I hear yelling. It would be safe in here if I stayed.
Finally curiousity got the better of Madra and she decided that it would be okay to see what was going on. It was time to try to break out of her egg. She wasn't having much luck and the egg started wobbling about, getting free from the nest. She was rolling through the cave unaware she was heading towards the cave door.

Khala spots the rolling egg just in time and goes flying toward the egg and the entrance in hopes of intercepting the runaway egg. {Ack! Hey wait! Stop moving! You're in danger!} she yells as she runs. She plants herself in the egg's path just a few yards short of the cave entrance, plopping down to provide a barrier.

{Pax, if you're not eating, could you bring us some meat from the pile? We want to be ready for this egg when it hatches. On second thought, bring as much as you can carry for you, me, and the egg's inhabitant.}

{Alright!} Pax grabbed the meat with his sharp fangs and pulled it as far as he could. He was having a little trouble stumbling here and there along the way but he managed to get it there. {Here!}

{Thanks!} She snatched up a bite-sized piece for herself, wolfed it down, and took a smaller piece and began to chew it up in preparation for the hatchling. {Take some for yourself, Pax. You don't want to go hungry at your age.}

Pax gave a grin and took a hunk of meat in his mouth. {Thank you.} He said through a mouthful of meat. {So when is this one gonna hatch?}

{Honestly, I don't know when this one's going to hatch. When it does, I bet it'll be a pretty one.} Khala looks toward the still blue-and-tan egg. {I'm not as worried about the one in this egg as the one in that egg over there. It hasn't moved at all, whereas this one was trying so hard to hatch that it nearly left the cave.}

Old Silverback surveys the cave. Three happy hatchlings are around the deer meat with Cart and Freckles. Khala sits with one of the males protecting an egg that had nearly gone over the edge at the entrance to the cave. One last egg, however, hasn't moved. Concerned, he takes a piece of meat, chews it up, and goes to wait with the last egg.
(OoC: Pterosaur-Sama, the owner of the last egg, is, I gather, in class, so will catch up to us later.)

Pax looked over at the egg Khala was motioning to. He walked over and started nudging the egg. {Come out. It's great out here. Trust me.} He pawed at the egg hoping for some sign of movement.

Cart stared at the blue-and-tan egg. {Come on, little guy or girl! Come on, please hatch!} He turned towards Old Silverback. {They do always hatch, right?} His eyes were wide with desperate hope. Please let this little egg hatch.
Sforkok watched the unmoving egg. {Will it hatch, Grandfather?} she asked, using Khala's name for him.

Old Silverback says nothing at first. {The magic doesn't always work completely. Sometimes, it takes a few tries for the hatching spells to work on all the eggs. I may have to recast the spell if it doesn't hatch soon. It will hatch, no matter what, even if it takes years for the hatching spells to take effect.}

Emblem padded up to the unhatched egg, looking at it closely. He gingerly rested a paw upon the smooth, warm surface of the shell. {Come out, little brother or sister. Come out and experience this world-it's fantastic. There's all sorts of nice dragons out here, just waiting to see you. I'll be your brother, too-you're important to me, just as all the others that hatched with me are. I want to see you, and I also want you to see this beautiful, lush world around us. This place is perfect, it's built just for us. So come out, little sister or brother...come out. You have to come out now, because if you don't, this place will not be the same as it is now. Even if you don't come out now, I'll be waiting for you. I'm Emblem, the orange and green dragon, just so you know for when you come out. I hope you do...please. Please, please, please come out.} he urged, closing his eyes and resting his head upon the egg. He concentrated upon his sibling inside with all his might, just willing for the unhatched dragon to hatch. {Please.}

Sforkok padded up to the egg. {I'm Sforkok--the green-and-yellow one. I'll be your big sister as soon as you come out. Please come out! I want to introduce you to Cart and Khala and Freckles and Ardelis and Pax! Please hatch! Emblem's right, the world just wouldn't be right without you here!} She rubbed her head against the egg. {Please, little sister? Or brother, whichever one you are? I'd let you gnaw on my tail a little if you wanted to! Please?}

{All right, back off guys, I'm sure you're crowding too close to the egg. Give it some space!} Khala calls from where she's protecting the purple and green egg. {After all, she's not the only one who hasn't hatched yet.} She looks meaningfully at the egg she's curled up around.
