I am beginning to realize that I take what some might call "a perverse pleasure" in letting good friends taste such ambrosia only to have them wander elsewhere and require them to return once again in order to imbibe in the future.

Is that a trick question, have you arranged Company for me on the balcony, because without explicit permission (granted on a case by case basis) I'd have to decline wink Or am I missing something. Or are you? It is fairly common practice in Ireland to say "Here, you have to try this, it's ******** horrible", 100% seriously also the converse is true. I know it's pretty much the same in England. It may not be in the States though.
