His brain seemed to have resulted in a train wreck at that moment as he stared at her in wide eyed surprise. "Samantha like Artemis?"
Yes, he had referred to himself in third person. Samantha's ears weren't fooling her. He was so cute looking with that dumbfounded look on his face.

She blinked a few times in surprise and Samantha's right ear actually twitched a bit at the odd sentence. She couldn't even think on how she wanted to respond...she only stared in silence for a full minute or so.
"I..." She started hesitantly, still trying to get her own thoughts in some semblance of order. "I...I guess I do...yes..." she finished quietly. Of course she liked him...but that wasn't exactly what he was asking NOW was it? No...on the more serious level? 'Like liked?' as the teenagers sometimes put it nowadays? To be honest, she wasn't sure. It wasn't as if she'd ever felt anything like that before. But...she felt....comfortable around Artemis. That was saying something in itself.
As it was, she wasn't ready to say the words just yet...but she wasn't denying the possibility outright just yet either.

"Eee~!" He squealed. Yes. He actually squealed in delight. His arms wrapped around her middle and squeezed tightly a moment. "Ilikeyoutoo!"
Yep... back to the mile-an-hour talk.

Blushing deeply, the wide-eyed Samantha did little to either encourage or discourage the male fox's reaction at first. Well....that was rather...squeaky. She was a bit more amused now, even if she couldn't breathe correctly for a second there, and patted Artemis' back with one hand, chuckling. "Well, nice to see that that's all settled now. Care to let me inhale again? I'm afraid my lungs miss the oxygen." Obviously, she was teasing only to take the attention off of herself, seeing as she was speaking just fine.

"Eep!" He quickly backed off, shooting halfway across the room it seemed like. He looked scared of the thought of accidentally suffocating her. "I'm sorry Samantha!" gonk

Laughing loudly, Samantha reached out automatically for Artemis' wrist to pull him back. "Get back here, you! I was just teasing! Goodness...I can see I'm going to have to be more careful in what I say around you. You take things so seriously!"
She was still smiling broadly as she tilted her head at the other fox. "You know, you need to learn to take a joke if you're going to spend much time around me. I'm not sure I can change myself to stop; it's rather second nature for me to be sarcastic and whatnot. Just...don't take me too seriously, 'k?"
Of course, there were times when Samantha needed to be taken seriously...very seriously. Though, she doubted the situation would ever arise with Artemis at least...
