[[ Rolls ]]
Karite The Reaper rolled 3 20-sided dice: 7, 19, 12 Total: 38 (3-60)

((I am not sure what rolls I am doing here. The teamwork thing always threw me.))

Kore looked at Baki and smiled as much as a lion could. Sinking down trying to compress his body he was ready for the hunt. He wanted a piece of the prey, he hadn't caught his own food in a couple of days and was beginning to want a piece of the action. Now that Baki and Maya were back he was sure there would be more times like this coming everyday, but with this white stuff falling from the sky who knew what could happen.

Roll[7]+charisma mod [1]+coordination[3]=total teamwork[44]

Karite turned around heading towards the source, knowing Kore he was only trying to scare some birds with his roar. Of course Karite knew Kore didn't roar like that, but to calm his own nerves he would think such things for the time being. Walking towards the source he let his Jo hold his balance through the damp marshy ground he walked through so diligently looking for wood. Finding the wood was not the problem. It was finding the wood without becoming scared at every turn. This forest was full of something and it was beyond creepy in his eyes. Walking through the now snowing forest he managed to spot a lump in the thin layer of blanketing snow. Another log, it would have to be dried a little but it should do perfect for the job.

Baki snorted, and he realized that the faint scent of the doe had disappeared...because now it was snowing. With a low growl, Baki shook his mane and lifted his nose again, wondering if the scent would come back. Certainly, the doe wouldn't have smelled them - they were downwind, and there was snow falling. The doe's sense of smell would be weakened, as his was - but Baki was trained, and the doe was wild. Perhaps that would make all the difference, and perhaps not. Even so, Baki wasn't going to go at this alone. Kore would have to help with this one, or he wouldn't eat.

Kore could see Baki was getting frustrated, but with the snow around it seem it was throwing off his sense of smell. Kore though two noses were better then one. Sticking his snout into the air he began to breath in deeply. The cub was a little hazy on the scent he was looking for but he was sure that if needed he could pick it in no time flat. He was getting good at tracking things, he had found Baki twice already. Now if he could find dinner he would be even better then ever and only getting better. As the snow feel it seemed to fill Kore's nose which caused him to sneeze ever so slightly. While cute Baki probably would not have appreciated the distraction.

Karite was beginning to recognize the surrounding area and knew he was almost at the entrance, but thanks to the thin layer of snow before he could still see paw prints, but there were also footprints. He didn't know who else could be on the island besides the villagers so Karite decided to follow them. Along the path the snow seemed to sting his body like little pins. He really needed to find some shoes and a shirt for the winter season. Maya would be proud but she would more then call the boy stupid. As he walked he noticed his jewelry was beginning to form ice on them. It was getting much colder if that was happening. Fighting through it he kept his eyes open to make sure he found the last piece of firewood he would need. Low and behold it was there in front of him. The biggest piece yet. He would need both arms for this. Placing his jo in both hands he held his arms out and cradled the wood. As he walked he could see someone familiar in the light snow. "MAYA!"

Baki growled softly in approval, and lifted his head ever so slightly, his great golden eyes catching the movement of a doe between the falling flakes of white. The new white speckles stuck to his coat, hiding him moderately effectively. Mottled in light colors, Baki attempted to creep closer and closer to the doe, trying to make it so that it would be easy for Kore to copy and advance. Baki took a deep breath and released it slowly, inching forward. Unlike the buck, the doe's first instinct would be to run - not fight back.

Maya blinked, lifting her head sharply and blinking. Her dark tawny eyes sought the speaker, though she knew well enough who it was. "Karite," she said softly, standing over both the body of the lynx and the buck. She had been debating skinning them right then and there, but then it had started to snow. It would be much better to skin them by a fire, and it seemed like Karite had been collecting wood. Maya, obviously, was unsure of how they were going to get both hunted animals back to the camp. She could drag the buck, since she wouldn't be using it as a pelt. Throw the lynx on top...Maya huffed when she realized Baki had gone to hunt something else. He was really stocking up on meat, wasn't he? Hmph. Well, better than having no meat in the winter.

Kore did not smell anything, at first but if Baki moved Kore moved. Stepping forward his paws spreading ever so slightly on the snow. He was not going to mess this up, Baki would not be happy. Living in a shadow as big as Baki's was going to be hard but it could be done and Kore knew that, but being with Baki as an equal would be even harder. He already tried beating him that didn't work. Now he had to work to be on the same level as him. Which meant starting now he had to be the most perfect hunting and fighting companion ever.

Setting down the wood Karite smiled as he saw Maya. he had really missed her while she was away and he had much to tell her about Kore and himself. "Maya I am glad you are back. I have so much to tell you and show you. Like this!" Karite held out the Jo in his hand his body shaking violently with every snowflake. "Kore and me had so much fun together. I don't know how I lived without the little guy, but Ruha slept a lot. She wasn't much fun." The little boy seemed to talk a million words a second about everything that transpired with him and the cub while she was away. He was like a little brother and he saw Maya as his sister. Some may have found her scary, but Karite saw her for what she was a strong shonbi.

[Ignore 8 lol crap!]

Baki lunged at the doe, remembering at the last minute that he wanted Kore to do some damage. Landing on the doe's rear, Baki held her firmly, ready to break her legs to give the cub a fighting chance to at least get his teeth into the kill. Baki knew it would be hard for Kore to even get his teeth into the doe's neck, much less know the vital spot for killing it on a beast this big, but he'd never learn unless someone gave him a chance, and Baki wasn't always going to be around. He and Maya had missions to go on, after all, and Baki would not stand for it if Kore allowed his boy-wonder to hunt for him and didn't do any work.

Attack: Co-op: Giving Kore the Lead

1/2 Fight[14] -> Total Attack -> [14] + Kore's Roll

Special: If you fail, prey gets away and you have to repeat your hide, spy and then fight check over again.

Maya shook her head slowly. "Ruha just had a harder time adjusting," she argued quietly. Sure, the little lioness had slept a lot, but who would blame her? Kore was strange - even Baki had been a little sick after his boat ride from the fire country. Maya eyed the bo, though, and reached behind her to her own tekagi, strapped to her waist. She held them up almost reverently, a small semblance of a smile on her face. "Train hard. One day we'll fight," she said simply, emphasizing her challenge by settling her eyes on his. Strange colored eyes...though the same could be said of Maya's, only a few hues away from matching Baki's.

Kore was happy to follow Baki, but when he saw an opening he took it. Climbing up Baki's back Kore leaped and dug his claws into the doe's neck and spun around biting in deeply trying his best to crush the wind pipes. Hanging from his teeth and claws he hopped the pressure from his jaw was enough to strangle the doe to the ground, if not birds seemed like all he would be eating for a long time to come.

Karite looked almost in ah at the blades Maya had obtained. While he was fine with his new weapon one day he would have to upgrade to some type of metal. Not only the fact that Maya just challenged him to a fight, but she also was much calmer then she was before. "Maya...Do you know what happened? There was a stir in the village last night and I was busy trying to get Kore back to the grounds so he could sleep." Karite had no clue what was going on. Maya wasn't herself though so something was bothering her.

[omg...hope you get good rolls Karite!!!]

Baki growled, clambering up the doe's back and digging his sharp claws into the doe's shoulders. A good spot - he made sure to avoid Kore and clamped his jaws down on the doe's neck hard, drawing blood instantly. He shook his head, though he was careful to not knock Kore off because that would be counterproductive. Baki felt his grip slipping, and hoped that the cub could stay on while the life drained from this large animal. The doe's meat would definitely be tastier to Maya, so Baki really wanted to get this doe taken down - maybe boy-wonder would eat too, if he didn't have to go back to his little place on the other end of the island. Not many people stayed more than a night or two at the grounds because of all the bones and scraps lying around.

Maya turned her head to the sky, and studied the falling flakes. How to answer? He should have gone to the village wide meeting...he had probably been asleep. Ah... "Ichi-sama-sensei got turned to stone. Stupid Shinichi called Seshiro onii-chan a traitor. The Orochi village is destroyed." Maya shrugged - she wasn't bothered so much as she was puzzled over how to get the kill back to the grounds. It was a lot of meat...but now that she thought about it, Shinichi hadn't been fair. Missing automatically made them traitors...maybe they'd run for cover, and never got the chance to come back. Maybe they'd been hit with one of the huge flying stones...

((I gave the rolls I will finish it in class...lol. I hate basic computing))

Kore noticed Baki was getting into the fight a little more then he was. Digging his teeth into to its limit he grabbed hold as hard as he could. Nothing was going to make him let go till this animal was down. This reminded the cub much of the game he had played with Baki. It would take a lot of force to bring him down now. Once locked in like this it was written in stone who would win. With Baki helping as well it should be easy. Kore could taste the blood building up in the back of his throat. It was all draining into his mouth. Such a strong taste, bitter yet sweet. This the one moment of the hunt that was worth it all. When the work lead into the reward.

Karite was a little unease at how easy Maya slipped the words out as if giving commands to a new squad of soldiers. She did not flatter a single word, nor did she even shudder. She was harden steel and it seemed almost nothing could break her down. "I thought Seshiro-chan was your friend? Aren't you going to miss him? Ichi was to nice and very strong to be turned to stone. Wont you miss him too?" Karite knew about losing people but even he held the memory of them in his heart. Maya seemed to have sired their memory out of her head like fat from a fresh kill.

Baki heard the sharp snap before he felt the doe's legs slacken and give way. Baki clung on for a second longer, then released, letting Kore test the weight of the beast. It would be a while before the cub could hunt alone, simply because of the size of the animal, but perhaps the cub would soon be able to bring down a fawn. For his size, the animal's young would be a meal and a half for the cub, and even then there would probably be meat left over. Baki shook out his mane, beginning to grow irritated with the snow, and let out a rumbling roar that shook the leaves on nearby bushes. Maya would know he was done hunting, and they'd head home to the grounds.

Maya blinked again, trying to understand Karite. At this point, she was growing more and more used to the people around her up and leaving whenever they pleased - no one stuck around. She opened her mouth, then closed it, considering her answer. Then her stare hardened, and she growled softly. "I don't need to miss people who choose to leave - I don't need to miss people who don't stick around." she snapped. True, even now, she rarely 'missed' Shuga, and she hadn't thought of Xyn since she first stepped on the island and spent time at the grounds. She eyed Karite suspiciously, snorting and turning away from him - before turning back and picking at the bracelets on her wrist. It was only luck that he was still here, so she might as well return the things to him. She held them out, waiting for him to take them back. She heard Baki's roar, and knew soon enough they would be back on the grounds, and she could finish her work.

Kore suddenly felt a snap through his teeth and know Baki had killed the beast. He knew for sure when the weight of the doe came falling down on him. Feeling all the air escape from the small lungs in his body. Squishing his body he managed to pull himself out from under the kill, but was no longer black and gold but with an added red in the mix. As Baki roared Kore tried to copy but not much came out. It would get better he hoped. It would be hard to scare anyone with a roar like that.

Karite didn't understand what Maya had been through but he was not going to try and understand now. It would be a long time before she realized that he had given up a lot to come here and didn't plan on leaving anytime soon. He would be around for many years to come if not forever. As Maya tried to give back the bracelet he pushed her hand away. "You and Baki keep it. It must have brought you some luck and it looks good on you. Besides as long as you have the bracelet I wont be to far behind." as he finished talking he heard that roar again and his heart jumped, but Karite put on the biggest smile. "Baki!" While Baki was not Kore he was still a lion. "Speaking of Baki...Maya." Karite said hesitantly. "I need a place to stay. I dont feel safe in the dorms with Tanu around."

Maya's eyes narrowed, and she stepped forward, forcibly tying the bracelets back on Karite's arm. "I make my own luck," she growled softly, though she wasn't really angry with Karite. After a slight pause, she shook her head. "Tanu is Kun'Kumo - the Kun'Kumo hate Tategami. You can stay," she said softly, though she looked up and glared at him. "But if that imp ever comes onto Tategami grounds, it's you who has to answer for it - after she does." Maya stepped away, and hoisted the lynx over her shoulder. Ooomph..! It was heavy! Fat little cat...at least she didn't have to carry Baki...she eyed the buck, and decided Baki would drag it between his forelegs. They were on the other side of the village, but he'd been the one to overhunt - so he'd have to carry it home. She waited, and when he appeared, she draped the lighter doe over his back and let him resolve himself with the buck.

Baki dragged the doe back to Maya, and stood still while she arranged it on his back. It wasn't half as heavy as the buck, but he had almost had to save Kore from being smothered. Luckily, the cub was stronger than he looked, and he'd soon be a good addition to the pride. Snorting (damn, why did he have to hunt so much?), he gripped the buck by the neck and began dragging it back to the Tategami grounds so that the large body dragged a little awkwardly between all four of his legs. It would be impossible to leave it to Kore to carry alone, and the boy-wonder had chunks of firewood in his arms - Baki just wanted to get home.

Karite looked at his wrist as Maya tied the bracelet back on. She wasn't very trusting in others. A strong loner to the end. Baki seemed like the only friend she had left. Karite would do his best to fix that. Looking he saw Baki and little Kore coming up behind him pouncing around all excited and covered in blood. Karite couldn't help but to smile. "Hey little buddy, lets go back to the ground. I am going to have to clean you up. Cant sleep like that, you will wake your sister up for sure with all that blood." Picking up the wood Karite followed the lead of his new family so to speak. Maybe one day Maya would see not everyone had to leave her.

Kore came up pouncing around like a jack rabbit in heat. He was so excited that he helped Baki bring down dinner. It was a big moment for the little guy and it showed in his reaction. As Baki showed his massive strength by bringing in both catches of the buck and the doe. Kore was even more impressed. Following along he noticed Karite was back and walking ahead with Maya. This was a nice change of scenery. Seeing the three together like that it reminded him much of his old life. Then he remembered how he had completely forgotten about his mother. His happy feeling seemed to freeze just like the forest around him. He had been so happy to be around others like he had forgotten the one who loved him before anyone.

Orika spat on the sign post warning students not to come near the forbidden forest and went right on ahead. If they wanted to keep them out, they should have built a fence around the woods. Actually, that wouldn't stop her! She'd just climb over or rip a hole through the darn thing. Orika cheerily grinned and silently waved for her companions to quiet, though there wasn't really a need with those mice. The first thing she noticed as she limped into the forest was how the atmosphere suddenly... changed. It was the complete opposite of throwing a pebble into a pond and watching it ripple up the lake, for all at once the air became heavy and still. Orika was reminded of being stuck in a layer of oil, where even the slightest movement caused the whole concoction to shake. And that smell! Orika loved the smell of the sea; She went down there everyday and could distinguish the comforting salty scent anywhere! This fragrance, however, held beneath it an aroma of putridity, barely detectable by their young noses. It stunk and made the girl feel at unease.

But this brief moment of uncomfortableness only made her more excited to dive as deep into the forest as they possibly could, explore places not even the jounin had been to! Orika stifled a giggle and limped forth. She quickly found a deer trail and followed it into the forest, so far that the light from the outside eventually faded into nothing. The only rays of sunlight that trickled in had to go past the clouds and then through multiple layers of giant, overshadowing trees, which rendered the forest floor in almost complete darkness. Orika instinctively felt around for a hand; She didn't want the three to break up and become useless for hunting. With each limp forwards, she heard twigs snap underneath. What was she thinking, trying to catch a deer in her condition? She had no throwing weapons so catching it on foot would be stupid. She had no choice but to make a trap on the trail and hope that a stupid deer would come meandering by. Now the question remained of what kind of trap to create; It wasn't like she were an expert or anything!
