"Thank you!" She smiled, and followed him. He was being nice. Although she wouldn't want to toss Emilie's book at his head, if it came to that, she had a manga to hit him with. With the right amount of force, and if she hit him with the right end, it could hurt quite a bit. She'd have to note this... maybe blog about it. She would be blogging several times a day at this point, she'd have to combine them. Yeah, half hour blogs are the perfect things to watch! She'd have to pick out the best subjects... ((I can whack people on the head pretty hard with a paperback book XD ))

Alyekzander was quiet as he led Madeline to the kitchen. He really could not think of anything else to say to her, and was perfectly content not to speak anyway. He navigated the house with the ease of long practice so it did not take long for them to arrive. A few pairs of eyes rose at the interruption of people entering the kitchen, but almost everyone immediately turned back to their work. The head chef lasted longest, looking to Alyekzander as if determining whether he should remind him of his kitchen eviction. The cold look and slight frown he received from Alyekzander in response apparently helped him decide it simply was not worth it. Alyekzander gave the kitchen a piercing scan; any one found slacking off would be serving Madeline hand and foot until he was satisfied. Chopping onions at a snail's pace, mopping the same spill interminably; such transgressions deserved immediate retribution. Pleased to see that all were genuinely busy, he had to admit the bustle and hoopla of having these girls here had at least one good effect. "What would you like?" He asks as he finally turns his gaze back to Madeline.

Madeline's jaw had dropped to the floor. Holy crap! All she wanted was a snack! With this kitchen she could've ordered a thanksgiving turkey and have it in her hands toot-sweet! "U-hunh?" She straightened her back, and looked down. "Uhm... I'll have..." She flushed, no decent lawyer should be at a loss for words! "Macaroni-and-cheese." She blurted out. In this house, she needed something familiar. Hopefully they wouldn't mess with the classic dish. She blushed even more, and looked down at her shoes. She felt like a rat here, she didn't belong in this shiny clean world. Tears flooded her eyes without warning. She wanted to be home... but they sold her home. She swiped her hand over her eyes to hide the tears, and grinned to cover it up. "Yeah, mac'n'cheese please."

Alyekzander waited patiently and silently while Madeline composed herself. Far be it from him to bring attention to her short lapse into depression. He lifts a brow at her choice. "Macaroni and cheese? That is all?" Well, macaroni and cheese it would be. Weaving into the bustle of human bodies with little effort, Alyekzander began pulling out ingredients. If Madeline wanted a traditional, home style macaroni and cheese she would have to reign in his impulses. For Alyekzander was already sending off the errand boy for the prosciutto. Alyekzander just did not do simple.

Madeline took a seat on the ground, watching silently. After a bit, she pulled her knees up to her chest, and rested her forehead on them. Softly and quietly... she cried. Her shoulders shook and her head ached. She needed something familiar, the adrenaline rush of a new place had worn off. It sank in that she wouldn't be able to go home. She wouldn't be able to waltz down the hallway, singing at the top of her lungs without annoying anyone. She wouldn't be able to sink into the well-worn couch and watch a dozen movies on her sick days... she wouldn't be able to waltz over to her neighbor's house and say 'Hey, I heard you need a babysitter, I'm free tomorrow night!' without setting off an alarm system. She would never feel at home again. Not ever, not here anyways.

Alyekzander had wrapped all of his attention into his task and did not at first notice Madeline's distress. However one of the cooks, a kindly looking middle aged man with glasses, approached her. He crouched by Madeline and offered her a handkerchief. "Are you alright, Miss? Here, take this." It was not until Alyekzander heard the man speaking, odd words among the usual kitchen babble chaos, that he realized anything was amiss. The macaroni and cheese was close enough to done that Alyekzander roped one of the kitchen staff into completing it. He strode over to where Madeline sat, but found he could not address her. She was in tears, but looked to be unharmed. "What happened? Was she burned?" He asks of the man next to her, but the fellow just shakes his head with a clueless look. "Well find out, man." Alyekzander demanded, brows knitting together.

"I want to go home!" She managed to say between sobs. She tried to get ahold of herself, but couldn't. She had taken the handkerchief, but wasn't using it. Instead it was balled up in her left hand, which was used to hug her knees.

"It's alright, it's going to be okay." The man gently rubbed Madeline's back, trying to comfort her. Alyekzander watched this for a moment before he crouched in front of her. He took the handkerchief from her hand, gently lifted her chin and started to dry her tears. He kept an impassive expression on his face as he spoke in a low voice. "Home is wherever you can carve out territory of your own. I do not doubt that you can do this. You have already carved territory in my fragile peace of mind, after all."
It was not the most comforting thing to say, but what did Alyekzander know about comforting girls? What he knew about was conquering his expressions of weakness. It disquieted him to see this girl in tears. He could not really say why; he did not very much care that she wished to leave. He wished she could leave! But it bothered him on some level that she could be so public in her grief.
He turned to the fellow next to them. "You may return to duty. If you wish to do something for the young miss, feel free to fetch her meal from that staring idiot over there." He turned to those who had stopped out of concern. Or perhaps just to watch; Alyekzander was quite firmly of the opinion that the staff ate his family's weakness like candy and he could not help the deep frown that creased his features. "My father does not pay you to gawk at distressed young ladies." He spoke more icily than he intended.
Finally he looked back to Madeline. "This is not the end of you, Madeline. Come on, stand up. Are you not stronger than this?"

Madeline looked at Alyekzander with a mix of hatred, confusion, and even a slight bit of admiration. She wiped her tears, and slowly shook and nodded her head. She looked at him. "You gourmetified my mac'n'cheese didn't you." she said clearly, with a slight tinge of annoyance, an a pinch of amusement.

Alyekzander smirked at Madeline's annoyed tone. "But of course. Are you going to pick out things like a petulant toddler? I assure you I will oblige you with a satisfying amount of horror and indignity." Good, she would be alright for now. Hopefully that would last her until she could find some privacy to preserve her dignity.

"No," she rolled her eyes, "That would be rude. Your family doesn't do rude, of course us peasants must marvel at your taste, and savor every little bite." She grinned, and took the mac'n'cheese. It was good, but she could still have fun mocking it. And the fact that he was responding in that manner only added to her amusement. This could entertain her for a while.

Cecelia wandered the hallways, running the tips of her fingers along the walls. "This house sure is big..." She said to herself, not even trying to be quiet. She was keeping a low profile on her rebelious side for now, and hopefully none of her sisters blew her cover. She removed her hand from the wall, bringing both of her hands behind her back, as she drifted along, pausing every so often to look inside a room. What Cecelia really needed was to meet one of these "brothers", to plan out the best possible way to annoy them. First, though, was to be an angel, so her new father would not believe later on that she would be capable of the things she was planning to do. Ooo, she'll have oodles of fun!
Upon reaching a longer hallway, she heard bustling near-by, and peered in a room that looked to be the kitchen. Cecelia gawked in awe at all the chefs and waitors, and just all the helpers. Two of the persons in the room stood out, one Cecelia reconizing to be her little sister. She approached the two gracfully, stopping beside Madeline.
"Good Morning sis." She said, before setting her gaze upon the boy who was talking with her. "And you must be... hmm.. let me see.. Alyekzander? Am I right?" Cecelia smiled sweetly.

Max sped around a final corner and barged through the door to the kitchen at top speed, speaking as he did so. "I know this is last minute, but could you guys--" He broke off, taking in Alyek and two of the girls. Alyek, okay, he could accept that, inconvenient as it was, but why had he let two girls into his sanctuary? He thought about that for a second, then came up with a better question; who cared? "Nevermind," he said hastily, turning and pushing the door open with his free hand, "If Dad asks, I've gone out," he added over his shoulder. The door shut behind him, cutting off any response, and Max made his way, very quickly to the garage. Those girls were absolutely nothing but trouble.

Alyekzander lofted a brow at Madeline's response, amused in spite of himself, but before he could goad her any further, two things happened in the space of a breath. One of Madeline's sisters entered and addressed them. And Maksim made a short cameo appearance in the more crowded by the minute kitchen. Choosing to ignore Maksim's entrance, he was already gone any way so there was little point to protesting his behavior, Alyekzander instead turned to Cecelia. "Yes, I am Alyekzander." Not surprisingly, he did not know which girl this was. Nor did he pretend to.

"Cool. I'm Cecelia." Cecelia answered, looking at Madeline. It looked as though she had been crying, but didn't press on it. She kept her smile plastered on, dying to do something wicked or evil to Alyekzander.
