Cloudpelt had been just about to rush in and attack Feathersong when Fawnfur arrived and stopped the fighting. She hissed vehemently at the Riverclan cats. What the heck did they think they were doing coming onto ThunderClan territory and starting a fight?! At ShadowDreams suggestion she cast one last glance at her good friend Fireheart before turning and following him away. No point in getting the deputy angry with them. "I wonder if Fireheart will tell me what that was all about later..." she meowed to ShadowDream.

Fireheart threw himself onto the ground as Mangoberry leapt onto him, trying to crush him and throw him off. Then the weight was removed and he was relieved, rising quickly to his paws he turned and was about to attack Mangoberry for attacking Thunderclaw when he felt something clamp onto his leg, turning he thumped his paws at Feathersong's head, claws unsheathed trying to get the cat to let go. Then Fawnfur showed up and everything seemed to stop. As the excess cats cleared out he glared at Mangoberry, still burning with the desire to rip the other toms head off despite his sprained ankle and other various wounds.

He turned to looked directly at Fawnfur... then at Mothstar then at Mangoberry. "What happened was I fell for a Riverclan shecat... then i broke it off with her thinking it better we be with cats from our own clans... not knowing she was already going to mother my kits, then Mangoberry seemed to see it fit to come and try to tear me to shreds." he stated bluntly, never once did he say Fernpelt all he could do was hope that they wouldn't punish her for something so trivial.

Mangoberry seemed to calm to Fawnfur's words though he still wasn't sure if he could trust her. He was about to reply to Fawnfur when Fireheart spoke.

Mangoberry's eyes glowed once more and despite the pain he staggered to his feet letting out a roar of anger. He looked like he was about to leap at Fireheart, but something, most likely an on looking leader stopped him.

"You fox dung badger licking dog spit of a kittypet!!! You say it so bluntly as though it doesn't matter! You worthless piece of filth! You've doomed her and the kits, they'll know! The whole clan!! You enchanter and liar, I swear to you Fireheart, by Starclan and all that has ever made me the warrior I am, I will kill you!!!"

Mangoberry dug his claws into the earth trying to stop from flinging himself into a passionate brawl once more.

Mothstar closed her eyes. Knowing that one of the cats who looked up to her and Fernstar for leadership and safety had been failed so miserably pulled at her heart and made her want to simultaneously collapse in her den to sulk and bring the offending tom to justice with a few well aimed swipes. She took a deep breath. She couldn't let herself jump to conclusions, she couldn't let herself get emotional about this.

Thinking rationally once more, the image of her swatting away at the battle ravaged tom almost made her laugh for a second. Her? Attack another cat when she wasn't immediately in danger or protecting a clanmate who was in danger? It simply would never happen, despite daydreaming of displays of strength. It just wasn't her.

"Thank you for the calm in which you approached this problem Fawnfur," she mewed, positioning herself between Mangoberry and Fireheart. "Riverclan would appreciate some time to discuss the matter, and until then I pray you and your patrol keep it to yourselves."

"The only thing any other cat will learn until we have discovered the truth is that these two toms had an argument after Mangoberry, caught in a rough patch of water while concentrating on swimming, was forced to detour to Sunningrocks for a few minutes. I don't want gossip flying about."

Pleased with her story, Mothstar twitched her tail back and forth and looked down at her paws.

"Oh!" she mewed, image shattered. "Um, you can tell Sunstar though. If you want I mean." She fumbled for the right words. Fernstar's distraught face seemed to materialize in front of Mothstar as she thought. She had to be the she cat involved, Mothstar knew the way Mangoberry looked at her.

The words came.

Rounding on Fawnfur once again, Mothstar stood as tall as she could and locked eyes with the other she cat.

"If Riverclan is at fault, rest assured that we will take responsibility and nothing will be done to harm your warrior or his reputation. But if Fireheart proves to have harmed one of the cats under my leadership and disrespected the warrior code as much as is implied, Thunderclan had better not let one whisker of his cross that border or I will personally tear him to shreds along with Mangoberry."

She stood next to the injured Riverclan tom, ready to help him swim back across the river for a nice rest in KoiSplash's den. She looked toward camp, not trusting herself not to fall over and make a complete fool of herself. What she said was not tactful. Not tactful at all. It had left her heart racing and her legs shaking, but part of it, albeit a very small part, felt that she had down something right.

Fawnfur shot Fireheart a look. Mangoberry seemed to have calmed slightly, but now he was riled up again. She huffed and lashed her tail slightly in her irritation with the toms and the situation. A deep sigh calmed her anger.

The ThunderClan deputy dipped her head at Mothstar's words. "Of course, Mothstar. We will keep this quiet on our side. I'll be sure to not let word of this spread. I promise. If Sunstar inquires of this, I will tell him in private." She nodded sincerely as she finished speaking.

Fawnfur bowed her head in agreement with what the RiverClan leader was saying. "Yes, Mothstar, I understand. Measures will be taken to keep an eye on Fireheart until this mess is sorted out. If at fault, we will make it so that he may not cross the border into RiverClan territory." She sat up to her full height, her face straight and serious. "Precautions will be laid out as will the consequences be made known. ThunderClan will do our part in keeping this situation discrete."

She watched as the other she-cat moved over to the injured RiverClan tom. Shifting her gaze over to Fireheart, she rose and moved over to the fiery coated tom. Fawnfur's face remained serious. "Are you injured and if so, how badly? You can walk?"

Her nerves were rattled from the whole ordeal. A fight between RiverClan and ThunderClan, if not taken care of, may lead into bigger conflicts, which she hoped wouldn't be the case. If all went well, then things would get settled, the offending tom would be punished, and hopefully, any bad blood would be cleansed. Fawnfur was also a bit aggrivated. The day had started out so nicely.

Mangoberry seemed to give Fireheart one last look of pure hatred before Mothstar positioned herself beside him. Taking his eyes off Fireheart the pain rumbled through his body finally catching up with him.

He grunted a bit looking to the ground, thankful Mothstar was shielding in from view slightly. Was what he had done the right thing? He let his pure rage control him and now the whole clan was going to know who Fernpelt's kits were. They would know he lied, they would know Fernpelt had betrayed the clan, and they would know the kits were half clan cats. For what? Rage, injuries, and maybe a chance at justice. Now looking back on it, it seemed the wrong thing to do.

Mangoberry's eyes finally raise trying to give Mothstar a look of gratitude. He began to hobble towards the water, wounds still dripping blood and his leg looking rather bad. Stopping at the water's edge he sighed knowing he could not make it across without Mothstar's help which was hard for the proud tom to admit.

Fireheart listened to all that was said, he never spoke more than what he already had. Just listened, and watched. He knew there was a good chance it would come back badly on him, so be it. As the meeting broke up and Fawnfur asked if he was alright he merely nodded briskly before rising to his paws. Bruising, a few scratches, only one large wound, he'd be fine. He headed off away from the other cats, in the general direction of camp but he had no intentions of going back just yet.

Fawnfur seemed ready to blame him, that meant the rest of the clan would too. He knew it was partially his fault, he was the one who had let her get the best of him, let her take his heart, knowing full well what the consequences could be but he hadn't expected she would get pregnant, nor had he expected that he would fall in love with Gypsy. He'd tried to tell her they should see cats from their own clans. He tried to justify his actions knowing that if he couldn't justify them to himself he'd have no chance at convincing the others.

In the end he decided he was at fault but that they all were. He'd fallen for Fernpelt, but she'd fallen for him too, and they had been in love, it wasn't his fault he had decided to follow the Warrior Code and break it off with her, he hadn't known she was pregnant with his kits. As for Mangoberry, Fireheart hadn't initiated the fight, he hadn't raised a paw against any cat in moons until this incident. Mangoberry should've had better control, sure, Fireheart probably deserved to be told off but to start an actual fight? What was Mangoberry? An apprentice?

After all of his thinking and wandering Fireheart finally wound up at camp, slipping through the gorse tunnel he headed straight for the warriors den where he lay down and began cleaning up his wounds and pelt to make it look as if nothing had happened.

Mothstar gently ran her tail across Mangoberry's flank. "I'll grab your scruff and help guide you over," she mewed quietly as the Thunderclan cats retreated. She waded into the river up to her belly fur, feeling the current swirl around her legs. It was a bit choppy, but she felt they could make it.

"Ready?"

Mangoberry felt comforted by his leader's presence, but from the injuries he had been given some would question his chance of being a full warrior once more. He waded into the water after her blood washing into the river from his stained coat and still bleeding wounds.

"No...but do I have a choice?" Mangoberry still seemed to try and cling to his humour even though his grunts betrayed his forced chuckle. Mangoberry clung close to Mothstar and waited for her to start moving. She would have to drag him he could stand but it would only take one or two kicks in the water before his body gave out of him.

It was awkward, but together Mothstar and Mangoberry successfully navigated to the other side of the river. She licked her fur dry as she let the injured warrior catch his breath, her brown eyes observing the Thunderclan cats as they padded in the opposite direction. Finally their pelts completely blended into the forest and she turned once more to Mangoberry.

Mothstar wanted to say a lot of things. Questions flooded her mind as to why the unfortunate event had been allowed to spiral out of control in the fashion it did, and as to the extent of Mangoberry's injuries. At the same time, she wanted to try and offer him comfort, to tell him that Fernpelt would be alright, but no combination of words worked. Finally, she quietly mewed the last left that felt appropriate.

"Let's go home."
