I am arguably one of the biggest choir nerds ever. Seriously. I've always sung soprano 1 but for tour choir this year I was alto 2.
Has anyone done a Whitacre piece? I freaking looooove Whitacre. In my tour choir we sang With a Lily. Words cannot describe how incredibly amazing that was.

OMG i cant believe that you went from a soprano one to an alto two. you are so lucky i with i could drop down three voices. i would LOVE to sing bass my teacher is lame everyone sings the easiest thing for him to teach. all altos sing alto one, all sopranos sing soprano two. all guys sing bass one except when we do ssa music of course has anyone preformed Handlel's "Let their celestial concerts all unite"? that's our audition piece for Honor Choir this year

I was a choir kid but my school terminated the program along with the teacher. I got placed in musical theatre. To tell you the truth it's not bad. I just wish they had a better voice teacher. stare

GO CHOIR!!! ive been in it since 3rd grade. im not in 7th. love it sooo much. been in it 5 years. my friends come and go with it. they are in it but not as long as me. we had are concert two days ago. we were awesome, but screwed up one song. damn altos weren't doing their part. (no offense altos) the song was "A Star Dances, An Angel Sings". really pretty song, if u can hit those high notes. i have been switched before to alto 1 from soprano 2. it wasn't hard, but i was switched again after 3 practices. GO CHOIR X2!!

iTiCKLE_PANDaS Yay for choir! Second soprano here, and I've got some solos for the upcoming concert. Ohmigosh I'm scared... Any advice on how to sing more powerfully? I know that story, but make sure ur breathing is right, lateral, diaphragmatic, whichever one, just make sure that's on par. I find whenever I take in large gusts of air, and then tuck my tummy in, I can hold notes longer even if they're loud. So maybe that'll work for you. Also try to not be tense, make sure your chest is open, shoulders relaxed...and hey if you love the song, just sing it. (I usually close my eyes whenever I need to get an especially powerful note across, just to ensure I have no distractions from that note.)

I've been in my schools chorus since 5th grade and I'm in 12th currently. smile I'm an Alto but sometimes my director switches me to Soprano 2, other times, he just has me shut up and play piano razz For this upcoming spring concert so far I've chosen to play All that Jazz on piano!
