Crimson Sea

It hurts so much. It hurts so deeply. I had no idea how strongly I felt until I saw her again. I have no idea WHY these feelings just...came over me. But they did...and so suddenly. I fear that I've scared her. I fear that she'll never want to be near me again. She likes HIM more, I just know it, because I can see it in her eyes. He's much more interesting and fun...than the likes of me.

It's so sad and pathetic. I have no idea why I thought I even stood a chance in her eyes. She's so...she's...She's not going to love me. I know this already. It just never occured to me. I can't provide for her what she needs. What she wants...I'm useless. I can't even fly quickly to run errands for her. Why did I even think...?

I've decided. I need to do something about this. I'm bleeding so much right now, so what's a little more going to do? This is my punishment for bothering her so much lately. It's my punishment for interupting her life.

I know LF has a razor or something around here...

Caught Red Handed...and Then Some

Diary,

Well, LF caught me. Yes, I had already figured that she would. I hoped she would. I really didn't think she wouldn't notice her razor missing, but I hadn't counted on it being so hard to get at. It was wedged beneath her shaving gel, which was so hard to lift. Finally, I just gave up, and flew to her, bleeding and everything.

She was distraught, which made me happy. Even though I hurt myself as much as I could without the razor, it felt good to be scolded and worried about. I suppose I could expect nothing less of her, since she has done nothing but worry and watch over me ever since we met.

I'm bandaged now, and I realized that now would be a good opportunity to test my herbal medicines and pastes. The first few I made were no good, as all the did was sting. My latest batch of medicinal paste, though, worked like it was supposed to. It was made with aloe vera and cammomile, so it was soothing and cooling. It made me slightly proud of myself. I actually did something right this time.

I got a decent lecture about hurting myself from LF, but she told me that I wasn't in real trouble. After I told her what happened, anyway. She told me that sometimes feelings of anger and despair well up and overwhelm her, too, so I didn't feel so alone in this.

I'll just sleep for awhile. I've very tired now.

Lack of Sympathy
Neruo
The orange Feien floated slowly out to the fence dividing Ruya's backyard from Silva's. He was covered in white gauze, and some red peeked through to the top. Neruo paid no mind to it. He had slept a few hours before and couldn't help but think about what he had done in her presence. He had to apologize.

But was she here?

He finally made it to the fence and sat. The blood loss made him a tad weak, but he didn't care. He looked around for Ruya...

Silva
He had had to get out of the house. Ice had been so freakin cheerful about this so-called summonday that he hadn't gotten any peace. He hadn't even been able to workout. He was sitting on the porch chewing on his toothpick and contemplating how to talk to Ruya.

I haven't been around because I went to another dimension where I met this cold sonofabitch who I'm not sure, but might be me...

He snorted, then jerked as he caught sight of the bandage wrapped feien sitting on his fence. He stood, shouting. "Hey! Orange boy!"

It just... figured. He thought, his teeth gritting as he crossed the yard. The moment he skipped out another would take his place. Just like that smoking b*****d had said.

Neruo
Neruo blinked and looked up tiredly. He spotted...yes, Silva. The burgandy one. He wondered what he had been up to, since it had been a while since their last meeting. He mustered up a smile and waved.

...Then he realized that waving to him may not have had the effect it would on other Feien. But it's not like it mattered now anyway. He folded his wings and sat down on the fence, watching the dark one.

Silva
He scowled as he saw the other feien wave. Cocky b*****d... He stopped, wondering why that didn't sound right, then shrugged, levitating up to the fence and standing on it so he could look at Neruo more closely. The smell of blood was almost overwhelming.

"What the hell happened to you?" He asked, not even thinking. Looked like the kid had had a worse night then he had, and he had almost been killed. Twice.

Neruo
Neruo leaned back and looked up. Not lazily, just...he was exhausted from the sheer loss of blood during his...episode. He watched Silva with hazy gray eyes before leaning forward again. He scratched at one of the bandages, which caused the crimson beneath to envelope more of the white gauze.

"I happened to me." he said lowly, simply. "Why would you care?"

Silva
"I don't." He replied simply, shrugging. "Just thought you had had a run in with a lawn mower or something. Might have been entertaining to hear about." He stopped, scowling as he realized how much he sounded like the stranger.

"So you cut yourself..." He stated after a few seconds. He examined his toothpick. He understood being self-destructive, but something pissed him off about giving into it that easily. "How'd it feel?"

Neruo
Neruo chuckled, feeling the dull pain of his cuts throb with his movement. "A lawnmower...that would be much more entertaining, I think."

He stood up finally, removing the bandages. They all fell at his feet, rvealing wounds of various sizes and depths, some of which were still fresh and glistening in the sunlight.

"It felt...very good." he said finally. "Much more satisfying as punishment than anything I could ever dream of..." He smiled. He was very happy, but he wasn't sure why.

Silva
Silva stared for a few minutes, then snorted. "You're ******** up, kid. More then I am, even." He sat, leaning back lazily. "You like being punished?"

He thought about that for a few minutes. It was kind of like his obsession with weight lifting. Except his weightlifting just left him sore. This, though... this could wind up killing the kid. "You're suicidal." He finally announced, as if making a statement of a fact.

Neruo
Neruo shrugged. "From you, I'll take that as a compliment." He plucked one of his feathers from his wing, examining it. Suicidal? No, never. That was too easy. Hovering on the brink of death may be an option, but not now. He hadn't done anything to warrent a punishment such as that.

"I'm not suicidal. This won't kill me. I may bleed, but I won't die. I punish myself because...it's the only kind of punishment that I feel is enough."

He sat down, breaking the feather in half. "Don't you do something to punish yourself? I'm sure you do..."

Silva
"There's something. But I don't do it to punish myself. I do it for the rush." He smirked. "And it's something my bondmate doesn't have to wrap me up like a mummy for. Hell, she even encourages it."

He watched the other feien for a few seconds, the smell of blood getting to him in a strange way. "It's not as messy, either. Ruya hates messy, you know." It was low. He knew it was low, but if the kid kept coming over smelling like blood he wouldn't be able to help himself. He liked to kill things, after all.

Neruo
"I was initially wrapping myself," he said absently, "but my bondamte decided to take over the task herself. And yes, it is messy, but I clean up well." He decided to do just that. He looked around for a water source and saw a puddle in the corner of Ruya's backyard. He figured she wouldn't mind if he cleaned up and floated down to it, washing the dried blood off of his orange form.

When he was finshed, only the cuts themselves were visible. There was no longer any blood caked on him, and he flew back up to the fence to collect the bandages. He chuckled.

"She hates messy? I can see why she uses a dropcloth, then." He started to fold the bandages. "You are a clean one, then, I assume?"

Silva
"Messy has its moments." He replied, shrugging. It was better now, he didn't feel the blood lust as strongly. "But when I'm done I burn. Sometimes I can't even breathe. Hell of a lot more painful then a cut would be."

It was a morbid conversation, he thought, amused for some reason. "So tell me, kid. Why'd you need to be punished?" If it was Ruya then maybe he would offer to punish the other male for him.

Neruo
"What one person may find painful," Neruo said, tracing one of his cuts, "another may find soothing." They didn't hurt anymore, surprisingly. The medicine he had concocted did its job. He stretched and sat down again, his gray eyes wandering off.

"I just figured that it was best to punish myself for wasting Ruya's time, since she seems to be oh so enthralled with you. Why take time away from her busy schedule to chat with me when she could be doing fun, exciting things with you? Wouldn't you agree....Silva?"

Silva
Silva blinked. THAT was the kid's grief? He couldn't help himself, he growled. "Look, kid, I just spent the weekend with a psychopath in a godforsaken jungle listening to him discuss, oh-so-calmly, how long it would take for me to get killed. And you think a female is worth this?"

He waved, indicating the scars on the other male's body. "You know, you're right. Stay the hell away from my Ruya. But not because you're boring, kid. She probably thinks you're refeshing after a cold-blooded b*****d like me. But because you're too much of a coward to be friends with her." His eyes were slitted, a cold, vicious look in them that he hadn't ever let another feien see before.

"You want to be punished? You can damn well come to me for that. I'd be happy to rip your heart out. But if you're willing to let some misconception do it to you then you aren't HALF the man I took you for." He smirked, a vicious smile that spoke of a hard life. Strange to see in one that young. "And I don't like to be wrong."

Neruo
Neruo tilted his head. Such an outburst. A man...smoking? In a jungle? Exactly where had Silva been? But he was making a good point. He hadn't considered that angle yet.

"When did you go to the jungle?" It was off-topic, yes, but he was curious. After a moment of silence, he became serious.

"Yes, you have a very valid point. It does seem like cowardice now that I think about it that way. To tell you the truth, I wasn't really thinking at all. It happens sometimes, and even to you, I'm sure." He folded his arms, looking straight at Silva.

"Then it's settled. You won't be proven wrong, Silva. I won't stay away from 'your' Ruya. Consider my lapse in judgement a brief opportunity for you, which you may or may not have wasted already."

He smirked.

Silva
Well... s**t. Silva jerked from his rage, blinking as he realized what he had just said, and worse, what reaction he had just gotten. "Forget about the jungle. It didn't happen." He said, backtracking mentally for a few minutes.

"Dammit, kid, has anyone ever told you what a pain in the a** you were?" He finally muttered, examining his toothpick. "I knew there was a reason I disliked male feien. Serve you right if the widow idea was true..." He muttered the last under his breath before turning serious again.

"Fine. But if I find out you've kissed my girl you'll find yourself a lot more bloody then you are now. And not in the good way."

Neruo
Neruo couldn't help but smile. Heck, it was a full on grin. "A pain in the a**?" he repeated. It made sense, he supposed, especially to a Feien like him. This was far too amusing.

"I assume that no one has told you the same thing? And besides, I assure you, I haven't kissed 'your girl'. You can even ask her if you don't believe me." He leaned back on one of the fence's posts, smiling.

Was his attitude that annoying? Maybe this was a good thing. The threat was what made his resolve stronger.

He unfurled his wings and hovered in the air. He started to drift in the direction of home when he said over his shoulder,

"Let's hope the widow doesn't get you first."

The orange one then made his way home. He had much to think about.

Silva
Silva sat there for a few more minutes, scowling as the other male flew away. Dammit, he hadn't wanted to cheer the b*****d up! Much less encourage him to keep chasing after Ruya!!

After a few minutes he snorted, shrugging it off and heading for the house. It felt good just to be alive.

Strange Things Afoot
Neruo
Neruo, fresh from a bath, floated outside and into Ruya's backyard. He carried with him one of his paintings. He worked very hard on it, and wished to give it to Ruya for being such a jerk the last time they met. He stopped and lit on the fence to check the coin purse he carried with him. Inside was a small gemstone he found while rummaging through LF's things. His bondmate let him have it.

He fixed his hair and floated along to the back porch.

This'll be fun, I think...

The orange one flew towards it, his ears picking up strange sounds. Moaning? Panting? Was someone in pain? He flew quickly closer, seeing Ruya and Silva...doing interesting things.

He couldn't help but turn slightly pink. He felt embarassed for them. He chuckled, standing up straight.

"I see that you're quite busy, Ruya. I can come back another time, if you wish..."

Ruya
Ruya's head jerked up and she flushed, turning a bright red as she scrambled away from Silva.

"Neruo. Hi..."

Ruya stood and coughed, unsure why she had done that. So what if she was with Silva when Neruo showed up? She couldn't bring herself to sit back down though, so she just looked between Neruo and Silva helplessly.

Silva
Silva sat up lazily, still in a good mood from the snogging, as well as amused at the fact that the kid had walked in. There wasn't a better way to show who the guy in control was, after all.

"Orange boy. Need any... punishing lately?" He asked, sprawling slightly as he reached out to find his toothpick.

Neruo
Neruo smirked. That was certainly one thing he hadn't been expecting, but he'd roll with it just fine anyway. He noticed the painting on the floor and bent to pick it up. He kept it rolled, in case Ruya had dropped it on the way to some other place before she was...distracted.

He nonchalantly walked up to Ruya, handing her the gemstone which he had in the coin purse. He watched Silva from the corner of his eye, but wasn't threatened by him at all. He explained.

"Consider it a gift of apology. I was very rude the other day. I wanted to tell you that I'm sorry, and that I'm alright."

He turned his head to Silva. "No, I'm in no need of punishment today, thank you. And besides, you seem preoccupied."

Ruya
Ruya took the gemstone without protest and glanced at Silva before she spoke.

"Thank you. You didn't need to apologize, but I'm glad you're alright."

She hung her head a little, feeling guilt settle into her stomach, and mumbled.

"The painting is for you. I was going to bring it over and make sure you were alright."

((The painting.))

Silva
"Well, I was preoccupied, but you just ruined the mood." Silva replied, scowling at the sight of Ruya accepting the gift. In his mind it meant that she now owed the other male. He didn't like that. But he shrugged it off. She had given him a painting, after all.

"So what do we do now, sit around and chat?" He snorted, finding the idea amusing.

Neruo
Neruo unfurled his other gift to her. A painting he did, which took him a few days. He was very proud of it. Minimal mess with maximal effort. He liked it. He handed it to her gingerly and walked to the edge of the porch to sit.

"I wouldn't mind chatting, but this is Ruya's porch, so I think she should decide."

((The painting.))

Ruya
Ruya took the painting eagerly, wanting to see Neruo's art.

"Thank you Neruo," she said as she looked at it. "I'm so happy you painted me something. I find it hard to show other people my art, so this means a lot to me."

She rolled the painting back up and placed it behind her with the gem and her rapier. Then she turned and reached out as if to hug Neruo before getting a good look at him.

She stopped short and her mouth dropped open, her arms dropping to her side. How could she have not noticed before this? She had been too busy worrying about herself.

"What happened?"

She reached out and gently traced a cut on his torso with her finger.

Silva
Silva gritted his teeth, his good mood suddenly gone as he watched Ruya almost hug the other male. Then she ran a hand, tracing the cut that the b*****d had inflicted on hismelf. He couldn't help it, he spoke.

"Yeah, kid. Tell her what happened. Tell her why it wasn't a lawnmower what did it."

Neruo
Neruo watched her fingers trace one of the deepest cuts on his chest and sighed. It felt...good. No wonder why Silva so enjoyed physical pleasure. He tugged at one of his curls.

"It's nothing to worry about. Really. I'm all disinfected, so there's nothing to worry about..."

Why did she have to see me like this? It is better, though, than having her see me bleed like some chewed up toy...

Ruya
"How do you -" Ruya bit back what she was going to say to Silva. How and what he knew about this were unimportant. She didn't think he had been the one to cause Neruo pain, so there was no reason to be angry at him.

"Being disinfected once isn't enough, you'll have to stay clean until they're fully closed," she murmured, distracted.

She crossed her arms over her chest and looked at Neruo with a sigh.

"Disinfected or not, what happened to you?"

Silva
He blinked, wondering if she had suspected him of doing it. But she knew he didn't cut. He had a blade, but he used his chain as a weapon. She knew that as well as he did... right? Silva shrugged it off, wondering if the b*****d would lie. It would be easy enough to blame Silva for his wounds.

He didn't think te kid was stupid enough to do that, though. Not with him stand-er sitting there. He said nothing, watching the orange male with a predatorial look.

Neruo
Neruo chuckled and put the coin purse down. He stretched and sighed, his orange curls bobbing with his movement.

"Again, I tell you that it is unimportant. And as Silva mentioned, it was not a lawnmower, although that would have been quite a bit more entertaining..."

He looked at her again. That answer would not be enough. He didn't want to worry her further by denying anything.

"I cut myself. But please don't worry about it. It was a sudden lapse in judgement, and I guarantee that it will never happen again."

Ruya
"You did this to yourself?"

Ruya just looked at Neruo in disbelief.

"I don't understand. I don't understand at all, but I'm glad you're alright."

She bit her lip, again thinking about herself. What on earth would all three of them talk about? It was clear the two males didn't really get along.

She spoke finally, her curiousity warring with her common sense.

"I'm not being a very good hostess. Would anyone like something to eat or drink?"

Silva
"I wouldn't mind a drink, darlin." Silva said, not moving from where he was watching Neruo. He had something he wanted to talk to the other male about, suddenly. And he didn't have a problem with using deception to keep her from hearing. "Water will do."

Neruo
Neruo smiled. "Water would be fine for me too, please. Thank you." He nodded and sat down, watching Silva curiously.

Ruya
Ruya nodded and headed into the house through the kitchen window. Water was actually a bit of a difficult task. She could get it from the sink and risk drenching herself or try and figure out how to get it out of the Brita in the fridge that she could even budge.

After some thought Ruya decided perhaps Kam would be the best option and headed farther into the house and up the stairs.

"Kam?"

Silva
When she was out of sight Silva turned, looking at Neruo through heavy lidded eyes. "You know what she asked me tonight, kid? She asked me if she ever made me feel bad about myself."

He paused, waiting for that question to sink in before he went on. "She was worried that because you screwed up that somehow it was her fault. Now I'm not going to lie, I don't give a flying rat's a** about most of the people I've met, including--no, ESPECIALLY you. But I don't like what you're doing to my girl with this."

Neruo
Neruo shrugged, holding his head in his hands, watching the other. "I told her, and you, that it was finished. I told her that I did to to myself. When she comes back, I'll tell her know that she played no real part in it, and that she shouldn't feel bad. What more do you want me to do? I didn't mean for it to hurt her. Did you really think it was my intention to cause her pain?"

Silva
"I honestly don't know what to think, kid. Maybe you telling her that will help, maybe it won't. But you had better keep your word, kid, or I'll make sure that you can never hurt her again." He sat back, wondering where Ruya had gotten to.

"Think she needs help?"

Neruo
"I will keep my word, Silva." he said seriously. He hadn't been this serious since...never. He sighed and stood, offering a hand to Silva.

"We best see if the little lady needs our manly assistance." He chuckled.

Ruya
"Sure. Anytime."

Kam made her way back out of the kitchen as Ruya took two tiny feien sized cups, one in each hand and floated towards the window.

"Drinks," she said while she watched one cup and then the other, "are ready."

She made her way down to the porch and grinned at both of the males.

"I'm going to make a wonderful waitress."

Silva
"I offered her my 'manly assistance' once and she very politely told me where to shove it." Silva replied, taking the drink from Ruya and waiting for her to sit down next to him. He blinked at the waitress comment.

"Waitress, darlin? I don't remember anything about that..." HAD she told him? He shrugged, thinking if she had he would have remembered...

Neruo
Neruo stretched again, his wings beating a few times to release loose feathers. He walked up to Ruya and took his water, sipping it down. He then placed the glass on the porch, taking up his coin purse. He smiled to her.

"Thank you very much for the water, and I apologize for my intrusion." He chuckled, remembering her reaction. He shrugged it off mentally, and leaned in close to her. He whispered softly into her ear.

"Don't worry about me, alright?" He lightly brushed a kiss on her cheek before taking to the air and floating off.

Ruya
Oh dear. Whispering in her ear, kissing her cheek? Neruo was encroaching on Silva territory.

Ruya sighed and looked at Silva with a smile.

"I'm going to waitress at the tavern. Neruo is a bartender there. And I think I'd better head inside when you're done with that water. This has been a busy day."

Silva
He nodded stiffly, gulping down the water before standing and handing her the cup. He nudged her chin with his forefinger, looking into her eyes. "Wash that cheek, darlin." He stated, taking his hand away and turning and leaving.

"I'll see you later."

Ruya
"Bye."

Ruya sighed and watched Silva go before heading back into the house with an odd look on her face.

Interesting...

Well, I went over to Ruya's to apologize for my behavior the other day. I made her a painting and LF gave me a small gemstone from one of her old rings to give to Ruya as well. I headed over there and...well..."caught" woudn't necessarily be the appropriate word for it, but I found them kissing and such on the front porch.

Though I don't really mind it too much, Ruya was quite embarassed, which leads me to believe that she might in fact have feelings for me still. Or she was just embarassed to be found doing something like that, but still. I like my first theory much better.

I've taken up painting on the windowsill whilst LF tries the same in the living room. I have to say that I'm very glad I have more patience than her. At her rate, she'd never finish anything...

I plan to visit Ruya more, to make her consider me and think of me like she does Silva. But, I have to admit, I'm nothing like him, which may or may not score me extra points.

Another one?
Ruya & Co.
Ruya and Sunil were still in Kam's bedroom as night fell. Ruya was sitting by the open window with her feet dangling off the edge, staring morosely at the neighborhood and Sunil was up on the bed jumping rope with a piece of string given to her by Kam for that purpose.

"I'm sorry I'm so bummed," Ruya muttered to Rishi, who was curled up around her. "It just really hurt."

"Are you whining again?" Sunil yelled from the bed, almost losing count.

Neruo
LF opened the window at her house to let Neruo out. "You sure you want to go at this time of night?" she asked, worried. He'd never asked to leave the house at night before.

"Yes, I'm sure, and you don't need to worry." The orange one said calmly. His wounds were almost completely gone, and he had plenty of energy. He wanted to get out of the house.

He took to the air as LF waved to him. He waved back and fluttered off to see Ruya. He'd been confined to the house for a while, and his first order of business on his first night out was to see...her.

Ruya & Co.
"She is so insufferable," Ruya continued whispering to Rishi, "What was I thinking making her my friend?"

Rishi yawned, but didn't reply.

Up on the bed Sunil got bored and dropped the string, bouncing off the bed and wandering over to Ruya and Rishi. She stood beside them and looked out the window.

"Looking for your ex?" She said snidely.

"No, now go away." Ruya waved a hand at Sunil imperiously.

Sunil squinted out the window and laughed.

"There is a feien approaching."

Ruya looked up at Sunil, startled.

Neruo
A bright orange Feien floated lazily on the soft breeze. He caught a glimpse of Ruya...and that blue Feien! The one that beat up on Calico at the shop! Well, she wasn't going to stop him, so he kept flying towards the window.

He finally arrived, floating just beyond the windowsill. He smiled brightly and waved to Ruya. He noticed that she did not seem well, and became concerned.

"Are you alright?" he asked quietly. "You seem...troubled."

Ruya & Co.
Sunil looked back and forth from Neruo to Ruya and laughed out loud.

"Another one? I don't know why you were so upset if you have another one."

She turned and walked towards the door, still laughing.

"I'll be back."

Ruya blushed and stood, backing away from the windowsill so Neruo would have some place to land. She ignored Sunil and replied to Neruo's question.

"Come in, come in. I'm alright." She tried to be happy, but it didn't really succeed. Her face fell and she admitted, "No, actually I'm not. Silva and I broke up."

Neruo
Neruo watched Sunil leave, wondering what she meant by 'another one'. He didn't consider himself Ruya's...significant other. At least, not in reality. He saw he face droop and sighed, landing and walking over to her. He brushed some of her hair from her face, concerned.

"I didn't know you two were a real item, but...I'm terribly sorry. LF told me that things like that hurt. Is there anything I can do to cheer you up?"

He plucked a feather from his wing. Perhaps tickling would be best?

Ruya & Co.
Ruya teared up and put her arms around Neruo, burying her face in his shoulder.

"I thought we were, but I'm starting to think I was the only one who did."

She tried to stop crying, sniffling a little. It was rude of her to be like this when he had come to visit.

"I'm sorry. Its just, I dumped him and I think it ended up hurting me more than him."

Neruo
Neruo tilted his head, gently wiping away one of her stray tears with his finger. He smiled gently. "It's alright. I'm not one to know how things like these really work, but I'm terribly sorry it hurt you so much."

He carefully hugged her again, rubbing her back. "It's alright. Everything will be alright..."

Ruya & Co.
Ruya stepped back and gave him a halfhearted smile.

"Thanks. It is nice to hear someone say that."

She stepped back and sat on one of her makeshift beanbag chairs.

"So how have you been Neruo?"

Neruo
Neruo smiled and sat where he was. He played with one of his curls while he spoke.

"I've been alright. LF had me on house arrest for a while after leaving without telling her. Now I'm out on good behavior." He chuckled. "I decided that the first order of business on my 'to-do' list was to come see you."

He folded his wings. He forgot to bring her something! He silently kicked himself. At least she was glad to see me.

"I did not know you lived with that blue Feien. Last I saw her, she was beating on Calico in the shop...very rude. Is she mean to you?"

Ruya & Co.
"I'm glad you came to see me. I needed some cheering up."

Preeti came out from under the bed and curled around Neruo, looking for attention. Half her tail was singed off, so she looked a little odd but that didn't deter the siamese pixacat.

Ruya laughed at the question about Sunil.

"She is probably listening outside the door."

A muffled sound was heard from outside the room and Ruya looked smug.

"That is Sunil and yes I live with her. She used to be mean," Ruya was thoughtful for a moment, "and she still is, but I think she has mellowed a little. We're ... friends now."

Neruo
Neruo chuckled and picked up the singed Pixacat, scratching behind her ears. LF did not have anything this small around the house, but she did get something called a 'Jelly' earlier today. Perhaps, when it arrives, Ruya could meet it?

"I'm glad I could help, and I am glad that you and...Sunil are friends now. I wouldn't want you to live with someone who was mean to you."

Ruya & Co.
Ruya shrugged, "I don't have much of a choice. We're both bonded to Kam, so I'm kinda stuck with Sunil whether I like it or not."

Ruya looked down at her hands and softly continued.

"Part of why I talked to Silva, although not the whole reason, was because of you."

She flushed, feeling odd admitting this to him.

Neruo
Neruo watched her quietly as he pet the cat in his lap. Because of him? Was this a good ting or a bad thing...?

"I do hope I haven't done anything wrong. I mean, I hope that I did not contribute to your sadness."

His wings twitched nervously. Was this all his fault?

Ruya & Co.
"No, it isn't your fault that I'm sad. Or that I dumped him."

Ruya leaned over and picked up a piece of lint of the floor and looked it over.

"You just made me think about some things."

She tossed the piece of lint back on the floor and looked up at Neruo.

"I wondered what it would be like to be with you instead." She shrugged still blushing. "We have more in common than Silva and I do."

Neruo
Neruo smiled. His mind was racing, but his body didn't seem to react nearly as much. He was determined, and he would be strong and steady for her. He stood up, placing the Pixacat on the floor, and offered a hand to Ruya.

"All I can promise is that I'll do my best to make you happy. I don't want to see you so sad anymore. It breaks my heart."

Ruya & Co.
Ruya shook her head and sighed, ignoring his hand.

"I'm still upset about Silva."

She looked up at him and crossed her arms over her chest.

"I just wanted to tell you and have it out in the open, but I'm not ready to jump into something."

Neruo
Neruo retracted his arm and crossed them, watching her. He nodded, understanding that it took time to get over these kinds of things. He sat down again, grateful that she had told him these things.

"That's perfectly understandable. I need to do some research myself. I must prepare in case you do want...to be...with me." He blushed uncontrollably. It was amusing, actually. Such a calm exterior...usually.

Ruya & Co.
"Research?" Ruya asked curiously. What sort of research would one do before getting into a relationship?

Neruo
Neruo smiled. "LF told me a little bit about what it is like to be in a relationship with someone. She has someone as well, so I think she would be a good source. And other things I need to catch up on, too, like manners and such..."

He began to count on his fingers. How many books did he need to read? And how many of them would make up for the real experience? He decided to read only some of them, figuring that experience was better than book knowledge.

"I wouldn't want to disappoint you." He chuckled quietly.

Ruya & Co.
Ruya had to stop herself from laughing out loud, which would have been rather cruel. Neruo meant well. She leaned forward and took one of Neruo's hands in her own.

"Neruo, relationships in general are about feelings not facts. You can't learn how to be good at them by reading books. You could never disappoint me if you just follow what you feel."

A muffled snicker could be heard from outside the bedroom door. It wasn't clear whether it was feien or pixapet in origin, but Ruya shot the door a dirty look.

Neruo
Neruo nodded, glad that she knew more about these things than he did.

"I think you're right, Ruya...If I just do what feels right, then I won't have any regrets."

He watched the door curiously, smiling. "Is your Feien friend eavesdropping?"

Ruya & Co.
Ruya gave the door another look before replying.

"Either her or some of the pixapets. I apologize for how rude my housemates are being."

She sighed facing Neruo, and took his other hand, so she was holding both of them.

"I'm sorry to do this to you Neruo, but I'm pretty worn out."

She leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek.

"You can stay if you want, sleep over on another one of Kam's throw pillows."

Neruo
Neruo smiled and hugged her, standing up.

"It's not a problem. In fact, I find your housemates to be quite entertaining."

He walked over to the window, leaning on the sill.

"Since you're tired, perhaps I should leave? Unless...you want me to stay?"

Ruya & Co.
Ruya followed him to the window and blushed a little, having startled herself by offering to let him stay.

"Oh no, I just thought since it was so late you might prefer flying home in the morning."

What if Silva saw Neruo leaving in the morning? But who cared what Silva thought?

"Entirely up to you. We could always watch a movie or something before bed. I'm sure Kam would be happy to have company, but I am tired."

She shrugged, showing how much the decision didn't matter to her.

Neruo
Neruo chuckled and brushed some of the hair from her face. "I think I should go. Besides, LF will want to know where I've been, and you look very tired. You've had a long day. You deserve some rest."

He fixed his curly hair and jumped onto the sill of the wondow, waving back to her.

"If you'd like, I'll come back and visit you sometime soon. And perhaps...bring you something to cheer you up."

The orange one then dove from the window, catching the warm, late-night breeze. He drifted off in the direction of home, happy.

Ruya & Co.
Ruya waved to Neruo as he left until he disappeared into the night. Then she sighed and turned back to find Sunil watching her from the doorway. She started to tell the older woman to mind her own business when Sunil spoke.

"Workout in the morning. Be ready." Sunil smiled and turned to walk back out the door and down the stairs.

Ruya shrugged and started to get ready for bed.

I don't think I'll ever be able to live the 'research' comment down. Oh well. I am not well-educated in such an area, so I figured that reading up on it would help. But I suppose not.

I wonder what a relationship will be like, though. LF and Darke are very happy. I hope that, if Ruya decides to choose me...I hope that she'll be happy.

Watermelon?

9/06/04

And strange new creature arrived today. I was in a box all its own, with a jungle and a tent. It was a small, green egg, which LF kept calling 'David'. Very strange. She told me that it was a watermelon Jelly, and that it was small like a Pixapet. She declared me as its primary caretaker, since she could not get ahold of a Pixapet.

I must say that this little thing is awfully...cute.

And, for some strange reason, it keeps getting UPS boxes the size of a matchbox delivered to it. I'm still not certain exactly how this happens, but it is quite entertaining.

LF and Darke were up all night playing video games again. I watched them closely this time, trying to take notes as to how to treat a lady, but all I decerned was this: each lady is different...and one's treatment of a lady must change for each individual. It makes me wonder what Ruya would like. I do hope she's not upset anymore.

I'll go over again and see her. I'll bring David, too, to see what she thinks.

Lazy Daze...But...

9/14/04 -

Wow. It's been awhile, hasn't it? LF and I both got struck with a fit of laziness. I felt horrible, seeing as I wanted to go and see Ruya, but...I got lazy. Not that it had anything to do with her, it's just...well, you know. Laziness. It's terrilble, but it felt so good.

LF took me into Barton Town the other day, where I overheard talk of an old alchemist in the woods by the name of Redix. He supposedly lives somewhere near us. Although I wasn't sure what an alchemist was, I decided that I would go and check it out.

When we came back to the house, I waited until LF and the others were asleep, I flew out the window to plot a course for later. I'm not the fastest thing, mind you. It took me all of four hours to find this guy's cottage. It was deep within some magical woods, I think. At first, all it seemed to be was a small clearing, but the house was hidden my illusionary magic. I picked up a small pebble from the forest floor and threw it.

To my surprise, it stuck to something! It floated in midair! Then, the illusion dropped like a cloak and reveal the cottage. Redix's home. I quickly jotted down my route and flew back, seeing that the dawn was coming...

A World Without Logos

9/15/04 -

LF is now officially obsessed. She's constantly playing some sort of odd jazz/rock song from something she calls 'Hellsing'. I'm not entirely sure what they're singing about, but she adores it. It's bringing out more of her real nature, too, I think. I recently discovered exactly what she really is.

She tries to hide it as well as she can, and she does a wonderful job...most of the time. I suppose one can only supress one's true self for a certain amount of time.

I woke up from a fitful sleep the other night to see her sneaking out. I didn't think she could stay up so late, but I stayed awak until her return, knowing I wasn't fast enough to follow her anyway. She returned about three hours later, bloodsoaked and stainded. I could see clearly in the moonlit doorway that her face and limbs were soaked and her eyes were wild. She was breathing heavily, and dragged in the arm of a very muscular person behind her. I heard her quickly consume it in the kitchen and proceed to clean up after herself.

I flitted back to my bed, hoping she wouldn't see me. She told me before that she was ashamed of what she was. I wouldn't tell anyone...hopefully.

Alchemist's Lore

9/20/04

I finally set out to do what I had decided to do so many days ago. I've concluded that I shall venture out on my own tomorrow night, without food, water, or supplies. I want to see how far I can get. I especially would like to meet this alchemist whose cottage I somewhat accidentally discovered a week or so ago. Lu is busy plotting for her summonday, so her attention will be stretched thin enough so that I may leave without her noticing.

I want to learn from Redix. I want to know all about alchemy, it's properties and uses, and how I can put it to good use. I heard that alchemists can turn lead into gold. Perhaps I can expand on that theory?

In other household news, that strange Jelly somehow got some ice cream and a robot. I think it's hell bent on making it do its gelatinous biding, which may or may not be good.

Adventure....Begin!

9/21/04

I'm carrying you with me, journal, since I want to document everything the alchemist may tell me. You and the quill are the only things I'm taking with me. ...Which reminds me: why do you refer to you as 'you'? I'll figure that out later.

I left early this morning, and decided to leave a note for Lu, in case she spazzed out, popped a vein somewhere and had some sort of paranoid seizure. It went like this:

Lu,
I'm leaving for the forest. Don't spazz. Clean up any blood resulting from any burst...anything. Be back soon.

Simplicity is best, no?

So, I found my way in the morning light to the alchemist's cottage. He didn't bother to recloak it, which is very good for me. It was a quaint little thing, made of archaic stone and hay. It was nice, and I rather liked it as compared to the buildings in town. There was smoke coming from the small stone chimney. He was home, so I floated to the window to take a peek.

Redix was a short, stocky and unshaven man, bent over some large iron pot, which was boiling. That caused the smoke. I coughed a little to grab his attention, but he didn't notice. I coughed again and he turned around, his eyes as big as dinner plates behind these strange glasses. He looked at me for a second or two before doing something I thought only Lu could pull off.

He spazzed out and dove behind the pot.

"You'll NEVAH take me alive, LUCIFER! Not even your ORANGE MINION will scare the likes of me!" he cried over the pot. He held up a strange-looking vial filled with a thick green liquid.

To quote Lu: "What the crap?"

Redix, with his large green dinner plates, peeked over the side of the cauldron. He tried to be menacing, but I felt sorry for him. Scared of something as small as I. I floated slowly over to him as he backed into a corner. I stopped, midair, in case he decided to flee. He held up his arms, pleading.

"Don't KEEL me, PLEASE!" he cried, his brown hair shaking as he trembled.

I had to laugh. "I'm not here to hurt anyone." I explained. "I'm jst here to learn. You're an alchemist, right? Perhaps you could teach me about potions and such?"

He carefully stood up, adjusting his giant glasses. He pondered over me for a second before offering out his hand. I was too small to shake it, so I instead landed on it. He was shocked by this.

"You are HUGE! And yet...you do not crush my hand and you sit on it! How?!"

I looked up at him. "Perhaps...it's your glasses?"

The brawny man blinked and removed the aforementioned spectacles and stared down at me. My, how surprised he was to find that I was much smaller than I appeared through those lenses! He laughed heartily and smiled, putting me down gently at his wooden worktable. Upon it sat three or for large textx, several empty vials and mounds of plant matter. One of the books sat open. I read the title.

"Stink Bombs with Dirt - Made Easy!"

Was this what alchemy was all about? What about the gold from lead? I inquired about this. Redix chuckled and righted his overturned stool, sitting upon it to examine me further. I think he liked my markings. I was rather proud of them.

"Well, since you came such a long way, little orange one, I'll teach you some things about my work. It may be difficult to teach one so small, though, but...I need something DIFFICULT!"

He stretched and opened up another book.

The gruff man stood again, pacing with the large book in his hands. He flipped through the pages quickly, trying to find a suitable task for one so small. He decided against jumping into alchemy so soon, and instead chose to delve into the less complicated practice of potion-making. He cleared his wooden work desk and set down some empty vials.

I already knew about making healing potions from herbs. That was simple in and of itself. I explained to him how I made my potions as he took notes. Curious, I thought, that a man with so much knowledge would take notes from an ameteur like myself. He smiled, putting down his quill.

He leaned over and picked up a large, black metal box. Opening it slowly, he removed what looked like a glowing red pebble. He turned around, dipping the empty vial into a tub of water on another table. When filled, he returned it to the desk, placing several plants inside before the red stone.

"Stand back, orange one! This'll be a DOOZY!" he exclaimed cheerfully and threw in the stone. It caused a rumble in the ground, knocking him off his stool. I floated away from the table to avoid any flying matter, even though none ultimately came. The potion glowed brightly with red fumes and gold flecks. I asked what it was.

"This, my boy, is a special bomb-potion. Makes the biggest, thickets red smoke you can imagine. Great for escape, and GREAT for giant red stink bombs! You need this fire stone, though, which you can mine from volcanos...or in other warm places. Neat, huh?"

A firey red smoke bomb? Luckily, I learned it didn't actually hurt anyone. I might make this, just for fun. I quickly jotted down more notes about it and the location of such a stone required. He opened up the metal box again and withdrew a green and purple stone, which too glowed like the crimson one.

"Now for the earth and soul stones...They make the best warp and quake potions!"

Does this man have an appetite for destruction?

"Soul stone for a warp potion? You can do that?" I asked, regarding the swirling purple stone in his hand. It was the same small size as the red, except it seemed to give off a must more...muted vibration. Redix chuckled heartily.

"Of course! How do you think non-mages get around? CARS?" His brilliant white teeth flashed as he grinned, explaining furthur. "Some of us don't have the money or the desire for one of those contraptions. I prefer this! It's much more...natural. And plus, there's no threat of physical injury with this baby!"

He opened up another empty vial, but did not fill this one with water. Instead, he poured out a thick, green liquid from on of the marked vials on the top shelf and began to crush the orchid stone in his hand. It appeared very solid, but instead was apparently very brittle. The pieces were ground into the vial, which the alchemist then shook furiously. The vial exploded with color and light, signalling its completion.

"Soul stones are found in graveyards, m'boy. Unless you wanna go on and frolic around dead people, you'll just have to walk! Or fly."

"I see. I'll have to investigate that. I'm not sure if I can learn to teleport the way most Feien do..." I stopped for a moment to take serious notes. Teleportation without the magical expenditure seemed worth while. I'd have to find a cemetary, but that was just one minor detail.

"No, the earth stones are found under century-old trees, and under great boulders. You break these babies in half, but ONLY after you've firmly secured your vial in this here vice-thinger." Redix explained and stood up with the empty vial, walking past a tray on the floor full of dirt. He took a handful of it, stuffing it in the vial, and clamped the vial in the vice.

"Stand back, laddie!" he instructed and fiercly broke the stone in half. It shook him violently before he could shove it through the opening of the tube. The vice then shook on the third table for a good minute or two before finally coming to a stop. The fire crackled in the silence before Redix cheered and clicked his heels.

"That's the second quake potion I've ever made!" he exclaimed triumphantly.

"What happened to your first?" I asked, taking further notes. Large, old trees...huge boulders...

"It...blew up my other house."

"Why only teach me to make potions? You are an alchemist, right? Why not teach me alchemy?"

"Alchemy is not a useful, or exact, science, if it could even be called that." Redix explained. "You said when you came here that you wanted to learn to make things to help people since you weren't adept in magic. Potions are faster and easier to create. Besides, some of them have cool swirly things inside them!"

The potion I created was what he held in his hands. The "swirlies" he was refering to were the remains of a golden stone we found in the garnen th day before. It was situated perfectly in the sun. It glowed with a golden light, and was pleasantly warm to the touch. We were not sure exactly what the potion did, but Redix let me use his lab to concoct it. I was very proud of myself. I wanted to take it home to show Lu.

"Now, since you'll be leaving soon," the hefty man said, "I'll give you an abridged version of all my notes." He stood up, putting the potion down and taking a book off the shelf. It was very thin and lightweight, but had a goo dnumber of pages within its leather bounds. He smiled and handed it to me.

"Inside, you'll find all the white-magic based potions, as well as new healing potions, warp potions, and how to create...whatever this is." He held up my special potion in reference. I gathered my quill, journal, and my new book (which was surprisingly small and easy enough for me to carry) and set out to the window. I had spent three days and nights here, learning about various potions and their properties and uses. But now it was time to go home.

I was excited to show Lu my new potion, as well as using what I had learned to warp her things around the house.

Redix smiled to me as I mounted the sill. He finished cleaning up the remnants of his wooden stool (a freak fire-potion accident) and waved to me. I waved back, recalling that he allowed me access to his library whenever I felt the need to stop by. I had to tell Lu about this place. I promised Redix to come back soon, and to write down exactly what my tiny vial of swirling black liquid did.

I then spread my wings to go home. I tied the potion to my waist using some string Redix gave to me. Its golden swirles shone brightly in the light.
