We were mostly playing Mordheim but I got him to look things over and everything is in order. I also explained the energy field to him with a lot of hand gestures and he said that something along those lines would okay as well. Welcome aboard sir! mrgreen

Some questions were asked about the energy shield, could you maybe provide a scan of the art in question?

I've been giving the combat rules a bit of a whirl and well, OH s**t DID I JUST BLOW THAT GUYS TORSO TO GIBS?!
sweatdrop
Yeah, I did a few rounds of a stock arbitrator versus several stock scum, both found in the back of the book. Combat is easy enough, once you get the hang of things. One guy was crit in the arm, his hand pulverized and all five fingers broken. Another was blown back in John Woo style when blasted in the torso and the last one had his head blow off like a melon or some other rotten fruit with lots of juices in them.
Holy. Crap.
They should've worn armour I guess. Carapace FTW!
I just need to figure out when to declare someone dead! I'm slowly getting there though.

Usually when a person reaches zero hits you can declare him dead.

The good sergeant explained it to me, a person doesn't die until the critical hit does so. And seeing as the bleeders don't happen until -5.. Keep on rolling!

Lt. Brookman The good sergeant explained it to me, a person doesn't die until the critical hit does so. And seeing as the bleeders don't happen until -5.. Keep on rolling! Viks is right though, for most of the speed bump enemies, just kill them at zero. Otherwise it makes for a night of entertaining but overly dramatic combat. Dx Stopping every few minuts to look up the gory effects of your shot starts to loose it's charm. There are of course situations where you want to use the crit table, say the party was rolling badly, and a particuarly easy enemy was giving them a run for their money? They'll want to see crazy s**t happen to him. =o

I thought you never wore pants when at home. But do tell, what's it all about and what good is it to us?

But yeah yeah yeah! It's a great resource on all things and then some. I bought it for the Adepta Sororitas career path but I was hooked when I found the new equipment lists and new world types, origins and ideas.

BAD VIKKI! scream
Examples? Hmm, well there are new world types (Forge World, Noble Born, Mind Cleansed and Schola Progenium) to hail from with their own weapon and equipment. Some of the worlds in the Calixis sector are fleshed out and new careers for all classes are presented, ranging from corrupt local commissariat members to bounty hunters from the Bloodsworn. There's also some sweet origins to buy with your starting XP, such as veterans from a war or the such.
The book then spends most of its pages on several new world types: Feral/Feudal, Hive/Forge, Frontier Worlds, the Void and War zones. Each world gets its own assortment of weapons and other items. Quite some good stuff in there, like hand-cranked heavy stubbers, 9-70's, "Father Shot" Muskets, Scipio Arms knock-offs and the infamous Hecuter 9/5 from the Eisenhorn and Ravenor series.
Buy it! Buy it! Buy it!
