o.O Some of these schools don't offer many languages... We have French, German, Spanish (well, we're in Texas, so duh), Japanese, Latin, Chinese, Portuguese, and Russian.

I take Japanese, but Russian was my second choice.

As for the Latin languages having the same structure: many of them have similar grammatical structures, and have some similar words, but they are far from being the same language. Try getting a French person and a Spaniard to talk to each other- they won't understand. The only languages I know of that are really that similar are Dutch and German (and those still have some difficulty communicating), Norwegian and Swedish (nearly identical- no difficulty), and I'm sure there are others. But none of the languages you're suggesting would match each other.
I'll add that English has Latin roots. Just try to read a Latin textbook. It's not going to work out too well.

I wasn't trying to say that German and Spanish had the same words, or you could understand each other. I was only saying they have almost identical grammatical rules. I was actually taking Spanish during my third year of German, and the two quarters I remained in the class I learned much more than most of the other students.

I am actually thinking of learning Russian. My brother is in the National Guard, and learned Russian for his job. He needs to keep his Russian up, and there isn't really anyone around here who speaks it. Also...Russian is a pretty cool language(though I don't know a whole hell of a lot about it lol.)

Common misconception. Germans never spit, and what you think is proper German likely is not.

We only do French at our school. If I get into the school I want to go to for GCSE, I could take Spanish or German instead, but I'd just end up failing. I might as well get a good GCSE in a less useful language then failing another one.
