Harmony stepped back. She looked down. What was I thinking? Of course he doesn't like you that way! He's just being friendly! she felt stupid. She tried not to look at him in case he was looking at her, she could feel that he was. Carden seemed happy enough but she'd gone and tried to show affection again, when she already knew he didn't feel comfortable with it. Im such a fool she thought.

Carden looked at her in concern, his head tilted forward. "Are you alright? YOu looked sad... Don't frown, I like the smile where it is," he said softly.

Harmony looked up slightly, a small smile appearing on her face. He's concerned about me. Thats so sweet...but I guess he only likes me as a friend. I must remember that. She still felt foolish but she didn't want to push him away anymore then she felt she already had that day. What's wrong with me? I never get upset like this over trivial things!

Carden made himself comfortable amongst the flowers, trying not to think of how they wilted around him. "You know I never did like how roses smelt... I liked how pansies smelt though." He picked a blade of grass and chewed on it. "That's something my father taught me."

Harmony nodded. She really didn't know what to do now. If she could speak, at that moment, she would have been speechless. She lay down in the flowers and rested her head on her front hooves. I just wish I could speak to him she thought sadly He must be bored stiff around me

"What flowers are those as your marking?" asked Carden. "Well you can't say... but... maybe I can guess. Red Nightshade? No? Blood Eyebright? No?" He was more talkative the less she spoke.

Harmony shrugged. She really didn't know anything about flowers, only that they were beautiful. She also was in a fixed state of mind where she was convined she was wasting Carden's time.

Harmony shok her head, a slight worried expression on her face Will he be upset if I don't know anything about flowers? she wondered Coz if he wants info on plants he should be talking to Nightshade or even Kohaku. Not me. She looked back at her marking Its some form of christmas flower she thought but the name excapes me. The whole conversation had made her feel somewhat uncomfortable. What is wrong with me today? she stood up Maybe we should go somewhere else. She really did want to see his favourite spot but she had no idea how to get him to take her there. She took a few steps and looked back, hoping he'd start to walk with her.

Carden stood up and heard his cartilege click unhealthily. He smiled uneasily and walked up to her. "Are you tired of being here already? Well maybe a change of scenery might help. Ther'es this nice little cave where the water makes music- do you like music?" he asked, shaking out his tail.

Since Jacqui's computer is being a biotch face we decided that we ought to do some rping on her computer that isn't a biotch face and here it is
Jacqui says: Harmony looked back and smiled brightly at Carden. She nodded enthusiastically. Music was her very next favourite thing, next to flowers of course. Walking back to stand by his side she took his hoof in hers and pulled slightly to indicate she wanted him to take her there. Wow! Singing water? That truly sounds amazing!
Em says: Carden gingerly put her hoof back down. “Uh… yeah. Okay.” He turned in the opposite direction and walked even-gaited down the fields until they got into the mountains, Shadows where the sun never kissed the rock hissed and grabbed at them. Carden smiled so Harmony wouldn’t be scared. The cave opened like a wound in the living rock up a ridge with a single file ledge of rock. “It’s up there,” said Carden. “Just follow where I put my hooves.” He stepped carefully, scatterings of broken pebbles cascading past his feet. He disappeared into the dripping maw of the cave.
Jacqui says: Harmony followed as carefully as she could, not wanting to slip and cause Carden any trouble. As he reached the cave, she watched as he went inside, suddenly feeling a little uneasy. After staring at the entrance for a few minutes without moving, she poked her head into the cave first, her eyes tightly closed. She took a deep breath and opened her eyes. As her eyes began to adjust, she entered the cave fully and gasped as she gazed around her.
Em says: Carden was awash with white light reflected off pools of water dripping from stalactites. He smiled at Harmony who had taken ever so long to finally get inside. “Listen,” he instructed. The water dripped with different tunes down into their respective pools. The tune was remarkable. It was like nothing ever heard anywhere else. “I like it here,” said Carden quietly. “Everything is in harmony here… everything has a place. And it stretches on forever.”
Jacqui says: Harmony couldn’t believe the beauty of the cave and the music she heard from the dripping water of the pools. Wow! … This is absolutely amazing she thought, as she gazed around with an expression of awe on her face. Walking over to one of the pools and looked down at her faint reflection in the water. This place is so special! No wonder Carden loves it so much…It’s like magic She looked back at Carden and smiled sweetly. Thanking him silently for bringing her there.
Em says: ”Ah, just don’t touch…” said Carden. “I have a feeling that any disturbance in the water might change the tones…” He walked with a precise step making barely any sound. “We are only ghosts here,” he said softly. “We’re here to see and be not seen. But up ahead is something you should see.” He continued up until the music dimmed and the light became just a memory- rippling across the walls like an undersea walk. He stopped at the rim of a huge lake of subterranean water. It was dark in the middle, but around the edges, light filtered down to show even the glassily polished stones that tiled the bottom of the lake.
Jacqui says: Harmony was in love with this place already. There’s even more?! She tried to watch her step as she followed Carden along, but it was hard as she was also trying to take in everything around her, and she was still listening to the music, even as it got fainter and fainter. When they reached the lake Harmony felt uneasy again. Ooh its beautiful, but…what if that dark spot is some sort of creature? It might eat us she thought, not taking her eyes off it and staying close to Carden.
Em says: Carden smiled and raised his voice. “This lake is fed from an underground stream- it’s pure water… with a lot of iron,” he smiled. “But the lake isn’t as uninteresting as it seems.” He grinned and stepped into the lake. The cold water numbed his hoofs as he backed in. His tail flared around him, casting a green shroud around his legs. He went in as far as his neck and looked up at Harmony expectantly. “Want to come in?” he asked.
Jacqui says: Harmony dipped her hoof in the water and pulled it out quickly, shivering slightly. Eee it’s cold! …but if I don’t go in he might think I’m strange. She smiled politely and strolled into the water, pretending to the best of her ability that it was a nice warm bath.
Em says: Carden cocked his head and rose out a bit to meet her. Of course, his senses were a bit… dulled ( sweatdrop ) “Come on, you can’t feel it deeper in.” He jerked his head, waited until she was a bit deeper, then he flashed her his bleached white teeth and dived in.
Jacqui says: Harmony’s eyes nearly popped out of her head What’s he doing? Where’s he going? She took a deep breath and dived under the water after him. Straining her eyes to get used to seeing under the water.
Em says: Carden, of course, due to his… condition ( sweatdrop ) had no need to breathe underwater. He let himself drop like a stone in the water, and somehow looked more alive than he usually did. Don’t worry, Harmony his mouth spoke and his words jangled like ripples in the water until they imposed themselves onto Harmony- decoding themselves from movements to words, if not sound, in her mind. “You don’t have to breath in here- I’ve found that time… his words were harder to find the further down he got. …is suspended here… He rose back up to Harmony, carrying a chrysanthemum- perfectly preserved as though it were still growing. I dropped this in here three weeks ago… here, he tangled it into her hair so it wouldn’t fall out.
Jacqui says: Harmony gave Carden a strange look I don’t need to breathe here? she thought disbelievingly Hey wait a second! …I heard that quite clearly! He can speak underwater? What is this place? She looked around her and felt more relaxed as Carden put the flower in her hair Its so beautiful she thought, blushing. “Thankyou” she said experimentally “…Can…can you hear me too?”
Em says: Carden shook his head. Of course not, Harmony, he said sweetly. But because the movements your throat makes when you try to speak moves in the water up to me, my mind decodes it into words. So… it’s like I’m reading your words. He let the wavering waters waft over him. Does it feel strange to be able to speak to someone?he asked.
Jacqui says: Harmony thought about it “Well…a little” then she shrugged “Its also a lot less stressful knowing that you can understand me” she grinned “Thankyou so much from bringing me here. This place is amazing! How did you ever come across it?”
Em says: Oh... I found it while I was here and there, said Carden with a wave of his hoof. I like it because I can sort of ... he looked away, unhappy for thinking that thought. Don't worry...

Jacqui says: Harmony smiled sweetly at him, though she was a little concerned "Are you sure you don't want to talk about it?" she asked, happy that she was able to comunicate with him "I find it helps to talk about things"
Em says: Carden cocked his head. Are you sure you want to listen? He asked. Will you promise you won't look at me like I'm a beast after I say?
Jacqui says: Harmony was still smiling, but gave him a slight "Are you serious?" look. "Of course Ill listen Carden. You are my friend" she nodded "And Id never look at you like you were a beast. No matter what you say"
Em says: Carden didn't look at her when he said, I'm dead. I can't... I can't feel. Things die when I touch them. I don't... breathe anymore. He looked totally miserable.
Jacqui says: Harmony's smile faded "Wow. Thats really amazing Carden! I mean...I had an inkling, I mean you have bandages and when I touched you, you felt cold. But I thought it was just a coincidence" her smile returned "And guess what? It doesnt make me see you any differently"
Em says: Are you sure? asked Carden. You... promise, Harmony?
Jacqui says: Harmony nodded "Id never lie Carden, especially not to my friends. Besides, I like all kinds. I dont judge them by their appearence or their condition, no offense...I judge them on who they are inside" she swam a little closer to him, making sure not to get too close, in case he felt uncomfortable "There's a pony in my herd who is like you... well similar. Shes a ghost, and one of the sweetest ponies you could ever meet"
Em says: A ghost? said Carden. I think... it might be worse to be a ghost... The water washed against his face, like the tears he couldn't shed.
Jacqui says: "Well, perhaps. I mean, she can never grow up, never have children...and some ponies fear her too. Its so sad!" Harmony sighed and turned away "But she manages to keep smiling even through all that. I admire her for it. Shes one brave little girl" she realised she was babbling, and looked back at Carden smiling warmly "So...may I ask, what's it like? Being de-...well having your condition I mean?"
Em says: It's... sad. Full of regret. You can do eberything you used to do but it's hollow. It's like being blind. Or deaf. Or... mute...He said quietly.
Jacqui says: Harmony resisted the urge to hug him. He just just looked so sad "Aww that sounds terrible! ...I mean being mute is bad too at times, but I cant even begin to imagine what you go through everyday" she looked concerned "...If its not a rude question, may I ask, How come you're still here and not...like most with your condition?"
Em says: Izanami in my herd is the gatekeeper to a lesser gate of the Underworld. She let me in to accompany Emir... I uh... I embalm ponies... with bleach... It leeches thier colour... but they make me... He looked at her pointedly. 'Do you hate me now," his gaze seemed to say.
Jacqui says: Harmony smiled " If they make you do it, then its not your fault. Besides, I could never hate you. If that’s what you think." she looked deep into his eyes Gah hes so cute!
Em says: Carden smiled. They embalmed me with Bleach. That's why they do it. Because... Sanka made a mistake... He tried to smile. Wasn't her fault. These are... her... this is her wedding dress, he said, touching his bandages.
Jacqui says: Harmony smiled though her mind was suddenly full of questions. Oh my gosh! Sanka? Wedding dress? ...Is he married? Oh boy...Am I intruding! I hope Im not...ooh better say something "Her wedding dress?" she looked at his bandages "But they...they arnt white?" she was lost for words
Em says: Carden cocked his head and smiled wryly. Harmony, what do you think happens when you're beaten to death? You bleed. I was carrying Sanka's wedding dress material from the next town to her when I was attacked. I bled on it... they scrubbed for hours, but bandages was all the costly silk was good for.
Jacqui says: Hamony gasped "I am so sorry!...I had no idea" she'd said the wrong thing and she felt awful "Sanka...she was...you're girlfriend?"
Em says: I asked her to marry me and she said yes... so I'd say she was my fiance', said Carden. She'd be dead by now... it was so long ago. She got married... had kids... without me. He shrugged.
Jacqui says: Harmony felt uncomfortable "Im sure she loved you very much. I guess...she figured moving on was the best way to cope with her loss" she looked away, at that moment wishing she was mute again "If she is dead and you are dead...couldnt you find eachother now?"
Em says: Carden looked up. No... that's thier final irony; they won't let me see her... and she wouldn't... want me to find her.
Jacqui says: "Oh...thats not good" she really felt awkward talking about this "Im sure she would want to see you. I believe that you never really fall out of love with a person unless they do something to hurt you on purpose. And you didnt die on purpose..."
Em says: I think she'd... prefer her afterlife with her mate... I wouldn't want to cause her pain... seeing what she did to me. He looked at himself and sighed.
Jacqui says: Harmony nodded "Yeah...I guess so" she sighed "Im sorry..Im not helping much am I?"
Em says: You don't need to be of any help, Harmony, he said. It's just lovely to talk to someone... just to talk.
