Indeed. In some tracks of the game and other F-Zero machines you can go to 2000 mph. Well, on that track he got up pretty high.

I've played both and F-Zero is much faster.
I probably wouldn't have hesitated to say EA but right now it seems like they're making a huge turn around. I fell in love with skate. and Paradise is pretty fun online.
My least favorite devs are both Capcom and Ubisoft for slaughtering two titles with huge potential.
Prince of Persia and Viewtiful Joe.
Instead of actually trying to make the sequels good, they just kept porting it and changing control schemes offering little incentive for former fans to pick up the sequels.
Capcom: Ported RE4 after a promised GC exclusive. Even though I've never played the game, I'm still very pissed. Too many Viewtiful Joe sequels, had they not driven it into the ground, there might've been a reason to give it a next gen makeover.
Ubisoft: Trying too hard to be like EA and Activision which led to the death of PoP. Like Capcom, too many sequels of a great game too soon. But reportedly they haven't lost all sanity as of yet, they're working on a next gen PoP. Hopefully they'll use the AC engine.
